Take me Out to the Ballgame

A Sick Game Called 'Love'

AN: This took some time because I couldn’t JZin for the life of me like jzin became pain and still is pain but it’s okay I managed to do the jzin so yay. Also yay. Idk I’m pretty excite and no its not because it’s almost 4am.

Take me Out to the Ballgame

Janey let out a longing sigh, ever since her few, precious hours spent with Zin she hasn’t been able to focus in school. She wanted nothing more than to see the officer but her father hired even more bodyguards for her, they never left her sight.

Dani waved an object in front of her face, taking her out of her haze. She snatched the object out of her best friend’s hand, brows furrowing together in confusion. She slid the answer bar over. “Jiyeonnie?”

Yooooooo. Heyyy you should come visit me.”

“Are you high?” Janey’s confusion stayed etched on her features as she waited at the bus stop with the annoyed teen next to her.

“Mayyyyybe.”

“Who the hell are you talking to? Who gave you a phone? You haven’t called Hyomin yet have you?”

The young girl’s eyes lit up upon hearing the other voice, recognizing it instantly. “I will come visit you even if you’re high, just make sure she stays there.”

“Yayyyyyyyy everyone loves Jiyeon.”

Janey rolled her eyes, ending the call before turning to hug her best friend. “Something came up,” she winked making sure the other girl understood her message.

“Have fun then, no funny business.” Dani shook off her agitation, knowing that her best friend needed to see the officer even if she didn’t like it.

Janey stepped into the family’s town car, ever since the day she met Zin her father forced her to go everywhere in that car. She knew it was for her safety but it was mostly a hassle. She told the driver to take her to the hospital, ignoring the strange look the man gave her as he took off, another car full of her bodyguards following them.

Arriving at the hospital, she left her car to be joined by two of her bodyguards from the other car. They followed her up to the reception desk, her disinterested face seemed to put the woman at ease from the hulking men behind her. “Byun Seungmi to see Sergeant Park Jiyeon.”

“Will they be needing passes as well Miss Byun?” The nurse asked as she checked the allowed visitors list, seeing the girl’s name near the bottom just above Park Hyomin.

“No, only me.” Janey gave the woman a look of hope, hope that the annoying men wouldn’t be able to follow her. The woman nodded, filling out only one pass.

The girl took the pass once it was handed to her, thanking her as she skipped off towards the room designated on the pass. The men tried getting passes to follow her but the woman denied them, telling them that they weren’t on the list.

Janey skipped her way along until she was just beside the open doorway. She took a deep breath before entering, finding Jiyeon with a loopy smile while a tall nurse looms over her, checking her tubes. Next to the bed sat Zin in one of the hospital chairs, shaking her head at her high as a kite friend.

Seeing that the officer hadn’t noticed her, she slowly crept behind the woman latching her arms around her neck before lowering her head next to hers. “Hi Zinnie!”

Said woman jumped to her feet, nearly knocking Janey over but on reflex she caught her. “W-what are you doing here?”

Janey smiled at the woman, giving her a quick peck on the lips before answering. “Jiyeonnie called me and asked me to visit her, it’s just a bonus that you’re here too.”

“Yes it is.” The voice made Janey cling protectively to the officer, not allowing her to leave like the last time.

“What do you want father?” Zin tried to pry the teen off of her, the look on Mr. Byun’s face was foreign to her, it looked like he was having an internal battle.

“I received a uh phone call today from Captain Park. She seemed very adamant when she discredited my bodyguards, saying that they were helping kidnappers try and steal you away. Is this true?”  The man avoided looking at the pair, Lizzy was too preoccupied with Jiyeon to care.

“Yes sir.” Zin answered quickly, not wanting to give the man any time to think, knowing full well where this conversation was leading.

“Captain Park also informed me of your quick response in making sure that my Seungmi was safe. She suggested, that I allow you to return to your former division and protect my baby again.” Janey started squealing and bouncing around in excitement, never releasing Zin. Lizzy gave her the saltiest of looks but went back to her work. “But, that does not mean I condone this…relationship…of yours. It’s highly inappropriate, but I don’t want to lose my daughter so I will tolerate it.”

The girl detached from a stunned Zin, the officer knew where things were going but didn’t expect to be that shocked by it. “Thank you daddy!”

**

It was another usual day at the office for Boa, approving bills and signing construction permits. All she wanted to do when she got home was relax outside, but the rain that night wouldn’t allow her to. It had come out of nowhere, she thought that maybe something bad had happened.

It was dark when she finally made it to her soft, warm bed. Strangely enough, she hadn’t seen Ana at all. She had her table lamp on while she read through more bills waiting to be signed, reading glasses resting against the bridge of her nose with nothing but a large t-shirt to cover her body. A knock at her balcony door garnered her attention, outside she could see a reflection of herself, drenched in rain. She hurried to unlock the door and allow the woman inside, “What the hell were you doing out in this weather? We need to get you out of these clothes.”

Ana stood still as the mayor removed her soaked jacket. “Perimeter clear, no hostiles in the area.”

“Giant baby, you could have stayed inside and do that. Getting drenched was unnecessary.” Boa chastised the woman while removing her chest holster, carefully setting it down against one of the sofa chairs.

“It was necessary,” Ana waited until the slightly older woman was lifting her tank top over her head, “it got you to undress me.”

Before Boa could form a protest, her lips were seized as well as her hips, her body being moved back towards her bed. Her hands rested against the taller woman’s upper chest towards her neck, applying slight pressure to the hot, moist skin.

The back of her knees hit the edge of the mattress, sending her to her back, Ana climbing on top of her. Hands s under her shirt, trailing up her sides, taking the shirt with her. Boa’s hands left the fiery skin of the taller’s neck to latch on to her forearm, stopping any further movement upwards and eventually removing them from under her shirt.

Ana pulled away, realization hitting her as she stared down at the flushed woman who avoided eye contact with her. “I-I’m sorry I forgot that you’re still a-”

“It’s fine…just um, go take a shower. I’m not taking care of you if you get sick.” Boa climbed out from beneath the woman, reclaiming her position on her bed, resuming her work to distract herself from the growing heat between her legs.

Ana returned five minutes later, hair damp but no longer cold, a different tank top that Boa had never seen before along with a pair of shorts. She’d have to remember to investigate her closet for any signs of the younger’s invasion.

As the woman slid onto the bed next to her, watching her as she worked, Boa couldn’t help but notice the various scars on the woman’s body that she hadn’t noticed before. She set the papers on her nightstand, sitting up with her legs pressed together as if she was wearing a skirt. Ana fell onto her back, knowing full well what was to occur. Boa’s finger lightly traced the long, jagged tissue from the woman’s outer thigh diagonally down to the center. “Where did you get that?”

The younger mulled over, trying to remember where she had received the injury. “Mm, I think that one was from a knife, it was a lucky hit from a not so lucky guy.”

Boa shuddered, her hand twitching against the woman’s skin. “Are there any that haven’t been from killing people?”

A soft smile appeared on Ana’s lips as her hand traveled to the waistline of her shorts, just over her hip. The pure woman’s hand shot to the hand, stopping it from proceeding any further. Ana let out a light laugh, using her other hand to remove Boa’s. “Relax, remember the first time I snuck in here and you flipped me on top of the desk? Well you hit my hip pretty hard, hard enough for the gash to scar.”

The older of the two let out a small apology, giving off a half-smile when she saw the small mark on the woman’s hip.

“That’s it, everything else came from my occupation.” Ana rolled back onto her side, waiting for Boa to lie back with her.

After recovering from the shock of how many scars she had seen on the woman and that all of them came from her job, Boa reclaimed her position for the second time that night, going back to her papers. Only this time, there was an arm slung over her waist and a head resting on her pillow.

**

Jea spun around in her chair slowly, trying to elongate the motion to pass the most time. Boredom was apparent in her mannerisms, she stared at her phone, tempted to call her wife to pass time. She flung herself at her phone when it started vibrating on her desk, eager to answer whoever it was. “Hello?”

“Someone’s antsy, how’s my mommy?”

“Daddy I’m bored come save me.” She whined into the phone, hearing the light laughter she loved.

“Fine, but no offices it’s my day off.”

Jea groaned, looking around her office as she thought of things to do. Her eyes landed on her assistant and it suddenly dawned on her. “There’s a softball game today, that’s not an office.”

“As you wish, my liege.”

“I’m not a queen, but I love you anyways you strange, strange daddy. Do you hear that baby Jea? Daddy’s a weirdo.” Jea spoke to her stomach more than the phone.

“But you’re my queen and I love you…and stop feeding our child lies!”

“Bye creeper daddy!” The pregnant woman ended the call before her wife could form a protest. She pressed the button for her intercom, “Hyuna, we’re going out to the ballgame. Baby Jea misses her baby daddy.”

“Yes, ma’am.” The detective grimaced at her tone of distaste, she’d have to power through though, it’s her job.

The ride was quick since the younger had learned all of the shortcuts from her previous visits. Dread filled Hyuna, she’d have to watch the woman who had betrayed her get along with the woman she despised.

“Hyuna, do I look okay?” Jea turned to face the detective when the car was parked.

The younger didn’t even bother looking, “You’re already married, no need to impress her.”

Jea pouted, letting out a soft whimper. Hyuna let out an exaggerated sigh. “If you dressed in rags she would still be head over heels in love with you, okay?”

“Why are there so few people here?” The older looked around them at the vacant parking lot, at least she was able to look out for her wife’s car.

“The game doesn’t start for another hour or so.” Hyuna exited the car and walked to the other side to open her boss’ door, closing it once she stepped out. A familiar, sleek, black car parked in front of theirs, Hyuna’s hand went immediately inside her jacket for her pistol, ready to draw it.

“Daddy!” Jea screamed as she ran at the car, bouncing as she waited for her wife to exit the car. When she finally exited, the pregnant woman’s breath caught in . It was the first time she’d seen the woman in casual clothing, she was always in business attire or no clothing, never anything casual. A hand in front of her face followed by an amused grin brought her out of her not so innocent thoughts.

“Are you sure there’s a game today? There’s no one here.” Narsha crossed her arms over her chest, looking around at the empty parking lot.

“We uh we’re early,” Jea took hold of Narsha’s hand dragging her towards the entrance while Hyuna followed behind, “Wanna go meet my friends?”

Narsha couldn’t form a response, if she fell she was certain her wife would still be dragging her towards the ticketing booth.

Once there, the man instantly recognized the youngest in the trio. “Detective Kim! You and your friends can go right on ahead, do you want me to inform Ms. Heo that you’re here?”

“No that’s not necessary Mr. Lee, thank you.” Hyuna hid her grimace well, keeping up her polite demeanor while the married pair continued onwards toward the field.

Hyuna stayed behind as she watched Jea and Narsha step onto the field from afar, surprised that security hadn’t tried to stop them. All she wanted was for Gayoon not to notice her. “Hyuna?”

She would not be getting any relief; she turned to face the older, a cold glare settled onto her features. “What part did I not make clear? I hate you so just leave me alone!”

Hyuna turned away from Gayoon so she couldn’t see her tears as she strode away to find her boss. Off in the distance she could see the woman gripping tightly to the doctor’s arm, dragging her towards two of the players stretching together.

“JiJi! JoJo!" Narsha’s nose scrunched in confusion, never thinking she’d hear those words come from her wife’s mouth.

Kahi and Miryo raised their heads to look in the direction of the voice that called names they hadn’t heard in a long time. When they saw the source, they leapt to their feet and ran towards the woman both shouting: “JeJe!!!”

Narsha stood a few feet in front of her wife, fearful of the two athletes tackling her pregnant wife to the ground. The two stopped just short in front of her, confused as to who she was. Jea stepped around the doctor, taking her hand into her own. “Jiyoung, Mihye, this is my wife and baby daddy: Doctor Park Narsha.”

“Have we met before?” Kahi asked, narrowing her eyes at the shorter woman.

The doctor paled, “N-no we haven’t.”

“Wait wait wait. We saw you like two months ago and you managed to get pregnant and married in that small window of time?” Miryo rested her hand on Kahi’s shoulder to support her while she tried comprehending the situation. Kahi couldn’t shake the familiarity of the doctor, she looked a lot like someone they went to high school with.

“It’s a long story that I would be more than happy to share over celebratory dinner?” The two nodded eagerly at the offer of food, “So Jiyoung, how is Jungah and little Bekah?”

“They are sweet angels, the apples of my eyes, everything I could ever wish for.” Kahi gritted out as she looked over the married couple’s shoulders, seeing her own wife and child quickly approaching, a glare pointed in her direction.

“They’re behind us aren’t they?” Kahi nodded furiously, a smile formed on Jea’s lips as a hand landed on her shoulder.

She looked over and was met with the infamous eye smile of one Park Jungah and a little toddler Bekah on one side of the woman, her thumb in . Jungah’s eyes landed on Narsha, a similar reaction to the familiar face. “Hyojin? Park Hyojin is that you? I haven’t seen you since you graduated ten years ago.”

“Y-you have me confused with someone else, my name is Narsha.” The doctor furiously denied, not really wanting to have that conversation with her wife who wore a blank, pensive face.

“Hey slackers! We have a game remember!” The coach yelled at his two oldest players who shooed the four away.

Jungah led them back to her former seat, Hyuna joining them along the way. Once seated, Jungah repositioned Bekah to be sitting in her lap. She faced Narsha, extending her hand over Jea. “I’m sorry for the mistaken identity, I’m Park Jungah, Jiyoung’s wife and this is little Park Bekah.”

Bekah made a half-wave in Narsha’s direction, too absorbed in what her father was doing on the field. Narsha took the hand, smiling at the child before introducing herself. “It’s alright, I’m Doctor Park Narsha, Jea’s wife and baby Jea’s daddy.”

“Kim Hyojin!” Jungah looked scandalized, “when were you planning on telling me?!”

“At dinner tonight with you, Jiyoung and Mihye.”Jea responded quickly, hand holding onto Narsha’s with a death grip.

The doctor pressed her lips against Jea’s ear, whispering, “We’ll talk about it when we get home. For now, let’s just enjoy our time together.”

Jea nodded and the time went by smoothly. Making small talk with Jungah as they all watched the game intently as the score stayed close. Hyuna couldn’t help but worry for Gayoon, she was playing horribly and the detective knew it was her fault.

The game was tied in extra innings, Gayoon had somehow made it on base, positioned on second base. Sohyun was up to bat with Jiyoon on deck. Sohyun had been given the order to make contact no matter what. The youngest did as she was told, managing to hit the ball between the second baseman and the right fielder.

Gayoon was off, her third base coach jumping enthusiastically as he sent her home. Jiyoon was standing in view behind the catcher, giving her the dive by signal. Something in her just didn’t register the sign, her head diving straight towards home plate where the catcher was ready and positioned to tag her out.

The next thing Gayoon knew was that her helmet was gone and she was rolling on the dirt, she couldn’t feel a thing other than her head pulsing. Her hand reached to touch the source of the pain, aggravating it further, she pulled back and saw red.

Hyuna was out of her seat the second Gayoon started rolling, sprinting towards the fence through the crowd. She quickly climbed over the metal barrier, landing poorly on her knees before continuing to her fiancée. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Jiyoon approaching, a raised finger stopped the elder’s motion.

The detective sunk to her knees next to the injured woman, wanting to hold her in her arms but afraid of a neck injury, settling on gripping her hand tightly. “Heo Gayoon I’m so sorry, this is all my fault, I didn’t mean it just—please don’t die! I love you so much, please don’t leave me!”

Tears streamed down Hyuna’s cheeks, landing on Gayoon’s face along with raindrops that had been threatening to fall all day, only deciding now was the time to let loose. The athlete could hardly turn her head, too much pain, but she managed to raise her held hand to caress the younger’s tear drenched cheek. Rather than say anything, she smiled at the detective before her eyes slowly drifted closed.

Hyuna’s hand immediately shot to the woman’s neck, crying out in relief that there was still a pulse. Jiyoon and everyone else believed the cry to be one of agony, the guilt on her conscience was overpowering. She knew this whole situation was her fault, Gayoon was dead or dying because of her lies.

The paramedics arrived, putting Gayoon’s neck into a brace and transferring her to a gurney, taking her into the ambulance, Hyuna followed them into the van, able to get through because she was family. Jiyoon ran up to the ambulance before the doors could close, jumping in at the last minute.

“You don’t belong in here filth.” Hyuna spat through her tears, all three’s clothing was damp from the rain.

“I know, but there’s something you need to know. She never cheated on you, it was all a lie. I drugged her and staged it to look like we had slept together, nothing happened. This is my fault and I’m prepared to take full responsibility.” Jiyoon explained as calmly as she could, it only worsened Hyuna’s sobbing, “She loves you too much to do that to you, knowing what she knows about your parents.”

Hyuna’s head was downcast, her eyes dark. “If she dies I’m arresting you for murder.”
