“Hye Shi, I like you.”

There was a brief moment of silence until the book that was creating a wall between the two was placed down. Eyes locked with one another and the young woman’s eyebrow rose up slightly.

“What was that Hak Yeon?” Hye Shi blinked at him for a second.

“I…I like…” N began and Hye Shi hummed for him to continue his sentence, “what you’ve done with your hair?”

Hye Shi narrowed her eyes and shook her head, “No, not that – what did you say just now?”

N gulped and knew that he shouldn’t be playing around with Hye Shi. He knew that she liked straightforward answers, but he was worried. “I like your eyes?” N nervously grinned.

“Hak Yeon – stop beating around the bush and complimenting me. What did you say?” Hye Shi snapped and placed the book that she had in her hands to the side of the table. “And this time, tell me the truth and the full truth.” She crossed her arms across her chest.

“I…I can’t say.” N confessed shyly.

“And why not?” Hye Shi raised an eyebrow.

“Because…” N’s cheeks turned a bright shade of red.

“That’s not a real answer Hak Yeon and you know it.” Hye Shi pointed a finger towards him.

“Because I’m afraid of ruining our friendship!” He blurted out and the young woman stared at him expressionless. N hung his head and pouted.

“Hak Yeon, whatever you’re about to say – I doubt it’ll ruin our friendship. No matter what happens, I won’t run away from you.” Hye Shi reassured.

“How do you know? I mean, this is possibly a life threatening moment here – I could die.” N whined while lying his head on the table.

“Now don’t be over dramatic, Cha Hak Yeon –” Hye Shi rolled her eyes.

N took a deep breath and knew that it was now or never.

“I like you, Hye Shi.”

“I like you very much – if I go a day without seeing you, I might go mad. I’m afraid of telling you that I like you because I’m scared that you’ll leave me behind. I don’t want that…” N confessed while hiding his head in his arms. He watched Hye Shi’s actions and saw that she was staring directly back at him.

“How long?” Hye Shi murmured, “How long have you liked me?”

“From the day that I met you.” N blushed.

“Well Hak Yeon…I don’t like you.” Hye Shi confessed.

“H…huh?” N was stunned.

“I’m sorry, I don’t like you.” Hye Shi shook her head.

“Y..you…don’t…heh. I knew it…” N’s expression fell. His heart cracked in half and there was nothing he could do. He felt a soft and warm hand on his. He looked like slightly and saw Hye Shi smile at him.

“I don’t like you, because…truthfully,” Hye Shi smiled shyly, “I love you, Cha Hak Yeon.”

“Hye Shi…” N was thrown off his feet. He was surprised at her sudden confession.

“That’s how you confess – don’t beat around the bush. This isn’t like dramas Hak Yeon.” Hye Shi laughs lightly and N nervously chuckles with a happy smile.
