Him&I
“Chaewon-ah!”
Changwook turned his head, his eyes went to Hyejin who was calling his sister over. And Sehun who was standing behind Hyejin.
He winced and took his seat, Chaewon turned her head at her direction and smiled.
“Unnie, hi.” Chaewon showed no signs of seeing the male behind their family friend.
“Hey, it’s been years. How have you been doing?” Hyejin greeted her with a hug, Chaewon shrugged at her.
“I’ve been well, unnie. I just got home this week. For work, obviously.” She replied, and then Hyejin turned behind her.
“Right, Chaewon-ah, this is Oh Sehun.” She introduced him, Changwook leaned forward, wanting to hear everything.
“I invited him to come with me, he’s my plus one.” Hyejin explained.
“Ah, I see.” Chaewon’s reply was cool.
Changwook saw how Sehun grew stiff as he faced the girl, but oddly, Chaewon stuck her hand out.
“Nice to meet you, Oh Sehun-ssi.” She said, Sehun’s brows rose up, clearly confused but he took her hand in his.
“S—Same here, you have a beautiful hotel.”
“Of course.” Chaewon replied, and then she turned to Hyejin.
“I’ll be back in a minute, unnie. Enjoy the party.” She patted the girl’s hand, excused herself and walked away from the two.
Chaewon let out a shaky breath and clasped her hands together.
Kai stepped out of the meeting and yawned. He’d been stationed for two weeks now in Osaka for a conference. And he was already being peeved because he was always holed up in the office.
He took out his phone and paused when he heard his secretary approaching him.
“Sir,”
“What is it?”
“Your cousin called yesterday, did you not call her back?”
Kai blinked at him and slowly shook his head.
“It must have slipped my mind, did she say why? Is it urgent?”
“No, sir. She just mentioned if you could join them for lunch next week.”
“Lunch?” Kai repeated as they walked together, he opened his phone and found a message from Sehun saying that he’d be in Jeju for the weekend.
“Yes, she mentioned that her sister-in-law is in town for the opening.”
Kai almost tripped on his own feet.
“W—What? S-ister-in-law?”
“Yes, sir. Miss Ji is back in Korea, and right now she’s in Jeju for their branch opening. You asked me to send a message to chairman Ji and tell him that you couldn’t~”
“S—So, Chaewon’s in Jeju.” Kai murmured as he padded away from the confused male.
“And Sehun too.” Kai stared at his phone and he shook his head.
“Well, if it ain’t destiny ing with him.” He murmured to himself before going back to his office.
Sehun leaned back on his seat as the party began. It didn’t seem real, seeing her, talking to her and even touching her.
He closed his eyes briefly.
Chaewon is back. But, there was something off about her. He couldn’t pinpoint what it was, but the girl he spoke with earlier, she didn’t sound like the Chaewon he knew.
Sehun shook his head to himself.
Who was he to think that? Chaewon had every right to pretend not to know him.
Sehun ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn’t prepared for this. Having her stand before him almost knocked his breath away.
His eyes went to Hyejin, and he had to shake his head at the irony. The girl his mother was trying to pair with him was good friends with Chaewon.
Of all people, she had to be good friends with the Jis.
“Sehun-ah,”
Sehun turned his head and he stood up.
“H—Hy~ Chairman.” Sehun said, Changwook smiled and shook his hand.
“It’s been a while, huh?” He spoke, Sehun could only nod back.
“Congratulations, hyung. The hotel looks perfect.”
“It did take us a long time to finish this. How have you been?” Changwook asked him.
“I’m doing well, chairman.”
“Ya, speak comfortably. Don’t act like a stranger.” Changwook patted his shoulder, Sehun paused and he nodded.
“I don’t know what happened between you and my sister, and I respect whatever you two decided on. But, don’t be a stranger. That’s not us.” Changwook grinned at him before excusing himself.
Sehun let out a big sigh before getting himself another drink.
Chaewon yanked out the pins from her hair and let her hair down. She knew it was a bad idea coming home.
But she didn’t expect it would hit her this fast.
“It hasn’t even been a week.” She said under her breath, her eyes went to the party again. And then she glared at the beach.
The unreasonable side of herself wanted to go away and just hide in her room, but she knew that was wrong. That wasn’t her. She wasn’t going to let her brother handle everything for her.
That wasn’t her. Not anymore.
You’re an idiot for actually being here. Of all places, you had to attend our opening?
She fixed her hair and made her way back to the party, she smiled as a family friend waved her over, Chaewon joined them at their table and chatted for a bit.
And then she stood up, she approached the bar and asked for a drink. She was about to go back to their table when someone patted her shoulder.
“Now, can I finally talk to you?” Hyejin grinned at her, Chaewon smiled.
“Sorry, unnie. I was quite busy earlier.”
Great. It’s the plus one bringer.
“Right, you went to SNU, right?” She asked her, Chaewon nodded back and took a small sip from her glass.
“I did, for a while. Why?”
“Here.” Sehun approached them and handed Hyejin a drink, he turned his head and his eyes widened when he saw Chaewon.
“You two must have bumped into each other at school, no?” Hyejin spoke, Chaewon’s eyes remained glued on the girl.
“It’s a big school. I only had a few friends too.” Chaewon replied, Hyejin nodded back.
“What was your major?” Chaewon turned to Sehun, there was something in her tone that stunned him.
She sounded cold.
No, she acted that way too.
Too cold, too business-like. Very unlike her.
“I~”
A tall figure suddenly walked towards them, Hyejin turned her head and blinked. And then the male reached out to make Chaewon face him. She was about to react when he cupped her cheek in his hand and leaned down to press his lips against hers.
“Hi, J. Won.” He said with a small smile and pressed his forehead against hers.
