Chapter 23
One More Time
Jungmin’s POV
“Uh...” I woke up with a terrible headache and the banging that I was hearing was making it worse.
“Finally you decided to wake up.” I looked up to try and see who it was but winced when the light was too bright.
“Drink this. It helps.” I took the pills and honey water.
“What are you doing here brat.” I said to Xin. Like any other day she would pester me non-stop.
“Babo! Who else took care of you? Aisshhh if you’re going to drink make sure you don’t have a fever.” I heard her ramble.
“Fever?” I felt my forehead and indeed it was more than my usual warm temperature.
“Kyu jong dropped in a while ago and brought you some change of clothes. You’re excused from practices if you don’t want to attend. I’ll go now.” I heard her say.
“Wait!” I tried to reach her hand in an attempt to call her but I ended up tripping.
“Ouch!...” I whined and kick off the blanket that pooled around my feet that caused my fall.
“Why are you so lost today?” I saw her put her arms on her hips while I was just smiling.
“Ei...now you look like a real brat.” I said as I tried to stand up.
“Quit it. I know you’re just trying to be jolly. Food is on the table. Be back in this afternoon. Take the pills near your water after you eat your lunch. Bye.” I blinked a few times.
“Since when did she learn to see right through me?” I said in disbelief. Remembering what she said to him last night about letting go of someone’s hand then he pouted when he remembered his drunken response.
“Well...might as well follow her majesty kick brat...” I said out loud as I walked towards the table. Chuckling at the drawing with a written note near the plate.
"Don't u have anything else in your fridge than carrots? You'll turn into an orange giraffe..." I shook my head at the note as I read it out loud.
End of POV
“Ya! Get up!” Min Ah sat on Lee’s back when she caught him snoozing at her bed.
Like any other night for these past three weeks the two have been working hard on finishing their entry for the finals of the competition, which would be the presentation of the project itself.
“You heartless woman, let me get some beauty sleep or else my boyfriend might dump me.” Lee said sleepily and smacked her thighs hard.
“Ouch! Ya!” Min Ah giggled, blowing a small yawn of her own.
“Sleep. It feels good.” Lee said.
“Ke Ke ne...” Min Ah said when she laid down on Lee’s back.
“Ugh! You’re a heavy monster...” Lee complained and lifted his head.
“Sssshhh...Sleep...” Min Ah said in a low voice and Lee immediately lowered his head and fell back to sleep.
“Such a baby...” Min Ah said. She was actually just playing with him.
“And you’re not?” She turned to see Youngsaeng and Kyu jong standing at her door.
“Ke Ke how long have you been there?” Min Ah embarrassingly asked.
“From the heavy monster part.” Kyu jong said and went in, placing the drinks he was carrying on the side table.
“That long huh?” Min Ah said stood up, strecthing.
“Why don’t you sleep as well? It’s...3am.” Youngsaeng told her and paused for a while to look at the time.
“Anni. In two weeks time we have to present this, it must be perfect.” Min Ah said and took a sandwich from the plate that Youngsaeng was carrying and sat down at her study desk.
“Don’t mind us. Just work.” Kyu jong said as he sat on the floor and unrolled all the rolls of paper scattered. From his estimation it was around 40 rolls.
Youngsaeng had been supporting and looking out for her these three weeks. It was simple things like checking if she and Lee were not strangling each other’s neck, or simply bringing in snacks but Min Ah appreciated it. It helped her find some sense of calmness from her chaotic world.
1. She was troubled over Jungmin’s avoidance.
2. Jungmin and Youngsaeng were having a silent war.
3. She was feeling pressured towards the competition.
“How many more do you have to get done?” Youngsaeng peered from her shoulder. Looking at the drawings she was sketching from one paper to another.
“3 more then we just have to spend the rest of the time doing the model and the presentation itself.” Min Ah replied. Not bothering to look at him as she was concentrating. She wanted every line to be perfect.
“It sure is boring. Our two HJ are busy having their usual secret dates, Xin is busy with her secret world, Jungmin is busy being a Horse, and Youngsaeng is busy being my dongsaeng’s knight in shining apron.” Kyu jong said and laid down beside Lee but not before placing a huge pillow in between them.
“Knight in shining apron? Can you think of something else than that?” Youngsaeng asked him as he just sat down at the chair a little far from Min Ah like he always does.
“You’re her domestic maid so shining apron is appropriate.” Kyu jong said. Smiling at his remark.
“Ke Ke it is kind of cute but do lifeguards wear aprons?” Min Ah joined in the conversation but pouted when she made a mistake from averting her attention.
“Hmm...You find that amusing huh?” Youngsaeng replied with his lips purse.
Min Ah’s POV
“Ke Ke if Lee sees this he’ll faint.” I said to myself as I took my camera and snap a shot of him and Kyu jong sleeping on my bed.
I quietly went out of my room as to not disturb the sleeping guys since Youngsaeng was also dead asleep on my couch, thinking that I should just make breakfast.
“Xin? Where are you going?” I asked her when I saw her heading towards the front door.
“You’re still awake? I need to meet someone.” She replied and I just nodded and told her to take care.
“Her life sure us thrilling.” I said to myself. Remembering the conversation we had yesterday.
Flashback
“Min Ah can you keep a secret?” Xin suddenly asked me while we were having our afternoon tea. The guys were out for their schedule so she decided to drop by my office.
“Depends. If it is about a secret love then I might be too excited to seal my lips.” I replied and she just laughed at me.
“Aiggoo it’s not that.” She waved both her hands in front. Her cast was removed a week ago.
“Then what is it?” I asked her.
“Is my brother still pestering you here?” I smiled before answering her question.
“He comes here everyday. Demanding a daily report on how you are.”
“Sheesshh he never changed.”
“That’s because you won’t allow him to see you.”
“There’s reason...If he visits me often then Uncle Yi would find out where I am...and everything will be wasted cause he’ll kill me.” I just nodded and waited for her to continue.
“Before I left, I accidentally stumbled across his illegal withdrawing of the company’s money and the fact that he hired someone to kill my father.” She said eyes staring at her tea.
“Why don’t you report it to the authorities?” I asked. Now I was concerned about her safety, and anger was forming inside me. Because the man she was hiding from was the man I was trying to compete with.
“I can’t report anything without evidence. So I ran away and hired someone to do the investigation for me. The evidence is almost complete now.” I felt relieved at her reply.
“I can understand. Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone. Anyone else who knows?” I asked her. Trying to calm my angry nerves.
“Just you and Si Yun. No one else.”
“Arasso. Now. When do you want to propose to Jungmin?” I asked her and I chuckled when she gave me that astounded look.
“De. I know. It shows but don’t worry, the others don’t have a clue. Let’s just say it’s a girl thing.”
[b]End of Flashback[b/]
It was not like I have totally forgotten my feelings about Jungmin. But more like the feeling of never forgetting your first love and like any other first love, you move on and feel happy when you find out that somebody would be there for them.
Now was not the time to think about love. Especially when the one who caused such a deep scar inside Xin’s heart was also the man who almost caused me my dreams a year ago.
