Other Half

like a butterfly~

Promotions are very hectic. There is really no other word to explain it. From rehearsals to the actual recording, then from performing the songs live for the audience to waiting for the ending stage. After that there is more waiting for the fansign and then the cycle begins again.

In between these stages, there is a lot of sleeping whenever there is a quiet moment. It's been long since he's had a long night sleep without interruptions.

Jungkook walks into the practice room, returning from today's fansign. He hears Seokjin complaining about a game. Hoseok is also there. He turns upon hearing the door close. "Oh, our maknae is back."

"Yes." Jungkook yawns and stretches his back. "Maknae was working hard."

"Maknae worked hard." Hobi coos like he often does. "Your dinner is waiting for you in the resting room.''

Jungkook nods but he actually hasn't had the appetite lately. Still, he begins walking but then remembers he is still wearing his white stage outfit. Changing directions, Jungkook starts to shirt and spots Jimin playing the cart game on the console next to Jin. Didn't he go home already?

"Ya! I was first place! Why did you have to shoot that blue shell at me?" Jungkook spins around, his fingers freezing against the buttons. That voice is definitely not Jimin's.

"Ya! Why are you ya-ing me?" Jin bickers back at ________. "I want to win, of course I would shoot it at you."

"I wasn't ya-ing at you. I was ya-ing at the screen." She says cheekily. "If you want to win then you should do it honorably and not cheat."

"What do you mean cheat? This is part of the game!" Seeing Jin bicker is one of the funniest things. Even after years, he is still extremely animated.

"So you won't mind if I do this?" Next, he hears Jin screaming. She just shot a shell at him. "Revenge is sweet!''

She is so cute.

Jungkook strips off the outfit for the day and walks into the room where they keep fresh clothes when Hoseok speaks up. "Eh, Jungkook-ah, I'm not sure you noticed but ________-ie is here."

His shirtlessness won't bother her. She probably appreciates it more than she will admit. That's exactly when she turns. "Hobi-Oppa, it's ok, his body isn't anything special."

She says it with a straight face. Not even a hello. Jungkook raises an eyebrow at her. Oh, really now?

"Ya, focus!" Jin interrupts.

"I won already!" She swiftly faces forward.

"The next round is starting!" Ah, so noisy. "Why are you like Jungkookie?"

"Why do you speak like an Ahjae then?" Jungkook burst out laughing. She learns fast.

"They've been like this since they started playing. You would thing they've known each other for a long time." And even though they haven't, Jungkook really appreciates Jin not minding her bickering back. She does like to. That's her way of showing how comfortable she is around someone.

After changing into a long sleeved shirt and sweats, Jungkook walks into the resting room to find his dinner and stops when he sees the plastic containers on the table. That's not what he is used to.

He turns and sees that Hobi had followed him. "I'm jealous."

"Why?" Jungkook opens up a few containers and smells the side dishes. Maybe he just wasn't eating the right things, because his appetite suddenly returned.

"I wish someone was so kindhearted to me."

"Hobi-Hyung, that's you." Hobi is the warmest most kindest soul he's met.

"That's right," he says agreeing. "I'm everyone's hope."

"Hobi-Oppa!" They hear ________ scream. "Can you play for me?"

"Ah, why?" Jin shouts. "If you start a game you should also finish it!"

Hobi and him meet eyes, grinning at the same time. These two seem to be the new maknaes.

"No! Hobi plays even dirtier than you." Jin just keep complaining but Hobi had already walked out.

"I'm sorry! A very important person came." Jungkook smiles to himself as he pulls back the chair to sit down. "I'll play with you next time."

A few seconds later, he hears the door closing softly before he feels her hand slide down his neck while a soft kiss is placed on his jaw. "Hi."

"Now, you say hello?" He mutters grumpily but all is forgiven when she presses a few more kisses against his cheek. He breaks out into an unstoppable grin. She sits down on the chair parallel to him. She is wearing a wide but short hoodie and yoga pants. No wonder he thought she was Jimin.

Her face is flushed and her eyes are sparkling from excitement as she keeps glancing at the containers.

Jungkook looks at the food in front of him and tilts his head, noticing how they are his favorite dishes. "Eh?" He looks at her. She is smiling in anticipation.

"You cooked this, right? How did you know about my favorite dishes?"

She just keeps smiling. "I have my sources."

"Did you ask Seokjinie-Hyung?" Either him or Hobi.

"Yeah." She pouts but then quirks up again. "I wanted to cook you something anyway but then Jin-Oppa mentioned your lack of appetite, so I prepared this.''

"Thank you, ________." Really, he is so thankful. It's getting harder and harder for any of them to have a home made meal, not to mention a meal made full of affection. He can see it. The food inside the boxes was arranged with care and a lot of detail.

"I made soup." She says. "But I forgot the container at home. Ah," she slaps her leg. "I wanted to go back but Jin-Oppa distracted me."

Jungkook smiles. "When did you come?"

"Mhm… two hours ago?" She's been waiting for two hours already? He hadn't even known that she would come. Lately, they had only been able to communicate through their phones. "But it felt like twenty minutes. I think I need to get a console. It's so much fun. My hands hurt from gripping the controller so hard."

He opens his palm and she puts her hand into it so he can see. Her hands are warm and red from pressing the buttons. "But, ________-ie, I have pre-recording at around midnight."
He won't be able to go home with her.

"I know." She looks at the door when she hears some complaining. "I just wanted to see you for a bit. Bobo is actually waiting for me."

"Don't tell me you made him sit and wait." He holds her hand more tightly and leans forward to gaze into her eyes.

"Don't tell me you believe he wouldn't actually walk away as soon as the door closes." She says and then her head cutely, knowing that he gains strength from her. "But have I told you? Bobo will— why aren't you eating?"

Jungkook pulls his bottom lip into his mouth. "I want to hear you talk."

"Only your mouth will be busy, your ears can still hear me fine." She straightens up and reaches out to fix the food for him properly.

Watching her for a moment, a feeling of overwhelming love and bonding overcomes him. He stands up and takes her hand again, pulling her with him.
He walks to the door and opens it a gap to peek out. He feels her shifting before she puts her other hand on his shoulder, also sneaking a glance herself. He kisses her head which makes her smile.

Jungkook's purpose of opening the door was to check what the others were doing, so they wouldn't just come in unexpectedly.
But Jin is walking their way, his gaze focused behind him. Jungkook quickly closes the door and turns the lock.

She slaps his arm. "Aren't you being too obvious?"

"What?" He fights back his smirk.

"Locking us in like that?" She glares at him. "What will the they think?"

"They will think that I just want a moment alone with you. Just a moment to recharge."

"Ok." She says softly. She is probably able to see the wear and tear on him. She just doesn't know what caused it, yet. "But after a moment you need to eat a little."

"Ok." He says happily and pulls her to the couch They sit down and he kicks off his slippers, her doing the same with her shoes. "What were you saying about Bobo?"

"Bobo?" She makes the cutest expressions. She only shows them freely when she is really comfortable with someone. "Ah… Bobo will wait for you at the door mat. The morning you left, he never came back into the bedroom and when I went to check he was lying down on the mat, with eyes that said 'come back, Hyung'."

"That's so cute." He faces her completely and takes one of her hands. "I don't think I would be able to leave him."

"I really can't." She pouts next while pulling one leg under herself. "He always looks so excited in the morning when I leave for work, thinking we would be going for a walk again."

"Don't feel bad." He wiggles her index finger. "Once your working schedule settles, you'll be able to spend much more time with him."

She nods pensively. ''It's really no wonder so many mother's quit their job completely to focus on their children.''

''I think I would be scared to miss out on their groundbreaking firsts.'' With his profession it's inevitable.

''I think you're going to be a very loving father.'' She says suddenly and when he looks at her, he sees her grinning widely to herself.

''Why are you smiling so cutely?''

''Ah.. it's just...'' If possible her smile gets even bigger and she is directing it at him right now. ''I just suddenly imagined how cute you would be with our daughter. I don't know why that scenario exactly but I saw you two having a water fight.''

Jungkook sees this scenario in his own head now. He sees himself teaching their daughter how to shoot the water gun in their backyard and before he knows he is being chased and attacked by a giggling mini version of themselves, excelling way too fast at what she just learned.

''Cute, right?'' ________ asks, making him look at her, his heart bursting with warmth.

Gazing into her eyes, he finds himself slowly leaning closer. She keeps her eyes on him but moves back.

''Don't move.'' He demands as he places one hand against her waits, the other next to her hip on the couch to brace himself. Her lips curve up knowingly but she stops retreating. Holding himself over her, he stares into her mirroring gaze. He feels her hand trailing a path up his chest to his neck where she bunches up the material of his shirt.

He slides his hand to her lower back, pushing her close when they hear a knock. Jungkook immediately closes his eyes out of frustration and sighs heavily.

''Of course, we would get int—'' his words get cut off when she still kisses him, throwing him off because of the force behind it.

''Probably a good thing.'' She says lowly.

But she is right. It's probably not a good idea to start anything that they can't finish.

"Ya, Jungkookie, ________! Open the door! My bag! And what are you two doing in there that you need to lock the door?" Jin knocks on the door one more time, getting impatient.

She stands up, leaving him there and gets the backpack from the floor before unlocking the door. ''Your bag.''

"Oh, thank you." She is about to close the door on Jin but he stops her. "What are you two doing in there? Why lock the door? It's a public room."

Jin was just being comedic and she could tell. She keeps the door opened to the minimum. "I was scared you would drag me to play Mario Kart again."

Jungkook bursts out laughing at her blatant lie, falling back on the couch.

"Ya! I'm not that bad of a gaming companion."

"No... but you're not an enjoyable one either! Bye!'' She quickly closes the door.

Hurriedly locking the door, she turns around and waits for Jin's protest but there is none.

"I think he is shocked by your response and wit."

She mulls that over. "Am I being too rude? He reminds me a lot of my brother." And she clearly missed having him around.

"No, he is used to it. I told you they treat you like their younger sister." Jungkook waves it off, reassuring her. "Also Seokjinie-Hyung likes to be dramatic."

"That's a relief then." She glances at the food on the table and then at him and the way he had his head propped up under his arm, knee lifted with no thought to get up. She walks to him and lies down next to him, rolling onto her stomach.

"Did you workout?" He picks at her hoodie. She nods. "Are you still getting the side pains?"

"No, not anymore but I figured it's not a bad idea to start taking matters into my own hands." She pokes his abs. "Also, I see how fit you are and think to myself, 'ah, I really should'."

"We can go together." Exercising is his way of relieving stress and relaxing.

"Ugh," she actually groans. "Please let me get used to it first. Or I will be too distracted by you to even focus."

''What did you do today?''

She props her head up like him. ''I did some running and then Pilates.''

Since, it's her first time working out after a long time, her body will give an extreme reaction tomorrow. ''Cutie, take it slow, ok.''

''Hm...'' She murmurs and drops her head on the couch. ''You'll probably find me suffering on the floor next to my bed tomorrow morning. What was I thinking? I still have to work tomorrow.''

Jungkook chuckles lowly and her back. Even though, she must be tired, she still came to see him. ''Next time you miss me, get on the treadmill and put up a photo on the wall in front of you. This way you find a purpose to run.''

First there is silence, but his hand is on her, he can feels her shaking from inner laughter, then she erupts into giggles. She throws her head back and rolls to her side, almost falling off the couch. Jungkook quickly tightens his hold on her waist and pulls her to him. She never stopped laughing, finding humor in the situation. Her laughter is contagious.

She is someone who is able to give him a sense of normalcy that brings him back from the to other world he so often gets lost in. She is his escape from the part of his life filled with secrets and deceptions.

She looks up then and as she takes in his eyes, her brows draw close ever so slightly. ''Hm?''

Once more, she is able to see something was wrong just by his eyes alone.

He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Ever since he found out, he's been forcing himself to remain calm. "My mother had the surgery yesterday. Somehow the media found out."

Her face darkens. She really dislikes media play and he is starting to get bothered by them too. He was able to take it when it was directed at him but using his family is just wrong.

"It's nothing, really. They aren't bothering them or anything." He sighs. "But—"

"I know." He glances up at her, taken aback. "I know." Her eyes tell him she really does know exactly what he was stressing about. She must have read the comments too. "People throw rocks at things that shine, Jungkook."

It's a popular line. He's been getting hit ever since they started being successful but he always tried to not pay attention to it. If he had he wouldn't have been able to focus on what's important.

"How long does it take to get to Busan again? Two hours?" She feathers her thumb across his cheek. Her eyes so sincere, filled with so much love for him.

"About. Maybe a little more." But he still could not make it.

She shifts and props her elbow under her head. "Now, I'm not saying that I will make a difference. Your mom has your brother and father, they will take great care of her while she is rehabilitating. I don't like seeing you worry like this. And I hate knowing how petty, heartless people are making you doubt yourself…"
She stops for a moment. Frowning at something before she continues. "If you think it's appropriate, I could visit your mother and take care of her for the weekend. I hope it will ease your mind just a little bit even if I'm not you."

Of course, she isn't. She has a heart much bigger than his. "You would do that for me?"

"Of course," she says softly. "At this point, I think I would do anything for you, Oppa."
Such a big confession and oath of loyalty and commitment.

He takes her hand and puts it over his heart. "Thank you."

Love, nurture, care and warmth. These are all things she emits when she looks at him. He is surprised to find a bit of weight being lifted off of his shoulder.

"You know? I feel a little bit better knowing that you will be there for my mother." Jungkook starts and gazes deeply into the galaxy that is her eyes. "I'm sending my other half. You've become my other half, ________"

* * * * * *

You've become my other half.

The butterflies in my stomach still linger even though it's already been an hour since Jungkook said these meaningful words.
He is currently asleep behind me on the couch while I was doing some planning and researching for the trip. I'm his other half, so I will give my best to get as close to how great of a person he is.

I reach up to undo the knot on top of my head. My hear drops and my scalp tingles from the release. I keep one hand on my head, playing with my hair.

Another hand joins mine and I jump. Jungkook snickers. I place his laptop down and turn. "You're awake?" I glance down at my watch. "You still have thirty minutes."

"My brain woke me up so I could see you." His smile is so genuine, I believed him. He continues to play with my hair and flips it over, covering my face. "Wow."

"Hm?" I try to look but my hair is in the way.

"You're elector girl."

I touch my head and feel the familiar tingly feeling of electrified hair. "Don't you get that?"

"Yeah, I do, that's why I wear beanies. But I've never seen long hair do that."

He tries to push my hair back but some of it stays glued to my forehead. I shudder. I hate this feeling. "That's what happens. We have struggles like this."

I tie my hair up again and see him smile, amused. "I know. You're my reality."

He's saying the deepest things today.

When I'm done. I stand to sit on the couch next to him. He props up his head. He pats the spot next to him and after some consideration, I lie down. We just gaze into each others eyes. We can't see much because I had dimmed the light in the room but it was enough. I have memorized his eyes. So even if it's dark, I will see him in my head.

"Before I forget," I start. "I have to go back to Japan for a few days."

He instantly pouts. "Again?"

"Yeah." I pat his head. "It's just two days tops. You won't even notice I'm gone."

''Of course, I will.'' His lower lip juts out in displeasure. "Bobo can stay with me."

"What? Really?" I never thought of that possibility.

"Yeah, I'll take him with me when I'm out. You'll just have to give me instructions."

I grin, thankful beyond comprehension. I realize he has become my other half too. Knowing Bobo will be with him made me feel like I would be there too. "I'll write down everything you need to know, which really isn't a lot."

"Just don't ask me to scold him." Jungkook smiles tiredly and my heart tightens. "He's so cute."

"That's ok," I trace my fingers across his hair. "He'll get a vacation from me, then."

''He will miss you. You are his world. You're really the only one he has.'' Jungkook says, opening my eyes. I never thought of it that way. I should really treat Bobo better. He only has me.
''When will you be in Japan?''

''Monday.'' His eyes widen. ''I'll be with your mom Saturday and Sunday, then I'll fly to Japan and I'll be back on Wednesday night, I think.''

''You think?'' Jungkook teases.

''Wait, let me check.'' I roll around, managing not to fall and get my phone. ''I had it all figured out minutes ago.''

''You don't have to check just for me.'' He mutters, even more exhausted after the nap.

But I do, frowning at my screen until I get it and am about to explain it to him when I see that he was watching me this whole time. His eyes are straining to stay open but he is still staring.

Wishing for him to sleep a bit more, I trace my finger over his hair and ears just the way he likes. I trace my fingertip over the metal of his earrings, down his jaw. It ticks as I move down further and over his lips. His lips are so cute. His lips twitch when I use the outline as my path to his chin and then collarbone.
I expect him to get ticklish when I remain there but he doesn't move one bit. He's really not ticklish at all. That's so unfair. I want something against him too.

Taking a detour because his arms were covering his chest, I trace over his shoulder and then over his arm before finding a path to his stomach, passing over his waist. Not even there. I start to get impatient.
I travel over the lines of his abs next, making swirls, watching his face but he stays absolutely still. I frown. Is this really not ticklish at all?

My eyes move further down and I almost giggle at the thought. Using my finger, I strategically hitch up his shirt a little and see the top of his underwear.
Now with his skin exposed, I repeat the same drawing on his abs but his face remains still. He either didn't get affected by my touching at all or he had one hell of a control over his body.
With more curiosity than anything, I trace my finger very gently along the line of his underwear peeking out. When I glance up, I see that his eyes are open now.

"________," he says warningly.

"Hm?" I voice innocently.

"Don't start something you can't finish."

''What are you taking about?'' I feign ignorance. Jungkook give me the look. Before I can think about it too much, I hook my finger into the waistband and snap it against his skin. I giggle as he attacks me, catching my hands into his and trapping them over my head.
Ok. Maybe not attack, but considering how gentle and careful he usually treats me, he is pretty much attacking me. But it was an exciting new thrill.

Jungkook bites my neck lightly, growling into my skin.

''Are you really going to be angry with me?'' I say with a bit of charm lacing my words. ''You're not going to see me for a while.''

He lifts his head and stares down at me. The heat in his eyes throwing me off. ''I'm not angry, I'm desperate.''

''Oh, I-I'm sorry.'' I guess, I shouldn't be inciting him.

Nonetheless, Jungkook crashes his mouth on mine. He has never kissed me like that. He isn't taking his time like he usually would. It's like he's in a rush, , teasing and biting my lips, until I'm breathless.
Throughout the hot kiss, he had kept me restraint but when I try to free my hands, he immediately released them. One of them wounds into his full hair.

Jungkook groans deeply when my other hand finds its way down to pull him close. Even though he was kissing me so passionately, it's like he was keeping every other part of his body away from me.

He jumps back before I can touch him. Disoriented, I open his eyes and see him breathing heavily. I slowly prop myself up with my elbows. His hair looked so y right now.

Jungkook looks at me. "Don't look at me like that, please."

Me? Now, I'm the one looking at him in some kind of way? Ok, hormones, calm down. "I think it's because I'm on my period."

"That might be true but," He points at himself. "Why does that affect me, too?"

I crack a laugh and cup his face. Cute Jungkook is making an appearance.

He holds my hands against his face. "Sorry about being so rough."

I take in his apologetic face. "I liked it." I say, surprising him and myself.

"Really?" His eyes are so big right now.

"Yes." My eyes dance over his face. "I liked it because I trust you."

"Heol." He brings out cutely. Then his eyes focus again, stopping on my mouth. "Your lips are red."

I thought he meant I was bleeding but when I press the back of my hand against it, nothing comes off.

"I really like kissing you." My heart does a somersault. He's looking down coyly but then he peers up and it's not shy at all. He's flirting but also just sharing with me. "I never I thought would become a guy like that."

"Well, realistically speaking, there was no way that you would only like slapping people's butts for the rest of your life, Jungkook-ah." Amused, he leans forward and brushes a feather of a kiss on my lips.

"I like it all because it's you." He says that one more time, I'm going to let him do everything he likes. This boy and his words.

Someone knocks on the door.

''Jungkook-ah,'' it's his manager. ''We have to get going soon.''

Jungkook groans and throws himself on the couch again. I answer for him, telling the manager that he is awake already.

"I have to leave too. Bobo is waiting for me." I stand up and stretch. When I turn around to look at Jungkook I stifle a laugh. "You look… y."
He does. With his messy hair and sleepy expression he looked cute but y.

"All thanks to you." Pushing to his own feet, he readjusts himself and when his eyes land on me, he whines again. "Ah, why do I have to work now, I want to go home with you."

"I want you to come home with me too." I take his hand. "Next time."

I have to drag him to the door. That's how unwilling he is. All of them are still here but no one was paying attention to us, when I look to see why, I drop Jungkook's hands.

"Is that 'LittleBigPlanet'? I haven't played that in so long. Can I play?" I was already walking over to them

Taehyung looks up. "Oh, _______-ie, you were in there?"

"Yes.'' I sit down on the mat next to him and Seokjin. "Did you just return from filming?"

"Yes." He ends the current game much to Seokjin's disapproval. "________ wants to play, too."

"She's going to scream at me again."

"We're working together this time, I won't scream at you." Had I really screamed at him? "Sorry, for screaming at you before."

"Wha—" he looks at me. "Wow, you really look apologetic."

"Yes, I'm really am." Even though he is used to it and took it well without scolding me, I still shouldn't have.

"Ya, it's alright. I'm not actually upset." Seokjin smiles reassuringly and I feel a hand on top of my head. I glance up at a smiling Jungkook.

"Do you want to customize your skin?" Taehyung asks.

My attention immediately gets shifted back to the game. "Yes!"

And that's exactly what I do for the next minutes and I totally forget time as we start playing and laughing about our characters' fails and deaths.

"________-ie, I have to go now."

"Ok! Bye." I say, distracted by the game and hear someone crack up. His manager.

"Ya…" Is what Jungkook manages to bring out in disbelief.

Pausing the game, with the two boys protesting, I stand up but stay on the mat. I wave and smile. "Fighting!"

I'm about to sit back down when Jungkook strides over. I expected him to hug me. What I did not expect was for him to bend down and throw me over his shoulder, whacking my rather hardly while he is at it.

''Ow?''

"Ya! Wait, you can't just take ________ like that." Seokjin comes to my rescue but then my hope deflates at his next words. "At least give me the controller back."

"Ya!" I scream informally again. "I-I mean… Ya-yo!"

"No one can save you now." He says just before I hear the door being opening. I pat Jungkook's back, telling him to get my phone before abducting me.

Keeping me on his shoulder like I weighted nothingm, he turns around and takes my phone from Taehyung who was holding it out and then walks out onto the hall.

Jungkook puts me back oh my feet and grins. I slap his chest and growl at him. Maybe I shouldn't have told him that I like this side of him.

He steps close and caresses my cheek. "Don't play too long. Call me once you get home, ok?"

Oh, he wasn't really stopping me from gaming with them. "Ok."

"Ok." He says too. "I have to go."

"Ok." He nods and turns but I quickly latch onto his back like a koala. He chuckles. "I really have to go."

"I'm not holding you back, keep walking."

He puts his hand on my arms. "You don't have to bring me. I'll be thinking of you anyway."

I pull away and sigh. "Ok. I'll be thinking of you, too."

He smiles and pats my head before turning to leave in a rush. The manager had already walked ahead carrying my food with him.

I watch Jungkook until he disappears around a corner and walk back into their practice room to see that they had restarted the game. "Why did you start over?"

Seokjin and Taehyung look surprised to hear my voice. "We thought Jungkookie abducted you."

"No, he didn't." I groan. "Ah, now we have to start over again."

"Ey, don't be so dramatic." Seokjin waves me over impatiently. "It's not like we came far."

"Do you know how hard the last level was?"

"I was there of course I know!"

"Then why did you start over?"

"You left!"

"I didn't!"

"Just play!" Taehyung intercept with a spark of annoyance.
