The cold breezed caressed his cheeks as he pulled his red knitted scarf up into his face. He let out a puff, and saw the wisp of his breath disappear in mid-air. Though it wasn’t chilly for some people, Luhan was different; he was too sensitive, that if it wasn’t for his emotions that eating him, he could’ve been holed up inside his apartment doing God-knows-what.
Just like the rest of the students, burden was taken off his shoulders as soon as his exam has ended, but then again, his burden has just started. With his father disagreeing about the program, and his less than okay relationship with Jieun, things weren’t just going well for him.
And just like old times, he grabbed his coat, and took the liberty of giving himself one of his nocturnal walks. It’s always been one of his favorite habits. For him taking a walk outside his neighborhood relaxes his mind, and the night just holds so much beauty, he’d get lost under the twinkling lights.
His dug his clutched fingers deeper into his coat’s pocket, finding some warmth. He wandered around the street, and found himself in front of a familiar building.
“Is he even home?” He asked himself, contemplating whether to call the person or not. “Hmm, I’ll just barge in like always,” he muttered as he took five steps up and towards the elevator. Arriving on his floor, he knocked on the door thrice, before hearing the person say, “YAH! Am I’m coming Yixing! No need to rush!”
Yixing? Did they have plans? He thought of, but before his mind could even process, the door opened, and Kris eyes grew wide at the sight of his friend. “What are you doing here?!” He cried.
“Hello to you too Kris,” he said wryly as he pushed the door wide open and stride to his living room. Just like him, Kris leaves away from his family, since his parents have migrated to Canada.
“Luhan!” A familiar voice yelled eagerly, and the next thing he knew, he was being hugged by Fei. She left him a kiss on the cheeks, before looking at her.
“At least someone’s happy to see him,” Luhan pouted back at Kris, who’s arching his eyebrows at the scene.
“Tch. Hey are you two dating?” He asked, taking note of Fei’s arm that was hitched on his friend’s elbow, while the other’s hand was placed on her waist. If he didn’t know well of their best friend relationship, he would’ve expected they were together.
The two was struck at his sudden question that, after a moment of silence, they chortled. “No,” Fei said barely able to answer her friend. “We’re not dating.”
“Really?” He asked dubiously.
“Yes dude,” Luhan answered. “This girl here,” he said as he locked her head on his armpit. “…Is just a little touchy.”
“Okay, before careful though, people might misinterpret your closeness,” Kris said.
“People like you?” Luhan laughed. Even without voicing it out, Kris’ feelings for Fei was transparent. But Kris’ haven’t confessed yet, since Fei had to go back to the States next month, and having a relationship will only complicate things.
His answer earned him a smack in the head, while Fei only watched the two squabbled about nonsense stuff. Pushing Luhan’s hand, she walked back to the kitchen leaving them. “YAH! What the hell!” Kris yelped angrily at his friend, who started laughing at him.
“What?!” He snickered. “It’s obvious anyways. You’re head over heels for her Yifan!” He said, calling him by his Chinese name.
“Tch. Whatever,” he glared, saving his energy to even argue with his friend.
“What are you doing anyways?” Luhan asked. “And why are you dressed like that… OH GOD! I never th
