Chaeyeon pressed her tongue against the roof of and looked at the couple across them, Shownu was quietly eating beside her, unbothered.

“So, when did you two get together, Chaeyeon-ah?” Mrs. Son asked, Chaeyeon put her spoon down before speaking.

Oh god.

How could we not think of that?

We don’t even have a story!

“About six months ago, eomma. We met when Minhyuk and her flew to Bali for a long weekend.” Shownu finally spoke, Chaeyeon’s eyes went to him and she nodded.

“Yes, auntie. We met there. Minhyuk was very adamant we fly to Bali that time, he missed the beaches.” Chaeyeon said with a smile.

“I always run into your father at the country club, does he still play golf?” Mr. Son asked her, Chaeyeon nodded back.

“He does, but right now my parents are out of town. They are on a cruise.”

“They left her all alone.” Shownu said jokingly, this earned him a glare from his mother.

“It’s not good for a young lady to be alone at home. Is someone living with you? I know we’re neighbors.” Mrs. Son asked, her forehead creasing.

“I have my secretary living with me right now, as well as the house staff.” Chaeyeon continued, she eyed the pieces of carrots on the side of her steak. Shownu’s fork suddenly appeared into view and he took them, Mr. Son smiled and looked away.

“Well, Hyunwoo, you should come by and check on her.”

“That’s what I’ve been doing, eomma.” Shownu said smoothly, Chaeyeon wanted to laugh.

Son Hyunwoo was so good at this. So good at being relaxed and all chill.

So good that she wanted to throttle him for being so laid back.

“It’s good to finally know the truth, the past few days all I’ve been hearing are rumors, it almost drove me crazy. This boy is not exactly the vocal type.” Mrs. Son said with a small smile, Chaeyeon couldn’t help but chuckle a bit.

“Yes, he’s not very vocal.”

“I tell you things.” Shownu swallowed and looked at her, his brows went up briefly.

“Just enjoy your food.” Chaeyeon muttered back, Shownu smiled, underneath the table, he put his hand over hers and gave it a small squeeze.

“I have to apologize for for not mentioning this when we were first introduced, uncle and auntie.” Chaeyeon begun, the Shownu’s father shook his head.

“Don’t apologize, we understand.” He spoke, Chaeyeon pursed her lips, still a concerned.

“I hope to see more of you, Chaeyeon-ah. How about dinner at our house this weekend? Tell me what you like to eat, or the dishes you prefer,” Mrs. Son said with excitement, Chaeyeon glanced at Shownu briefly, he gave her a small nod.

“Yes, this weekend is fine, auntie.”

I am so going to hell for this.

Minhyuk had his hands in his pockets as he approached his already waiting car, he had to stay in his office for a couple of hours because of the papers that needed his approval.

As he was about to hop inside his Ferrari, he heard a loud honk and he looked sideways. His brows rose as he saw a familiar male marching towards him.

The ShinHan heir’s lips formed a cold smirk and he leaned against his car.

“This is pretty brave of you, of all the places you could confront me.”

“You think this is funny? Why don’t you back off and let her breathe?” Jinyoung spat, Minhyuk let out a chuckle.

“This is funny, you think I’m not letting her breathe? Really? Or do you want a replay of what really happened?”

“You. You’ve always liked coming between us. You don’t even want her!”

“Let go, Jinyoung-ah, she won’t come back to you. I won’t let that happen.” Minhyuk turned to his car, but the male yanked him by the arm.

“She will choose me again. She always has.” Jinyoung said through gritted teeth, Minhyuk scoffed and pushed the male off him.

“She already has someone, let’s see if you can even come close to her now.”

Jinyoung paused, Minhyuk saw the confusion in the male’s eyes and he decided to taunt him more.

“What’s so great about you, anyway? Your money? That’s amusing. This guy can even buy you.” Minhyuk pointed out, he unlocked his car.

“And, I don’t think she’ll choose you, Chaeyeon’s smart enough to know what’s good for her.”

“You always tell her what to do. You’re not good for her either.”

“Think what you want to, but I have never hurt her.” Minhyuk shot back, he got inside his car and sped away from the building.

Jinyoung exhaled, he walked back to his car and slammed his palms against the wheel.

“We need to talk.” Chaeyeon said under her breath as they followed the elders out of the elevator. Shownu turned to her and nodded, he called out to his parents.

“Eomma, Chaeyeon and I~”

“Alright, you two youngsters have fun.” Mrs. Son said, quickly dismissing them, Chaeyeon grew amused.

“I’ll look forward to dinner this weekend, auntie.” She said politely, the lady patted her hand before moving along with her husband.

“Six months?” Chaeyeon said as they stepped out of the building, Shownu turned to meet her gaze and his lips curled up.

“It sounded better than a month ago.” He offered.

“Let’s walk around and discuss this.” Chaeyeon said softly, Shownu nodded back, he put his palm on the small of her back as he moved with her.

“How are you so relaxed? Teach me.” She muttered as they crossed the street, Shownu grinned at her.

“What’s our story then? Joori’s party is tomorrow, we have to have something.” She spoke as they passed by multiple shops, out of habit, she hooked arms with the male without thinking.

“Four months of being together seems okay.” She said.

“We met in Bali.” Shownu added, Chaeyeon nodded back.

“What do I know about you? You work for ShinHan, you like cars, you have a Mustang. You have the patience of a saint.” She said, Shownu chuckled at her.

“I mean, how do you manage to deal with Minhyuk in a working environment?” She crossed her arms.

“What do I know about you then, Yeon?”

“I have a crappy Porsche. I make clothes. I’m Minhyuk’s Chaeyeon.” She said as Shownu draped his coat around her, she smiled and leaned against him as they moved along.

“And I also have to wear heels a lot now. If I’m always going to be seen with you, I need the boost.” She added dryly.

“There are certain vegetables you avoid. You hate them, actually. You don’t like being put on the spotlight. And you might not admit, you don’t really want to kill my cousin.” Shownu added as they walked, Chaeyeon her lips.

“Son Hyunwoo doesn’t hate his other job, but you’re also comfortable with being at the shop. You see the other one as work, the other is play. And, that’s kind of amazing.”

“Amazing?”

“You have it all balanced.” She pointed out, Shownu pursed his lips and he pushed her hair off her shoulder.

“And, you don’t like it if my hair is covering parts of my face.” She added with a chuckle, Shownu paused briefly, his brows going up.

“So, six months. Four months. Who asked who first?”

“Me.” Shownu claimed, Chaeyeon blinked at him, now she was already used to his quick answers.

“Do you even process it first before blurting out things like that?”

“I claimed that I was your boyfriend at the party, so, it’s me who asked you out first.” Shownu replied, he saw an ice cream stand a couple of steps from they were standing. Chaeyeon rolled up the sleeves of his coat so she could see her watch.

“You really didn’t have to help me back then, look where we are now.” Chaeyeon said, her tone made Shownu really look at her.

“I feel bad that you have to lie and make up things as we go, plus, you also will have to deal with my pesky relatives too.” She puffed her cheeks as she stared at the ground.

“I mean, it’s all just extra work for you. I’m not even your headache.” She murmured; the girl finally met his gaze.

“Eomma was about to set me up on blind dates a couple of weeks back.”

“Oh.” Chaeyeon paused, Shownu’s lips curled up, his eyes forming into tiny crescents in the process.

“Chaeyeon, you just became my shield from that.” He cheerfully said as he pulled the girl towards the ice cream stand.

“Me? Shielding you? Wow.” She murmured as she compared their palm sizes, Shownu chuckled before leaning down to press his nose against her hair.

“You are. Now, ice cream?”

“You know, I don’t even remember a time when I hung out with you and food was not involved.” She said, but Chaeyeon willingly followed the guy.

“Your stomach has to be full in order to be kind.” Shownu hummed at her as the queued for ice cream, Chaeyeon couldn’t help but laugh.

Wonho was smiling as the Land Rover pulled over by the shop, Chaeyeon slid down from the car.

“Hi, headache!” He waved her over, the girl’s secretary followed behind her.

“I’m glad I caught you before you left for your other job, oppa.” She said as Wonho leaned over to give her a quick hug, he gave the girl’s secretary a wave. Chaeyeon’s secretary couldn’t help but stare at the male, Wonho was wearing his usual grease stained overalls and didn’t bother to put a shirt inside. When did her boss meet this guy?

“Do you want something to drink? We have soda and juice.”

“I can’t stay long, oppa. I’m just here to deliver the things we spoke about.”

“What things?” Wonho asked as they walked deeper into the shop, Chaeyeon heard the door open upstairs. Her secretary look up, her eyes widened fractionally as he saw the male coming down the steps.

“I brought clothes I curated just for you, like promised.” She took the shopping bags from her secretary and handed them to the male.

“I picked out some pieces that I think would suit you, oppa. And, don’t be surprised, most of them have sleeves.” She said dryly, Wonho cackled, then he looked up.

“Son Hyunwoo, your girlfriend’s here!”

Chaeyeon glanced at her secretary, realizing that she didn’t know anything. Yet.

Shownu appeared, he was already dressed in jeans and a muscle shirt.

“Chaeyeon-ah,” His eyes widened when he saw her, but he walked over to the girl and pressed his nose against the side of her head.

“You’re not going to work today?” She asked as she handed him the other bag, Shownu took it from her.

“Later this afternoon. Did that Ko Junho try to reach you again?” Shownu crossed his arms, Chaeyeon smiled and shook her head.

“No, and we’ve rejected his offer as well.”

“Why? Did someone bother my headache? Who is this Ko guy?” Wonho asked while crossing his arms, Chaeyeon’s secretary looked on, somehow, she had a feeling that director Ko should never show up before her boss again. Well, just look at her new friends.

“Yes, last night, this investor tried making moves on her. He was getting all handsy with her too.” Shownu said with a playful grin, Chaeyeon was about to speak but Wonho was already on his phone.

“You!” She hissed as she padded after a retreating Wonho, Shownu laughed and set the bag down.

“You must be secretary Yang?” He spoke, Chaeyeon’s secretary swallowed and nodded back.

“Yes, it’s nice to meet you director Son.” She said as she took his extended hand, Chaeyeon reappeared, looking a little worried.

“You…..Nevermind,” She was panting, held on to Shownu’s arm as she faced her secretary, the girl looked shocked and confused.

“Yeah, so this is my boyfriend. I can explain later. But, put him on my priority list, he gets Minhyuk’s privilege as well.”

“Privilege?” Shownu echoed, the girl was fixing the strap of her heels, he held onto her elbow.

“The privilege to waltz in my office unannounced.”

He chuckled and the let go of the girl.

“I’ll come by and pick you up tonight.” Shownu said, the girl nodded back.

“What should I wear?”

“Clothes?” Chaeyeon paused, her brows going up.

“No, like what kind of clothes should I wear?” Shownu asked again, a grinning Wonho had appeared by the shop’s doors.

“Just come as yourself, no need to get all dressed up.” Chaeyeon shrugged at him, she scrunched her nose and glanced back.

“I have to get going. Call me if you need the clothes resized or something. And, please, Wonho oppa don’t kill the man.” She called out as she headed for her car.

“Eh.” Wonho hollered back at her, Chaeyeon was smiling as she got inside the Rover and it sped away.

“What did you do?” Shownu asked as he grabbed one of the wrenches on the table and walked towards one of the vehicles that were sent in the other day.

“His so-called business is under the company. What did he do?” Wonho’s reply came with a smirk, he put his phone back in his pockets.

“He made Chaeyeon so uncomfortable, did you fix him up?” Shownu asked as he slid underneath car.

“Of course, I did.”
