Moments from Eye Contact Cam - North American Tour

The Life of the Sixth Member

The moment the Eye Contact Cam came back, fans were all over it. It's been a while since the last season aired and with the preparation for the latest comeback, Red Velvet had been having less schedule. So, when the first episode was posted fans were really excited and you were really excited to see their reactions.

The first appearance you made was at the beginning of the video when Yeri was explaining her concerns about speaking English at the airport lounge. After she was done, you approached her and she turned her head slightly, looking up at you.

"Don't listen to her, everyone," you stood behind her, looking at the camera in her hands prompting Yeri to do the same. "You'll understand her just fine," you ended the sentence with a wink.

Yeri had been trying to improve her English so she'd asked you to speak to her in English from time to time, an attempt to make her comfortable with the language. For this tour, she had told you how she wanted to speak more in English and wanted the fans to actually understand what she was saying and vice versa so she's been working hard on her pronunciation and understanding in between schedules. You also knew of her worries even though she tried to not show it so you'd try to comfort her the way she liked it.

"Are you sure, Unnie? I don't think I've practised enough though," she pouted, a sad look in her eyes.

You gave her a warm smile, wrapping your arms around her prompting her to lean back to your chest. Yeri leaned her head back slightly to look at you in the eyes, hope evident in her expression. She knew that smile.  "Have I ever lied to you, Yerim-ah?"

Hearing the reply she grinned, opening to reply before a man near the both of you sneezed, causing the both of you to look at each other and giggle.

Even though the conversation stopped there, both of you didn't need words to understand the other. With that being said, she appreciated your confidence in her and it encouraged her to continue with her plan of speaking English.

Next was a scene from the dressing room after the LA concert. Joy was the one filming, sitting on the couch with Irene beside her. You were in front of the couch, sitting on the ground in front of Irene. As Joy began talking, she panned the camera towards Irene as she was taking a bite out of her banana, making her laugh.

"Sooyoung-unnie!" You looked up towards Irene as she was laughing, then playfully scooting closer towards Joy instead. "Please don't make her laugh, I don't want banana bits on my head."

Joy laughed and leaned down to give you a back hug, having the camera in front of you to capture both of you instead. You smiled and patted her hand while Irene's laughter stopped, a fierce glare given in your direction.

You could actually feel the glare that made you turn towards her just to smile cheekily, blowing her a kiss and the camera captured her denying your love. Knowing this would lead to something else, Joy moved back on the couch and had the camera towards her again as she was explaining about the concert while you pouted up at Irene.

"Did you just throw my love away, Unnie?"

Irene continued to eat her banana, giving you the silent treatment even though she was cooing inwardly. Your pout was seriously something else.

She knew you were joking but it was fun teasing you back, knowing you would try everything to make her not be "mad" at you again.

Afraid she was actually mad, you stopped your teasings. You'd felt her wrath once and you never want to be the end of her anger ever again.

No one knows how scary Irene could be until they've seen her angry.

"Unnie~" You whined, standing up and sitting on the couch in the middle of her and Joy, clinging onto her.

Before she could say anything, Joy got ahead of her. "Hey, please be quiet I'm filming here!"

You turned towards her, pouting even more. "But Unnie-" Joy cut you off. "Sh! No buts. Whine after I film." That made Irene laugh out loud and you pout, prompting Irene to pinch your cheek.

Well, at least she wasn't "mad" anymore.

It was Seulgi's birthday and the rest of the members were planning to give her a surprise birthday cake. As Wendy and Yeri stayed inside the room to occupy her, Irene, Joy and you were outside preparing the cake.

"Wah, this cake looks so good," you commented as Irene was taking the cake out of the box.

Irene smirked, "Of course, I ordered it."

Joy looked at her in disbelief, "Did you really?"

Manager-unnie piped in behind Irene, slapping her shoulder lightly. "No, I did."

Irene glared up at her playfully. "Hey, I told you which cake to get!"

You could only shake your head, amused by the childish act your leader was putting up. "It's okay, Unnie. I still love you."

Irene blushed as she mumbled her reply. "You better," before focusing back on the cake to put the candles on.

Joy scoffed, looking at the child leader incredulously. "What the-"

"Language," Irene gave her a warning glare, Joy shutting up but the look on her face hadn't changed. You giggled before nudging Joy, giving her the look of 'just let it go' to which she complied to with a sigh.

After everything had been set up, you all stood up to enter the room and Joy prepared the background song.

"Happy birthday, Seulgi!" You all entered while singing your hearts out, Seulgi looking surprised. A wide grin took over her face as she stood up, dancing in her spot.

"Thank you, everyone! Thank you."

Seulgi closed her eyes to make her wish and as opened to blow out the candles, you shouted "You're old now, Unnie!" making the people in the room laugh and Seulgi to shout a loud "YAH!"

You and Wendy were walking towards the concert venue in Chicago, looking up at all of its glory.

"Wow, this is beautiful," you couldn't help but murmur, looking mesmerised at all the twinkling lights surrounding the billboards on the front of the building.

Wendy agreed, nodding. As you walked past one of the posters, it changed and Wendy was so surprised she stopped, making all of you stop with her.

"Did the poster just change?"

You nodded, "Yeah, it's showing different acts that would play in the venue, I think."

Wendy gasped, looking excited. "Let's see if it would change to one of ours! We're playing tomorrow night, we should be here right?" She asked rhetorically, already pointing the camera towards the ever-changing digital poster.

She waited with bated breath whilst all of you (you, manager-unnie, and security-oppa) looked at each other and laughed silently. Wendy was so innocent in so many ways and you couldn't help but look at your favourite unnie with adoration clear on your face, the camera picking it up. The staff later edited that with the caption saying you were giving her heart eyes which clearly wasn't wrong.

After a while of many posters changing and none of them showing Red Velvet, you got tired of the cold. "Come on, Unnie. I'm hungry and it's cold, you shouldn't be out in this weather for too long."

She had just gotten better after being sick for days so you didn't want her to get sick again. You hated seeing her so weak and unenergised.

She heaved a sigh. "Well, it's too bad they didn't show our poster but yea, we're playing tomorrow night," Wendy told the camera, finally walking again and you wrapped your arm around her shoulders in an attempt to keep her from the cold.

Knowing the truth, you couldn't help but let out a laugh and Wendy looked up at you, looking at you suspiciously. "Yah, why are you laughing?"

Your giggles continued before you were able to give her a reply. "You'll see, Unnie. Just watch when this episode aired."

As Wendy watched the final cut of the video, she shook her head in disbelief. You knew where the "poster" actually was and didn't tell her just for the fun of it.

When you first moved to Korea, one of the first things you missed was western food. Being born in Australia you were familiar with that type of food and when you moved to Korea, you couldn't exactly find a place that sold Western food with the right taste. So, when you got to America you vowed to eat as much food as allowed, wanting to fulfil your cravings before you had to go back to Korea.

"Hello, everyone," you greeted the camera in the restaurant, Irene and Wendy on either side of you doing their own things. "As you might know, Wendy-unnie and I didn't exactly grow up in Korea and we were used to Western food so, during our time in Korea, we missed it. Right Unnie?"

Wendy looked up from her phone and turned towards you, nodding. You scooted closer to her so you could fit both of you in the frame.

You were about to continue but were cut off when Irene could be heard scoffing playfully in the back, making you turn towards her direction. "Don't I know it," she muttered and you shushed her, turning back towards the camera.

"So, we want to eat western food and we're here for breakfast." You turned the camera around to show parts of the restaurant. "Plus, I want to introduce Irene-unnie to some of my favourite food so our diet today is western food," you continued, a determined look on your face as you finished.

"Wait, what?" Wendy snapped her head towards you, her eyes wide. Were you seriously wanting to eat western food all day?

You merely raised an eyebrow, turning to look at her. "Yes, I want to introduce Hyun-unnie to western breakfast, lunch, and dinner."

With that, Irene laughed freely, slapping you on the shoulder. "Yah, I'll gain much weight if we do that."

You turned the camera towards her as you playfully glared at her, capturing her amused expression. "We're only here for a bit, Unnie. Gotta make the most of it."

Irene just giggled, nodding along to your plan. If that made you happy then she'd do it. "Fine, tell me what to order then."

You then abandoned the camera to show her the menu, treating this as if you were determining a setlist for a concert. Wendy laughed before picking the camera up with the intent of finishing this section for you.

"As you can see, our dear Eli is focused on the food now so she'll see you later. Bye~" She waved at the camera and you snapped your head up wide-eyed, reaching for it.

"Hey-"

In the end, the staff had written that you had successfully fulfilled your mission, making Irene slightly addicted to vanilla milkshake. You had claimed to take responsibility for it, looking for recipes on how to make a healthy vanilla milkshake as per Irene's request.

At first I wrote this for me but I'm definitely ecstatic because other people find it fun too. I hope this story, even though I can't upload as often as I used to, can still provide you with the same feeling after a long day. I really appreciate all of you beyond words can explain ♥️

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the last chapter! To reply to a comment, I guess we're seeing a lot of her vulnerable side now, huh? That's because Eli's starting to accept them, not pushing her troubles away and asking her members for help when she knows she can :)

Hi, everyone! I'm sorry for being so absent these past few months or even a year.
