Flashback Started
“I’m sorry Sara sunbae; I didn’t mean to do it. But she has been in pain for god knows how long, and I wanted to put it to an end and also from my own hands. I never mean to hurt her or anything, but it’s maybe for the best. Both our mom and dad died in a car accident and I have been looking after her and it’s time I put an end to it.” he cried his eyes out as he confessed to me about what happened.
Letting out a sigh, I kept my hand on his shoulder and squeezed his shoulder to give him some reassuring. “You won’t lose your job, I promise you that. Regarding your sister, well she has been back to her stable conditions though we can’t guarantee if she will survive.” I replied to him causing him to look up at me with his teary eyes.
He couldn’t dare to look into my eyes hence he kept his head down. I let out a sigh before patting his back. “It’s time for you to let it out. And for once, maybe you did the right thing. Maybe your sister wanted to go and be with mom and dad. Maybe it was for the best.” I tried to console him and the more I did the more he cried making me pat him more in order to calm him.
“I won’t ask you to save her sunbae, but can I at least see her for one last time? I know I’m not the perfect brother for her.” he replied causing me to nod my head. “Yes, you have the permission to but please don’t hurt her yet. We will do it in a less painful way.” I replied causing him to nod his head while biting his lower lips and trying not to cry anymore.
Flashback Ended
“So that’s what happened.” Hyung Joong said as he kept his chin on his hands before turning around to give me a look. I felt slightly guilty for screaming out at him in his office while one of his assistant saw me throwing a tantrum like a little kid would do.
“Uhm… sorry!” I mumbled causing him to lean towards me slightly in order to hear it better. Or probably he was just making fun of me like he used to back then. “You were saying?” he asked me causing me to glare at him.
“I was saying! I’m sorry…” my voice kept on going low the moment it totally walks up to 'I’m sorry' causing him to lean closer to me to hear what I was saying clearly. I was so pissed off when he did that. I kind of grabbed him by his white doctor’s coat and brought him closer to me so I can scream at him though, dumb me!
He fell on top of me, causing our eyes to lock our stares for a minute. For a minute I got startled and the next minute I saw him slowly getting off me. “Didn’t mean to do that.” He said to me softly and cleared his throat.
“Yea, I know. Uhm, so yea regarding patient Kang Ara, I think we have no other choice but to give her the injection now. Her guardian is requesting for it as well as Ara.” Quickly I changed the subject and went straight to the point.
“Are you any how asking me to use-” “Do we have any other less painful choice?” I asked him firmly causing him to shut up and to think for a minute. “Can’t we find another less painful way than using it?” he asked me once again hoping I would say there would be though there wasn’t.
“It’s kind of obvious right now it’s the only solution available at this hospital don’t you agree?” I asked him causing him to nod his head. “For now, let her hang out with her brother for one day. After that, we will talk to her and see what she says about it.” I replied and stood up to walk towards the door.
“Sara? Aren’t you supposed to be in bed resting?” Hyung Joong saying that wasn’t pleasant at all. I cringed for a minute and turned to stare at him. “If you want me to do a heavy exercise I’m willing to do to assure you that I’m completely fine.” I said to him as calm as I can. “So, I shall take my leave.” I said before walking out of the room.
Letting out a sigh, I walked straight into the ICU in hope of bumping into the mysterious KHJ and also to meet up with Ara as well.
(Kim Hyung Joong’s POV)“Is the meeting about Patient Kang Ara at 3pm?” I asked my secretary as soon as I walked out of my room causing her to nod her head. “Yes sir, it’s at 3pm.” She reminded me before I smiled and walked by.
It’s not surprising to see her working so hard to make the little girl smile before letting her go on her own ways. Letting out a sigh, I walked my way into the elevator and pressed the ground floor button in order to see how they were doing.
“Hyung Joong?” I turned around the moment someone called out for me. I knew I would believe my eyes, though I had no other choice but to believe it. Yes, she smiled at me as if she hasn’t seen me for so long. After years, I met her. I thought she will never come back to Korea.
“Yumi?” I asked to make sure if it was her to make her nod and chuckle like how she used to. “It’s been 4 years since I have last seen. Yet you didn’t recognize me?” she asked me softly causing me to smirk. “If you expect a doctor to know his every day patient even than you are totally wrong.” I said to her smiling. She smiled and walked up to me and wrapped her hands around my neck and hugged me tightly.
“I missed you. So much, and I came back this time for good.” She whispered near my ears causing me to stare out to see Sara staring at me and turning around. Letting out a sigh, I hugged Yumi back. “It’s good to see you too.” I whispered back as I hugged her back.
“Caramel macchiato? How did you know it was my favorite?” she asked me softly as she took a sip from the coffee cup I passed her. I chuckled at her reaction after drinking her favorite coffee.
“Last time I visited New York and met in coincidence, that’s how you first told me that caramel macchiato is your favorite.” I told her as I made myself comfortable in the seat across her. She nodded her head and looked around. “Yumi, I-” “I met Sara. On my way inside here.” I figured from the way Sara stared at me.
