Back at the restaurant

Yuri and Victoria were still enjoying their dinner, oblivious to the jealousy around them. They didn’t even notice her presence. Jessica left before they were finished with dinner and they were clearly having a great time.

“So…..are you dating anyone?” Victoria looked at Yuri and smiled

“Nah, too busy for that; I don’t think anyone could deal with me” Yuri laughed

“You’re perfect for me though” Victoria whispered, hoping Yuri wouldn’t hear it

“What did you say?” Yuri got her wallet and paid the bill

“Oh, nothing. Thanks for dinner” Victoria said, hiding her sadness behind the smile

“We should go back now, I don’t want to leave Jessica alone for too long” Yuri stood up

“I have a late shift tonight” Victoria notified Yuri

“Great! We can go back to the base together” Yuri offered and put her arm around Victoria as they walked out to the car

“S…sure” Victoria tried hard to hide her blush

Yuri drove back to base and parked outside of the main building. She got out and opened the door for Victoria to get out of the car. They walked toward the building together. When they reached the front door, Yuri was about to say goodbye and leave but Victoria had other plans in mind.

“I had fun tonight” Victoria said to Yuri

“Me too, we should go out again sometime” Yuri said

“Yuri…..I……” Victoria couldn’t continue

“You what?” Yuri tilted her head

“I like you” Victoria said, immediately looking down to avoid the awkward tension between them.

Yuri, on the other hand, was flabbergasted to hear such a confession. Her eyes widened and her jaw almost dropped to the ground.

“Um……okay…..” Yuri responded

“I’ve liked you for a long time but I was too afraid to say anything. You’re so cool and I’m just….” Victoria confessed

“You’re just you and I’m just me. We’re all special in our own ways” Yuri sincerely said.

“……” Victoria was speechless

“Listen Vic, I-“ Yuri was cut off by a pair of soft lips on hers.

Victoria had sacrificed all her self-esteem and kissed Yuri, on the lips. Yuri was so surprised that she just stood there in shock until Victoria pulled away.

“Don’t tell me yet. I’m not ready.” Victoria said teary eyed and walked into the building, leaving Yuri still standing there.

Yuri stood there until she felt her phone buzz in her pocket. A text message from Jessica.
