Author’s POV

 

Royalty has been practicing really hard for their debut showcase.  Over these past few days, each member has been working on perfecting each and every performance that they are going to be doing.

Hyun and Jeong were extremely excited for their duo performance. . .especially Hyun since he said he wanted to perform shirtless. . .yeah. . .that’s Hyun for you.

For the girls performance, Scynthia and Rose were extremely excited for theirs.  Ann, on the other hand, was not excited at all.  Apparently, their song was really girly and kind of. . .y.  Luckily, Ann didn’t have to wear heels like the other two because of her ankle.  However, she still had to wear the very revealing outfit.  There routine was a little bit of a challenge, as well, since it was originally made for four girls, so they had to change a few things to fit the three of them.

“I can’t believe you cannot walk in heels. Are you even a girl?” Rose asks.

Ann just shrugs.  “I never had to wear heels for soccer or dancing, just cleats, sneakers or ballet shoes.”

Rose rolls her eyes before glaring at Scynthia.  “You didn’t do anything about this? You’ve known her for how long?”

Scynthia puts her hands up in defense.  “Hey, hey. I tried, believe me. It’s better for her not to wear heels. She may actually break both of her legs.”

“Aish! So, how is this going to look with two people wearing heels and one not?” Rose asks, making Scynthia and Ann shrug.

Rose then forms this big smile on her face.  “We have a few hours to spare. I’m going to teach you how to walk in heels and then you’re going to dance in them tomorrow!”

Ann’s eyes widen.  “W-what? I rather not.”

"Too bad because you are," Rose says before getting a pair of heels.

"B-but my ankle," Ann says.

Rose soon comes back with the shoes.  "That's just an excuse. Besides, you'll be wearing these for about five minutes. If you can spin on that ankle then you sure can walk in some heels."

“Oh wow. This is going to be so entertaining,” Scynthia says as she takes a seat and pulls our her phone and begins recording, ready for the show to begin.

 

 

 

While Royalty was busy practicing their hearts out, three of the BTS members were having a chat with the CEO.

 

 

CEO’s Office

 

“So, you guys want me to do that? During the showcase?” Mr. Bang asks again.

“Yes, sir,” of the members say.

“And you think this idea will go well? You three do know this is a live show, right?” Mr. Bang asks.

“Yes but we all think everything will go smoothly,” another member says.

“We do indeed. We think it will be a great surprise.”

"I don't know. This has a chance of going terribly wrong," Mr. Bang says.

"If it does, I will take full responsibity."

Mr. Bang looks at the three boys in front of him.  “Alright,” he says, “I’ll see what I can do.”

“Thank you so much, sir,” and the three members stood and bowed before leaving.

 

“You think this will work?”

One sighs before answering, “It has to work. I can’t let that happen so this plan just has to work.”

“Alright. We’re down then. Anything to help.”

“Thanks guys.”

 

 

 

Cafeteria

 

“Alright guys,” Hyejin starts off, “tomorrow is the big day,” she says before smiling.

Royalty is taking a lunch break and Hyejin decided it would be a good time to tell their schedules for tomorrow.

“I can’t believe this is happening!” Rose squeals.

“We’ve practiced way too hard so I think it’s about time,” Hyun says.

"Tell me about it. My feet are killing me," Ann says while glaring at Rose who just smiles and shrugs.

“I happen to agree with you, Hyun. But, I just wanted to let you know what the schedule for tomorrow is going to be. As you know, it’s going to be pretty hectic. You guys have to be up and ready by 6am, no later,” saying the last part while looking at Ann.

“Yes, unnie,” Ann says dejectedly.

“Anyways. We’re going straight to Mnet studios, as your debut showcase will be a special on their show. Your debut will have hosts, of course. Anyways, you guys are going to go through a sound check and then thoroughly practice your performances like it was the real thing. That means, lights, dancers, props, and all. So during that time, I really need you all to focus. This time is to make sure we can get everything close to perfect as we can and it also lets us know what needs rearranging. Got it?”

“Yes noona/unnie,” everyone says.

“Good. The time between rehearsals and the actual showcase, you guys will have a mini break. But once the showcase starts, it’s going to be nonstop. Once someone is done with their performance and/or stage talk, you are to leave the stage and go straight to the dressing room. You guys only have about an average of 4 minutes to changed and get makeup done. And trust me, everything isn’t going to go as planned and there are going to be surprises, just a fair warning. But the most important thing is that you all have fun and give an amazing show for everyone who has been supporting you. Any questions?”

“Will we get the final set list today or at rehearsal tomorrow?” Jeong asks.

“You will get it tomorrow morning but as far as I know, the schedule of performances hasn’t changed from the ones you all got a few days ago,” Hyejin answers.

“In addition,” Hyejin adds on, “Your guys’ show will be filming a live episode. So that means you’ll be getting filmed during the first half of the day. You guys should just act normal but I just wanted to remind you, in case you were weirded out why producers were coming to you to ask questions and such.”

“And make sure you guys each bring an outfit of your choosing.  During your solo performances, you’ll be wearing your own thing. This way, the fans can watch the real you perform, without all of the glitter and makeup and over the top outfits. Ann, you are to bring two outfits, one to wear during Rose and Hyun’s performance, and one for your and Scyn’s. And Ann, don’t forget your ankle brace. I don’t want to have to embarrass you in front of everyone because you left it at the dorm or you forgot to put it on.”

“Of course, unnie!” Ann says before bashfully smiling.

“I think that’s everything. I’ll make sure to tell you guys anything if I get informed,” Hyejin says.

 

 

 

Royalty leaves lunch and goes back to practicing for a few more hours before calling it a day.

 

 

 

At the Dorm

 

Everyone was in their pajamas ready to go to bed.

“Well everyone. Tomorrow is the big day. I want you all to get a good night’s sleep because tomorrow is going to be crazy,” Jeong says.

“I can’t believe it. It’s so surreal,” Scynthia says.

“Mhmm. I feel so nervous already,” Ann says.

“Everything will be fine. I mean, if you guys mess up, it’ll be okay because all eyes will be on me anyways,” Hyun says while smiling.

“YAH! You are not the center of attention,” Rose exclaims.

“I’m kidding, I’m kidding. But we’re all going to do great, so just relax and get some sleep because we’ll need it,” Hyun says.

The rest agreed and soon they all fell asleep.  They decided to all sleep in the living room, as they were all anxious and excited to sleep by themselves.

 

 

 

 

The Next Day: D-Day!

 

“Wow. It’s so big,” Ann says as she scans her surroundings.  They all have arrived at Mnet's building.

“And we really get to perform on this stage?” Scynthia asks.

“Of course,” Hyejin says.  “Royalty will be having their debut right here.”

“I don’t even know how to feel right now,” Hyun adds.

“Wow, that’s a first. But I agree with you. I’m still pretty shocked,” Rose says.

“Our day has finally come, guys,” Jeong says with a proud smile.

“Everyone, please be seated!” someone yells.

“Oh, that’s the stage director. Let’s go have a seat,” Hyejin says before leading them off to the seats near the stage.

 

As they reached the seats, they noticed a lot of people already seated.  There were the dancers, band members, as well as BTS and N.T.  Royalty went to go join the latter two.

“Great. Now that everyone is here, I’ll get started. As you may or may not know, I am the stage director for tonight’s show. Before I begin, I would like to say a big congratulations to Royalty. I’m sure you all are really proud and excited and I wish you the guys best of luck,” the director says.

Everyone then broke out into an applause, making each member of Royalty smile from ear to ear.

“Okay. So now, we will talk about the performances. Today’s rehearsals will be about working with everyone and the extras. That includes the different staging and lifts and such. Our people have already done a sound check and made sure all the lifts and things worked well. Of course, we’ll be redoing these checks as you all rehearse. Now, before we begin, let’s review the schedule for tonight.

Now, I know you all may be shocked at the amount of performances we have. We, at Mnet, are really excited for Royalty’s debut, so we wanted to make it extra special. We’ve planned for this to go on for about an hour but it will most likely be over that time, which is okay.

So, first, Royalty will be performing their first single, No Exit. Royalty will of course be given an introduction. After the performance, you guys will do a talk, introducing yourselves and just engaging with the fans. You all then will leave the stage.

The time between the ending of your performance and the next one, extra footage and interviews will be playing on the big screen. While this is happening, you all will be getting ready for the next performance, which will be Jeong and Ann’s dance. You two's rehearsal will be important because the whole stage and many different lifts will be used, as there will also be many people during this performance.

Right after their performance, Namjoon, Rose, and Taehyun will come out. This way, it’ll calm the crowd down but without losing interest.

Following will be Jungkok, Hyun, and Ann's performance.

The next performance will be Hoseok and Scynthia’s, so you two can hype the crowd back up.

Next will be Yoongi, Jeong, and Jin’s performance. Because Jeong will be in the next few performances, he’ll be able to get a break after this.

Jimin and Ann’s performance will be up next. You guys will first sing your song, followed by your routine.

Next will be Rose, Jeong, and Hyun’s performance. After this, you three will stay on stage and Scynthia will appear. Then the four of you will do your performance.

Next, there will be a preview like thing playing on the big screen for Royalty and N.T’s rookie battle.  During this time, both groups are to get ready.

After the battle, Royalty will perform the group cover song. Then, N.T will come back on stage and perform a song or two.  While this is going on, Royalty will be getting ready for their solo acts. Rose will go first, then Jeong, Hyun, and then lastly, Ann and Scynthia.

After that, Hyun and Jeong will perform followed by the girls.

BTS will then perform a few songs and then they will introduce Royalty and you all will perform the second single, Good Luck. You guys will then make your ending speeches and that’s where your debut will end. Wow, I feel like I’m throwing a full on concert here,” the director says before laughing.

“Okay,” the director starts, “during the live showcase, the two hosts of the event will be introducing each performance, giving you guys more time to do whatever backstage and stuff.”

“Will this be streamed online?” Scynthia asks.

The director nods.  “It will indeed. So your guys’ family and friends who are overseas will be able to watch.”

Scynthia happily nods at the answer.

“Now, if there aren’t anymore questions, let’s start rehearsing. Royalty, you’re up first. These guys by the stairs will help you with your mics and stuff,” the director says before leaving the stage.

 

 

 

Rose’s POV

I took a sip of my water, watching Jeong and Ann’s performance.  I have to say, it looks really cool, especially the whole masked, vampire, zombie theme going on. 

“We’re next babe,” Namjoon says as he comes to stand beside me.  He then leans down and kisses my cheek.

I face him and smile.  “I know.”

Just then, Taehyun comes and joins us.  “Woo, looks like I’m just in time.”  I look back at the stage to see that Jeong and Ann are finished.

“Namjoon, Rose, and Taehyun, places!” the director yells.

“Fighting!” Taehyun says and then we walk onto stage, getting into our places.

 

 

 

Everything was going really well.  It was now Joon’s part, so me and Tae left for the side of the stage.  As I turn around to face the stage, I see this girl with Namjoon.

“Who’s that?” I ask Tae.

“Oh, she’s the dancer who supposedly dances around hyung while he raps,” he says.

“Ah, Minki did say there would be extras during the real performance,” I say.

I continued watching and I couldn’t help but cringe.  It’s all part of the performance, I kept telling myself.  That was until this one part came.

His hand swings up and he barely missed touching her .  She then comes to him and puts both hands on him, one on his shoulder and the other on his chest.  She then moves her hand up on his chest, towards his neck.  Before I know it, Joon pushes her away.  Thank goodness.

It was time for me and Tae to go back to the stage.  We soon finished our song.

“Very good, guys. Next!” the director says.

 

I had to stop at the end of the stage so I could give the mics back.  I then went to catch up with Tae and Joon, only to see that dancer girl again.  I couldn’t help but sigh.  I hate to admit but she’s really pretty and a really good dancer, not as good as Ann, of course.

I was about to continue to find those two when I heard a familiar voice.

“Thanks, you were good, too.” Joon? Is that who’s she’s talking to?

I shake my head.  No, he wouldn’t do anything.  He’s just talking to her.  I was going to start walking again until I heard the dancer’s next words.

“You know, I think we make a pretty good duo. You can rap and I can dance around you,” she says in this annoying, girly voice.  She then puts her arms around his neck.

“Maybe we can even be more than that, if you know what I mean,” she says and I see her wink. 

“We would make a pretty y couple. If you thought my dancing was good, imagine all of the other things I could do,” she says in this seductive voice.

 

But before I could witness anymore, I turned my direction and walked off, feeling tears forming in my eyes.

I hurriedly blink my eyes, making the tears go away.

No.  No way am I crying over a guy.

 

 

 

 

Author’s POV

 

Soon enough, everyone finally went through their performances.  Some things needed to be fix or changed here and there, but overall, everything went really well.

Everyone was just relaxing and resting after that hard rehearsal.

 

“Guys, the producers want to interview Royalty and N.T,” Hyejin says to them.

“Alright,” Jeong says and everyone follows Hyejin.

 

Royalty and N.T were seated in chairs that formed a half U.  The interviewer, Lee Jung-shin, sat in front of them all.

 

“Hi guys. N.T, it’s nice seeing you all again,” Jung-shin says with a smile.

“Nice seeing you, as well,” Seoyoon nicely greeted back.

“And it’s my pleasure of meeting Royalty for the first time,” Jung-shin happily says.

“You, too. We’re extremely excited to be here,” Jeong says.

Jung-shin smiles.  “So, I’m just going to ask you all a few questions. We’ll start with N.T. Do you have any advice on for Royalty who will be debuting in the music industry?”

“I just think you all should have fun with it. Yeah, sometimes you need to be serious but just make sure you all enjoy the ride,” Cassy says.

“I agree. And don’t forget to always thank your fans. Without them, no one would be where they are today,” Serena adds.

“That’s great advice and I completely agree with it. Next question. This one is for Royalty. Lately, we’ve been noticing how you’ve been calling your fans Royals. Is that the official fandom name?”

“I don’t know. We haven’t really discussed it. Jeong oppa started calling our fans that first and then we all did. It just began to come out naturally, I guess,” Rose says.

“Maybe we can ask them tonight. We can see if they like being called Royals,” Jeong says with a smile.

Jung-shin nods.  “Alright. Everyone has heard that you guys will be having a performance battle. Is this true? And is there a winner?”

“I guess we can answer this,” Jihye begins, “there will be a group battle. It’s called Battle of the Rookies. We’ve been rehearsing it and we don’t see it as a battle. It’s more of a fun and friendly competition. It’s really cool to share the stage with Royalty. They’re all really talented and all around awesome people to hang out with.”

Scynthia nods.  “It’s really fun being able to collaborate and perform with N.T. It’s like we’re showing everyone two different genres of music on one stage. I think the fans will like our two groups mashing up and just having fun because that’s what we’re basically doing.”

“Wow, you guys have some amazing answers. I wish I was this good at interviews when C.N. Blue first started,” Jung-shin says, making everyone laugh.

“Okay. Ann, we’ve been watching your rehearsals and we’ve noticed that you’re in many performances. Does that make you the star of tonight? Are you a triple threat like Skylen?”

Ann nervously chuckles.  “I wish I was like Skylen unnie but unfortunately, I’m not. I don’t think I’m anywhere as talented as everyone here. I mean, I do think I dance pretty well but other than that, everyone here, pretty much has me beat, especially in Royalty.  Jeong oppa can dance many different styles and he can even bboy and his rapping is really amazing! Hyun oppa can dance and sing very, very well. He reminds me of Justin Timberlake sometimes. I mean, oppa even acts in dramas and stuff and J.T. acts as well. Rose unnie has such a beautiful voice! I wish one day I could have half the talent she does. Scynthia is pretty amazing all around. She raps like a total boss, dances pretty well, and can even sing. I’m just glad to be able to be part of Royalty.”

“Aww, we love you dongsaeng!” Rose says before getting up to hug Ann.

“Why can’t our maknae say things like that?” Skylen asks while looking at Cassy.

“I would. I just don’t have anyone to say those things about,” Cassy says with a smirk.

“YAH!” Seyoon yells.

“I kid, I kid, unnie! N.T is a group of talented girls and I am very lucky to be part of this group,” Cassy says with a smile.

Jung-shin couldn’t help but laugh.  “Okay, next question. Hyun, are you really the face of the group?”

“Of course I am! I mean, look at this,” Hyun says as he scans himself with his hand, “how could this not be the face of the group?”

“Tch. I don’t know what I’m going to do about you,” Jeong says while shaking his head,making everyone chuckle and laugh.

Hyun starts chuckling.  “I’m kidding. We don’t have a face of the group. I’d say we’re all pretty decent looking people, so there’s no need for one. I mean, they’re in a group with me, so of course they have to be at least decent looking,” Hyun says before chuckling.  “But in all seriousness, I feel like having a face of the group would put more attention on one specific member instead of the group as a whole. And Royalty sure deserves to be looked at as one. “

“That was so sweet oppa!” Scynthia exclaims.

“Very nicely put. Okay, this is for N.T. When is your next comeback? Us Chunsas are really looking forward to your next single,” Jung-shin says.

“Well, that’s for us to know and you to find out,” Skylen says before winking at the camera.

 

The interview goes on like this for few more questions.  The interview soon ends and both groups are dismissed.  N.T chats with Royalty for a while before getting called by their manager.  They all wished Royalty good luck and said they would see them later.

 

Royalty decided to go get some food, since they really haven’t had any yet.  Jeong told Hyejin that they were going to the cafeteria before leaving.

 

Once they got their food, they found a table to sit at.  Everyone began eating and talking amongst themselves.

Ann, being the observer, noticed that Rose was being awfully quiet, which was really strange, especially since her and Hyun were the big talkers of the group.

Ann nudges Scynthia to get her attention and points at Rose.

“Has she been crying? Her eyes seem pretty red,” Scynthia whispers to Ann, who just shrugs before tapping Rose’s shoulder, making the quiet one look up.

“Are you okay unnie?” Ann asks.

“I’m just peachy,” Rose says before looking back at her food.

“Something definitely happened,” Scynthia says.

“You know you can tell us, right? Maybe we can help,” Ann says.

Rose scoffs.  “You can’t help two-timing jerks and thirsty homewreckers, now can you?”

“Ummm, did something happen between you and Namjoon?” Scynthia asks.

Rose sighs before dropping her fork on her plate.  This makes Hyun and Jeong turn their attention to them.

“I saw the girl dancer that’s part of our performance all over him, saying how they would make a good couple and other dirty things.”

“Do I need to beat someone up? I know he’s part of BTS and all but still. I’m ready if needbe,” Jeong angrily says.

“Hyung, calm down. Let’s not go there, yet,” Hyun says.

“Well, what did oppa do?” Ann asks.

“I don’t know. I left before I witnessed anything else,” Rose says.

“Well, there’s your answer. You need to talk to him and clear things up. I’m sure it looked like something it wasn’t,” Ann says.

Rose runs a hand through her hair.  “I don’t know. I’m pretty sure of what I saw. And besides, I really don’t want to see nor do I want to talk to him right now.”

“It’s your decision but I agree with Ann. You should talk to him and at least give him the chance to explain. I've learned that the hard way,” Scynthia says.

“And if it goes badly, come back and tell us. BTS will be alright as a six member group,” Hyun says.

Scynthia just rolled her eyes at the two while Ann smiled.

Rose couldn’t help but chuckle and feel happy about how much her members care about her.  “Thanks, guys.”

 

The gang soon went back to eating and talking before someone came to their table.

 

 

 

“Well, well, well. Fancy seeing you here, isn’t it?”
