Slow

The Life of the Sixth Member

You're doing nothing. You have no schedule, no workout, no going out plans, it was... peaceful. Though everything seemed to have been all go go go for a while so this break was weird but welcomed. You woke up this morning wondering how out of character it was to not have to set an alarm and be up at an ungodly hour, even awake before the sun was. You had the most peaceful sleep in a long while and you were grateful for the opportunity. It was starting to become eerily quiet so you got up and went outside to the kitchen to see everything so still.

You washed your face and brushed your teeth before putting on an apron to make breakfast for the rest of the members. It's been a while since you've been able to do so and you've missed it a lot so you made up your mind to make your signature breakfast, some waffles and pancakes with maple syrup courtesy of Mama Son and some whipped cream with fresh fruits the food aunty had picked up for the group.

You tried to be as quiet as possible because you knew everyone was still sleeping, as no sounds were heard throughout the dorm as of yet. After you were finished, you set everything on the table before looking at the clock to see that it was around 6.30 in the morning and you thought it would be nice to eat breakfast with your soulmate, so you took off your apron and set off to the leader's room located right next to yours. Irene didn't sleep with you last night because she had been out pretty late and didn't want to disturb your much-needed rest.

You didn't bother knocking on the door before entering her room quietly, seeing her sleeping figure all cuddled up on her bed. You smiled as you spotted the top of her head peeking out under the comfortable duvet she had wrapped around her small body.

You hated waking her up but you really wanted to be with her so you walked quietly to her bed before laying down behind her, wrapping your left arm around her in a back hug. You snuggled your face closer to the back of her head and she started to wake up due to the extra warmth.

You felt her startle before her hand reached out to hold yours, finding the familiar hold around her. "El?" she mumbled sleepily as she turned around to face you.

Her bare face greeted you and you smiled at the sight. Irene's breathtaking, especially in the morning, where she was all rested up and barefaced. The arm that was around her moved to her cheek, causing her to snuggle closer to the touch.

"Good morning, my sunshine," the leader could hear the smile in your voice, "is it a good time to wake you up yet?" Even though you wanted to be in her presence, you didn't want to push her into spending time with you so early in the morning.

The small but strong leader cuddled closer to your body instead, head on the crook of your neck and arms around your back in a warm, familiar embrace. You closed your eyes in bliss as you moved your arm to wrap around her shoulders.

"What time is it?"

You replied softly. "Around 6.30. I woke around 6 and didn't want it to be so silent, so I made breakfast for everyone and came here."

Irene groaned softly as she tightened her hold around you. "Have you eaten?"

"I don't want to be alone." Irene could feel you shaking your head slightly and she blearily opened her eyes to be able to see you. She was surprised at how honest and fragile you were being with your feelings. You rarely voiced your loneliness to the members, but maybe how busy you've been and how you rarely could interact with the members outside of schedules caused you to be vulnerable. Although unexpected, she welcomed the change even more.

You saw how the smile she reserved only for you formed on her lips and the slight tightness you felt on your chest disappeared completely. "Then don't. Come on, let's have breakfast together."

Irene closed her eyes as you leaned closer to put a soft kiss on her forehead in greeting, sighing in bliss as she hadn't been able to feel that affection lately. "Good morning, Unnie."

"Good morning, sweetheart. Let's have breakfast then spend the day together, would you like that?" She saw how your smile widened into that signature grin and giggled in response at the rapid nods you were making.

"Come on, we can talk more during breakfast. I can smell the waffles and pancakes now and I'm starving."

After breakfast with the leader and the rest of the members that are still living in the dorm, the both of you decided to go into town to visit some stationary shops that you know are popular for their cute stuff, some bookstores, and eventually make your way to the Han River to have a picnic. It's been a while since you can have a date with your soulmate, so you decided to make the best out of today.

"Unnie, can we get matching phone cases this time around? It's been a while since we have that," you pleaded with your guardian as you held one that piqued your interest at one of the shops, holding it up for her to see with hopeful eyes.

Irene immediately nodded, eyes forming half a circle to show that she was smiling underneath her mask. You were both armed with the usual disguise every time you go out without your managers, like hats and masks, so you had to lean down a little or she had to look up for you both to see eye-to-eye. It's quite a comical sight so from time to time you would giggle to yourself and vice versa.

"Yes!" You jumped a little in excitement and Irene looked at you with widened eyes, startled.

"Are you this excited to get a couple item with me?" she couldn't help but wonder and she could just imagine the slight pout that was forming underneath your mask.

You nodded, looking at her straight in the eyes. "Well, yes. It's been a while since we've been on a date together and I want to remember the moment. Plus, you promised to get a matching Casetify case with me but you coupled with Wan-unnie's instead!" you finally could express your slight disappointment and Irene knew right then and there you were being truthful instead of just teasing her.

"I'm sorry," Irene started as she came closer to you, eyes apologetic and filled with remorse, "it honestly slipped my mind that you wanted to get a matching colour. I didn't think when I got the green one, I thought it would be a nice change since all my stuff is purple. I'm really sorry," Joohyun sounded so sincerely apologetic that you couldn't help but to wrap your free arm around her in an attempt to console her.

"You're forgiven, Unnie, I'm sorry. I don't know why I got so disappointed over such a little thing," you sighed before continuing, "it's okay."

Irene shook her head in disagreement. "No, no. Your feelings are valid, El, and you have the right to be disappointed. I said something and did the exact opposite and I'm sorry for that," Irene looked at you with eyes filled with determination, "can I make it up to you?"

You finally gave her a fond smile though she could only see your eyes turning into crescents. You appreciated her validating your feelings no matter how silly you thought it was. "Of course, Unnie. I already forgive you though, so you don't have to make anything up to me."

"I want to," Irene said with finality and you sighed in fond exasperation, knowing there's nothing that could deter her.

"Let me start by paying for our cases. Do you think this fits us best?" Irene moved to look towards the cases displayed while taking the one from your hand to compare and you could only stare at her with love and admiration. You're lucky to have someone like your Joohyun-unnie and you couldn't be more grateful to have her in your life, hopefully till the end of time.

You ended the date with a picnic by the Han River, an assortment of both of your favourite food laid out in front of you, including tteokbokki and fried chicken for you. Irene was adamant about getting that favourite food of yours even though she doesn't eat it, even insisting to get the one by your favourite brand as well.

"Are you sure you're okay with the smell, Unnie?" you asked, eyebrows furrowed in worry as you looked at all the food already laid out in front of you, including the chicken that you put next to you so the leader would be the farthest one from it. You didn't want to make the leader feel uncomfortable by the look or smell of your favourite yangnyeom chicken since you know the smell can be a little much.

Irene looked at you in amusement though there's admiration written all over her face at your consideration. "Yes, Eli-ah, I'll be fine. I can't even smell it since we're in an open space like this," she reasoned as she patted your cheek softly, "I'll be okay. Please enjoy your food?"

You eventually relaxed at her gaze and nodded in agreement, giving her that special smile of yours. "Yes, my sunshine," Irene had decided the nickname hits different when you said it in your native tongue, "let's eat!"

The day really ended with you having dinner later on with the members since they all came by for a movie night and you couldn't wish for a better slow day. You wouldn't have it any other way.

At first I wrote this for me but I'm definitely ecstatic because other people find it fun too. I hope this story, even though I can't upload as often as I used to, can still provide you with the same feeling after a long day. I really appreciate all of you beyond words can explain ♥️

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the last chapter! To reply to a comment, I guess we're seeing a lot of her vulnerable side now, huh? That's because Eli's starting to accept them, not pushing her troubles away and asking her members for help when she knows she can :)

Hi, everyone! I'm sorry for being so absent these past few months or even a year. I've been dealing with a lot and every time I open a new chapter to write, I always lose the creativity T_T I'm so sorry. Recently, I've just lost an uncle who loved me very much and I've been dealing with the loss. Thank you for always reaching out to me and waiting for a new chapter, I promise I will try to write soon. I also apologise for not replying to your comments, the website is not allowing me to do so I'm not sure why so I just write it here. I really appreciate all of you and I hope we can be here enjoying the stories I write for a long time. Thank you and I hope I'll see you soon ❤️
