It is kind of crazy how all of you have your birthdays so close to each other. You had celebrated Seulgi's and Wendy's birthdays during the tour in America and Canada, and so what's left were Yeri's, Irene's, and your birthdays. Yeri's birthday fell on March 5 which she had celebrated with Luvies and the members later that night. You had gone out for a nice dinner and had given her something that she's always wanted but never gotten herself: software to produce her music on the go. It was a little bit expensive for your taste but it was what she needed and seeing the delight on her face was enough. Her tight hug was also a nice bonus. 

The next was Irene's birthday. Now, you had known her for years and had always struggled to find her a good present because she never said she wanted or needed anything and every time you ask, she would also reply with "I don't need anything. What I have is enough". You are the type of person to give what people need or something that would help them in some ways, so hearing Irene's reply was hard. Around two or three weeks before her birthday, you found out that Yeri had ordered herself new, customised in-ear monitors with her and a ReVeluv's design on it which sparked your interest in it being Irene's possible birthday present. 

"Yerimmie, how long does it take for the in-ear you ordered to be finished?" you had asked the question so suddenly that Yeri was looking at you weirdly. 

"Hmm... about two or three weeks. Why? You want to get one too?" Yeri had that curious glint in her eyes and that expression when she's really curious about something. She mocked Wendy for not being able to hide her emotions but look who's talking. 

"Maybe, I've had mine for years I need new ones." You decided not to tell her just in case she couldn't keep her excitement and accidentally let Joohyun know about your plans. 

"Sure, I think you do. Are you gonna design it yourself?" 

You hadn't thought about it before. You're not the best drawer but you do have good eyes for design. "I think so, I haven't come up with the ideas yet though. Thanks for the info, Yerim-ah."

You quickly turned around and left the room to start on your design, leaving Yeri in slight confusion before she shrugged it off as you being your impulsive self. 

It was quite challenging because even though your group didn't have that many schedules, you guys were still busy so you had to design in-between schedules. Not to mention that you have to design it secretly so no one would notice, especially Irene, what you were planning. You had contacted the company that usually makes your in-ears in secret, in hopes that the fans wouldn't find out that you had ordered a new pair of in-ear monitors. They had the tendency to find out new things about you faster than your company could sometimes, it's crazy. You just hope this can stay a secret until Irene's birthday. 

"Hyun-unnie, you really don't want or need anything for your birthday? Not even a hug?" you desperately asked her a week before her birthday, hiding the smile threatening to come out with a pout. 

She cooed. "Aww, you are too cute, Eli-ah. No, I told you last time that I don't want or need anything for my birthday. I have everything already but I can never say no to your hugs so maybe you can just give me a hug on my birthday." She smiled, wrapping her arm around your shoulder and giving the side of your head a kiss.

"But still... I feel like that's not enough because you have done so much for us and for me personally, I don't know where I'd be without you," you told her sincerely, looking at her in the eyes to get the message across. 

You saw her eyes water slightly before she let out a laugh. "See? This is why I say I don't need anything because this is enough. What you say is enough and I just hope I have done enough for you all." 

You took her in your arms. "You have, Unnie," you hugged her tighter, "you have". 

You had planned to wake her up with cake and candles because you wanted it to be slightly more intimate compared to giving her a cake with the other members present. It's not because you don't want to share the moment with them, no, it's just that you and Joohyun have a special relationship that you don't have with anyone else so you want to have a special moment with her as well, even if it's just for a short while. So, the morning of her birthday, you had woken up much earlier than usual and prepared your presents, the cake, and the lit candles quietly before expertly juggling everything in your arms and going to her room. 

You opened the door quietly to find her sleeping figure underneath the blankets, sleeping soundly. You hate to wake her up but you hope she would like her surprise nonetheless. You put her presents on her bedside table before holding her cake with your left hand and putting your right hand on her shoulder, your thumb on it to wake her up. 

"Hyun-unnie, wake up." 

Thank God Irene is a light sleeper because just a few seconds after you woke her up, she had groaned before opening her eyes slowly, her eyes widening not long after. 

"Wha...?" 

You grinned, sitting on the edge of her bed. "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Joohyun-unnie. Happy birthday to you," you sang the whole song with your slightly husky morning voice and she grinned in happiness. 

She sat up slightly and continued to smile. "What is this?" 

You laughed softly. "It's your birthday cake, Unnie. Make a wish and blow the candles!" 

She giggled before closing her eyes and her expression became serious. After a few long seconds, she finally opened her eyes again and blew the candles. 

"Yay!" you cheered, making her laugh, "happy birthday, Unnie! I love you!" 

She cooed. "And I love you, Eli-ah! Thank you for making this day very special!" She then proceeded to hug you tightly but carefully, minding the cake you're still holding in your left hand. 

You hugged her as best as you could before pulling away, "Do you want to eat the cake now or do you want presents?" 

She tilted her head to the side in confusion, making you squeal internally because of how adorable she was. "Presents?" 

You grinned mischievously. "Yes, Unnie. Presents. Let me put the cake away and give you your presents."

After exchanging the cake for the presents, you turned back to her. "This is probably not much but I thought it was a good idea and I had made and designed them myself so I hope you like it." 

Irene gasped. "Eli-ah! I told you I didn't want anything!" 

You laughed in response. "I know but I still wanted to give you something and I promise you these would not go to waste," you fell silent for a bit, "well, I hope." 

She continued to look at you, not doing anything to open the presents in her hands. "What? Open one!" 

She then finally looked at the presents and opened one. Inside was a scrapbook you had made of the journey the two of you had throughout the years, with the members also being present in some of the sections. It represents your relationship and how much she means to you so you hoped she would find it touching and memorable. 

"Eli-ah... This is amazing... How did you find all of these photos?" She finally looked up and you could see tears in her eyes, threatening to fall. 

You smiled. "I kept all of our photos over the year for memories and I decided maybe it was time for me to share them with you." 

Irene continued to be amazed at the gift and you were amused at her reaction. "Why do you look so shocked, Unnie? You know I keep photos as memories, don't you?" 

She slowly nodded, diverting her attention away from the gift on her hand and to you instead. "I know... I just didn't know that they mean so much to you and you have so many of us together! Even the ones with only me... I just... I'm speechless I don't know what to say." 

You smiled. "Do you like it?" 

She nodded vigorously. "I love it." 

"Then it's enough for me," you smiled softly before nudging her to open the second present, "now open the second one."  

"Eli-ah... You're spoiling me." 

Her statement made you laugh. "Unnie, if this is me spoiling you then I'm not doing a good job. I'll do better next year, I promise," you eventually . 

She shook her head no. "What? No! I mean that you already give so much you don't need to give me more!" 

You smirked mischievously. "So you don't want the gift that I've worked so hard on?" 

Her eyes widened in fear. "I do!" she hugged the gift closer to her chest, "don't take it away!" 

You finally laughed out loud. "You are too cute, Unnie. I'm just teasing you." That made her pout adorably. 

You grinned. "Come on, open it." 

She put attention at the gift again, opening the wrapper with such care that made you impatient but considering it was her day, you let her do what she wanted. 

The familiar box was eventually seen and she looked up at you. "You got me new in-ear monitors?" 

You smiled and nodded, now becoming nervous. "Yeah, it's extra special though so I hope you'll like it." 

She proceeded to open the box slowly, coming face to face with the in-ears with your designs on them. "I put the colour purple on it because that's your favourite colour. I hope that's your favourite shade." 

You had asked to have them both coloured the same with one side having the word "Hyun" and the other one a drawing you had done of a sunflower, complete with the colours. 

"I want you to always remember that you are my Hyun and you are my sunshine..." you trailed off, "I had designed the sunflower myself so I tried to make it as best as I could. Sorry if it doesn't look too good." 

Because she was looking down at them, you couldn't see her expression clearly. When she looked up, however, you could clearly see the tears on her cheeks. 

You frowned, slightly panicking on the inside. "Unnie, why are crying? Do you not like the gift that much?" you leaned forward and tried to wipe away her tears with both hands, "it's okay, Unnie. I can give you something else that you like—" 

She suddenly leaned forward and took you in her arms, hugging you with all her might. You felt your shoulder dampened. "How can you think I don't like the gift? I love it. This is everything, Eli. This means so much to me I didn't know how to react. I love it." She continued to cry on your shoulder, you rubbing her back to try and comfort her. 

You hugged her tighter, sighing in relief. "I'm glad you love it, Unnie. I hope the design is not too much." 

You felt her shaking her head in denial. "No, no, of course not. I'm proud to be considered as your sunshine, and you are my Eli... Always." 

You smiled and closed your eyes in bliss. When she's happy, you're also happy. 

"Unnie, what did the members give you for your birthday?" 

The question finally popped up during her birthday celebration with Luvies. Irene had decided to celebrate it on the day right after celebrating with the members and the venue is bigger this time. Birthdays are usually celebrated in one of the studios within the company but this year you guys were the company's theatre and it was amazing. Yeri's birthday was first celebrated there and now it was Irene's turn. Your turn would be in April. 

Irene smiled before answering quietly, "Joy gave me a hug..." she trailed off. "Oh!" her voice suddenly became loud, "Wendy went inside her room to write me a letter and didn't come out for 30 minutes!" She laughed along with the fans. 

Irene didn't know whether to tell them about what you did but she eventually relented to the urge. "Eli woke me up with a birthday cake and her presents. She gave me a scrapbook filled with photos from all the years I've known her and new in-ear monitors with her design on them," she explained shyly which made the fans awed.

"Can you please post one of the photos on Instagram, Unnie?" another fan asked which prompted eager responses from the others. 

Irene let out a soft laugh. "I will." 

After the event, she opened the book to find one of her favourite photos. She ended up posting a photo of you and her during your birthday last year, where you had an arm around her and she was looking up at you with those big, doe eyes. The caption and drawing under it were what made it her favourite. 

'I love you, Unnie. You'll always be my Hyun and my sunshine' with a sunflower beside it.
