Smile, YiXing! The cold humid breeze was heavy in the air. Its chilliness was caressing Jieun’s face, having been notice of her reaction; Yiixng asked if she was alright. “I’m fine, just a bit cold,” she answered back. Without anymore words, Yixing stood up, and put the grey coat he had on around his girlfriend. Moved by his action, Jieun glanced up at him and beamed, “Thanks.”
The couple was having dinner on the Kris’ apartment building’s rooftop. Though it didn’t look special for some people, it was opposite for the two of them, since the place was where they had celebrated their first month anniversary. And for their friends, they should have their last date on this special place before Yixing leaves for Korea.
After finishing their scrumptious dinner that was made by Kris and Tao, Jieun unconsciously stared marveling at the view. Just like last time they were there, the lights played beautifully at night. Jieun was silently watching everything that she became unaware of the man that was more amazed by her beauty.
Yixing had mixed feelings, as he stared at his girlfriend lovingly. He was happy, thinking that they’ve survived another month together. That after all they’ve been through they’re back in this special place, celebrating another month of their relationship. But his happiness was muddled with sadness as Yixing thought that by tomorrow morning, it might took them a long time to have a proper date again. It breaks it hearts how by tomorrow morning he’d miles away from her, unknown when to see her again.
“Jieun,” he whispered softly, making the woman looked back at him in wonder. Yixing had a lot of things to say. How he was sorry that he was going away, how he was going to miss her from every moment and every minute of the day, how he will never ever forget her, how he was going to make up for all the dates they’ll miss, and how he wish she’ll never forget her until the day they’ll see each other again. But the man could only squint his eyes and mustered up a smile, and said, “I love you.” Though it didn’t exactly sounded like the words he planned, for him it became enough.
Jieun’s lips curved up, and reached out her hand to her partner. Caressing his hand with her thumb, she replied, “Reach out for your dreams okay? And if you’ll miss me, always remember, I’ll always be inside your heart Yixing.”
Yixing held her hand tightly, and he bravely controlled his tears, “I know, but I wish I could hold your hand, and runaway to Korea with you.” He looked up expectantly, like a child with such naivety as he pondered on the thought of him and her in Korea together. “It would be amazing.”
Jieun giggled, “Of course.”
Then unexpectedly, Yixing stood up, and offered his hand to help her do the same. Curiously, she followed, locking her eyes with his. He wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder. “I’m sorry Jieun,” he murmured as Jieun hugged him back. “I’m sorry for all the dates I’ll miss, for the monthsaries I won’t be here and for the anniversaries too. I’m sorry for the times when you’ll need someone to be with, and I won’t be here. I’m sorry for leaving you so early like this,” by the time he finished his sentence, Yixing couldn’t help his tears anymore, and in no time, he was hugging her tightly as he cried in her arms.
“I’m sorry for the times I won’t be with you too,” Jieun said, moved by his words. “For those times when you need someone to lean on, to talk to, to be with, I’m sorry Yixing.”
“I’m going to miss you terribly,” he said, managing to say it in between breaths.
“I’m going to miss you too Yixing,” Jieun replied, patting his back. “Have fun in Korea.” Then she leaned back, his teary eyes staring at his red ones, “I love you Yixing,” he said wiping his tears with her thumb. “Always, remember that.”
Panting as he laid awake, he stared at the ceiling. After the interview he had, Yixing always recalled his past. That one specific memory always came into mind, and like any other night, he was thinking about it again. And like always, Yixing wondered what went wrong. Did he read it wrong? Did he miss the look in her eyes when she’s telling them that she wa
