Joohyuk pursed his lips as he stared at the screen of his computer, he had spent hours reading old articles regarding Chaewon’s accident.

He pursed his lips as photos from the scene of the car accident, he scratched the back of his head. The driver of the truck who had hit Chaewon was released just two weeks after the incident. And nothing was heard from him ever again.

He drummed his fingers on the desk and picked up his coffee.

But, what was strange was, there was no article about Sehun. Not even a photo of him, no one even wrote about how Chaewon was connected to the Samsung heir.

Heck, in the news, Sehun wasn’t even at the scene.

In his mind, something just didn’t add up.

“Surely, people must have seen him, witnesses were interviewed.” Joohyuk murmured to himself, he looked away from the screen.

It was just so weird.

A car accident involving two of the richest families in the country yet, it was downplayed that not even all media outlets spoke about it.

He searched for their university’s website and got into the students’ forum site. He typed in their names and photos of the couple arrived.

“Okay, this is creepy. Are these..papparazi shots?” He tilted his head, there were photographs of Sehun and Chaewon taken in the campus. Shots of them eating at the cafeteria, doing some schoolwork at the library and another set of them walking around campus.

“What a pretty picture. Well now, I kind want them back together.” He mused to himself, his eyes went to the articles again.

He sighed before picking up his phone.

“Yes, young master?”

“I need to call in a favor, secretary Hong.” He said as he spun his chair away from his desk.

“What is it, young master?”

“I have something that I would really like you to check on.”

Chaewon leaned against the wall as she watched the other executives step out of the meeting room, she crossed her arms, uncomfortable.

It was eating her inside.

He didn’t really have to step out of her office earlier.

She was uncomfortable, yes, but how would they work with each other if this type of…thing continues?

She saw Sehun finally appeared by the doors, she pushed herself off the wall and walked towards him.

“Vice chairman Oh,” She spoke as she neared him, the other Samsung staff paused and bowed to greet her.

“I have a few things I’d like to discuss. Do you have time?” She spoke politely, Sehun met her gaze for a short moment and he nodded back.

“Of course.” He replied as he followed her, Chaewon her lips before facing him.

“What is it, vice president Ji?” Sehun spoke as they reached a secluded area, they were standing by the floor-length windows.

“You didn’t have to do that.”

“What?”

“You’re..good at this, you know. Making feel bad.” Chaewon met his gaze evenly, Sehun halted.

“Ch—Chaewon-ah, I was ju~”

“How will we work with each other....if..” She trailed off and ran her fingers through her hair.

“I don’t know how to act around you, Chaewon. I know you hate me, and at the same time, I am aware that I have to act as if nothing happened between us.”

She looked away.

“It’s just..difficult for me to decide how I should…move around you again.” Sehun was looking at her, her forehead creased.

“That doesn’t require overthinking, Oh Sehun.” She looked up, her forehead still creased.

“Is..it too much to ask to be friends again?” He said softly, Chaewon’s eyes faltered.

“It’s kind of difficult to work around this one without actually getting along, Chaewon..I mean, vice president Ji.” Sehun corrected himself, Chaewon exhaled and puffed her cheeks.

Sehun slowly extended his hand towards her, he saw how the girl contemplated before him.

“If it really..makes you uncomfortable, I can assign someone else in my stead. So that you don’t have to see me as~”

“It’s Chaewon in private.” She simply said as she put her palm in his, Sehun blinked and gently shook her hand.

“Thank you, Chaewon.” Sehun said, she met his gaze and nodded.

“The things we do for family.” She said as she pulled her hand back, Sehun could only nod back.

“I never got to say this, but..I’m glad you’re back, Chaewon. You look really good.” He said to her, Chaewon’s lips curled up slightly.

“Is that another term for, you’re glad I’m still alive?” She asked, her tone sharper than intended.

“A little mercy, Chaewon.” Sehun said to her, unfazed. She shook her head before stepping away from him.

“Enjoy the rest of your day.” He spoke, she gave him a small nod before getting in the elevator.

Sehun let out shaky breath as soon as she disappeared from his sight.

Chaewon shut the door behind her and let out a heavy sigh. She leaned back and closed her eyes briefly.

What am I doing?

This is stupid.

She walked towards her desk and she halted when she noticed the stack of brown boxes at the corner, just by her glass shelves. Chaewon made her towards the pile and bent down to pick up a box, she brought to her desk and lifted the lid off.

“Stuff from school? Why did they send them here?” She muttered as she took out a bunch of her old binders and textbooks.

She set the binders down and a few pieces of neon colored paper slid down to the floor, Chaewon paused, recognizing her notes from college.

Her lips quirked up.

“I really had the time to color coordinate notes.” She mused to herself as she knelt down to pick them up and then she came across a small envelope.

She opened it and froze.

It was filled with different sort of photos, photos of her and her friends.

And photos of him.

She chewed on the insides of her cheeks as she picked one out, it was taken during one of their school trips. She was leaning against Sehun as they watched their other classmates prepare the bonfire, and he had his chin over his head as they looked on. Her eyes went to their intertwined fingers, she bit her lip before setting it down.

Chaewon stood up and dusted her skirt down, she was about to turn away when another photo caught her eye.

Her fists curled as she stared at it, it was the last photo they had taken together. It was at that damned party. She shook her head and dumped all the contents into the box and left her office, not bothering to take her phone or purse with her.

“So, any progress?” Kai mused as he sat across his friend, Sehun shut his laptop close and eyed him warily.

“With the project? Not really.”

“Sure, I’m interested with that.” Kai rolled his eyes at the male, Sehun looked away.

“How’s J.Won?”

“Huh?”

“Well, that’s her new nickname. I mean, that’s what her LA crowd calls her. J.Won.”

“They made her sound like a..rapper or something.” Sehun muttered as he stood up and fixed his pants. Kai grinned, wanting to pester the Samsung heir.

“So, going back, progress?”

Sehun was facing the windows.

“I..I want to be her friend again, Jongin-ah.” Sehun stated without turning to face him.

“Well, then do that. I mean, how hard can it be, right?”

“It is hard when I messed up big time.”

“You didn’t mess up, Sehun. It was her father.” Kai pointed out, Sehun shook his head.

“Still, if I hadn’t gone there and~”

“No. No.” Kai cut him off.

“Come on, Samsung. They don’t even speak with their father anymore. He’s been gone for years!”

“I knew beforehand that he didn’t approve of me, and yet I decided on just appearing there without actually thinking~”

“Sure, we can talk about that after we find out as to why he found the need to shoot at you.” Kai pointed out, his tone sharper than intended.

Sehun closed his mouth and buried his hands in his pockets.

“Right now, your focus should be on getting well and on her.” Kai said slowly.

“Well? I~”

“You’ve been drinking again. I know that.”

Sehun’s forehead crumpled and he shook his head.

“It was just once~”

“I don’t want the same thing to happen again, Oh Sehun. She’s back now. Focus on her, and nothing else.”

“She hates me, you know that.” Sehun told him.

“Yes. But her presence helps you focus, I also know that.”

Sehun closed his eyes and leaned back against the windows.

“Just…be her friend again. If you don’t want her to find out the truth, then fine. You want her back, so, work on that. Maybe, it’s not that hopeless for the two of you yet.”

“You’re speaking as if that Nam Holdings son doesn’t exist.” Sehun pointed out, Kai smiled and shrugged at him.

“You’ve always been up for a little competition, right?”

Sehun didn’t reply.
