Two.
Lifeline.“Appa let me help you with that.” Byunghun holds out his right arm to take his father’s doctor coat as well as his briefcase from him.
Andy smiles affectionately before passing all the items he was holding to Byunghun before ruffling his hair.
“Appa! Stop that, I’m all grown up now, look we’re even working together!” He whined as he swept his father’s hand away from his head, his hair now messy from his father’s touch. He quickly shook his mane of luscious black locks and combed his fingers through them to straighten his hair out.
“You’ll always be my baby son.” Andy chuckles as they head out of the hospital to the carpark where he has parked his jet black Mercedes Benz CLA 180.
Byunghun clicks open the boot and loaded all their belongings in before opening the door to the passenger seat and entering the car. Andy opens the door on the other side before sliding into his seat and taking the steering wheel. The father and son duo then drove off back to their home where a dinner feast was already prepared for them by their caretaker.
Andy pulls his car up in front of a huge house as Byunghun alights from the vehicle. He quickly removes all their belongings from the boot before his father drives off to park their car in the front porch while Byunghun reaches into his pockets for their house keys.
Opening the door, he was greeted with the aroma of roasted teriyaki chicken and soy bean paste stew. A petite woman smiles warmly as she helped him with his coat, taking it from him and hanging it onto the wooden hat and coat rack standing tall beside a finely carved wooden shoe cabinet.
With deep dimples and soft gentle features, the woman looks not a day over 40. But in reality, the Lee’s caretaker Hyori is in fact already in her mid 50s and has taken care of little Byunghun since the day he was wee tiny baby.
“Umma Hyori!” Byunghun greets like a bright child as he sets the belongings he was holding onto atop the shoe cabinet. She embraces him into her arms and his cold left cheek. Byunghun returns the hug as he laid his head on her chest. Exactly like a kid and despite being petite, Byunghun was still slightly smaller than Hyori and fitted comfortably in her arms. Hyori has taken over the role of Byunghun’s mother since she passed away when he was 3 and cared for him as though he was her own son. Some even thought of Hyori as Andy’s second wife but their relationship goes nothing more than just a caretaker he employed to care for Byunghun and their household.
“Sir.” Hyori greeted Andy as well as he sauntered into the house and took off his coat to hang it on the wooden hat and coat rack as well.
“Anneyeong Hyori ah” Andy returned her greeting with a wide smile as he took a deep whiff of the aroma of food she had prepared.
“Roasted chicken?” He mused as Hyori nodded cheerfully.
“My favourite!” Byunghun shrieks in delight as he dashed into the dining room with light footsteps. Andy and Hyori exchanged a glance before bursting out into peals of laughter at Byunghun’s adorable action.
Grand was an understatement to describe the Lee’s dining room. It was filled lavishly with the most exquisite furnitures for Andy was someone that loves splurging on interior designing. He believed that a home should be filled with things he loved to make the place feel warm and comfy, where the people living in it would hold this place close to heart. He wanted to create the safest haven for Byunghun to live and grow up in. The walls were a creamy pale brown, resembling milk chocolate. A large rose chandelier hung from the high ceiling, illuminating the entire dining room a bright fluorescent. Antique looking white dining chairs rimmed with gold surrounds a polished white galaxy quartz dining table in the middle of the room.
“Have you washed your hands?” Hyori smacked Byunghun’s small hand that was reaching for the chicken drumstick.
He was mischievously kneeling on the seat as he reached out for the savory dish placed right in the centre of the table.
“Ah I just washed them umma, you don’t believe me? Smell my hands then! They smell like soap!” Byunghun shoved his hands in Hyori’s face as Hyori frowned and held them away from her.
“This boy.” She could only shake her head as she tried to hide her affectionate smile.

Byunghun lets out a long sigh as he retired into his room for the night.
The 500 square feet room showcases Byunghun’s personality perfectly. The clean white walls were complemented with a framed 8R sized photo on the wall of Andy and himself taken on the day he graduated from medical school, donning a graduation gown and a bouquet of flowers in his right hand with a wide smile on his face. The large room is rather bare with a queen sized bed stood in the middle of the room and a simple white acrylic closet that stretches from the ceiling to the floor resides just next to the bed. A white table sits quietly in the order corner of the room where more framed photos of Byunghun and Andy can be seen displayed on the table itself together with a 13 inch Macbook Pro lying beside the framed memories.
Byunghun sits on the edge of his bed as he reached for an old tattered photograph from inside a drawer next to his bed. In the photo was a tiny toddler no older than a year with a pacifier in his mouth, holding him was a young couple. Adding a few wrinkles and some grey hair, the man in the photo would resemble Andy.
“Umma, I missed you.” He whispered to himself as he caressed the face of the woman in the picture fondly.
Being a doctor wasn’t easy, especially when Byunghun was a pediatrician and his patients were little children. Children were the hardest patients to handle as most children detests doctors and have extremely short attention span. Spending 36 hours with children each shift was a pain in the for Byunghun but also a joy. He adores such young tiny humans and would love to one
