Disclaimer I don’t own the ideas at the beginning. I got inspired by Clannad the anime so it is pretty similar if you watched the series. It changes in the middle and end, I needed a good beginning for this birthday present for Mika<3

I remember…

When we were little…

You wandered into my yard.

I remember what I asked you, “I’ve never seen you here before! I’m Mika!”

The older boy turned around and smiled brightly. “I’m Jong Hyun; I guess I wandered into your front yard while searching for a butterfly?” In his right hand was a butterfly net.

I giggled and smiled while getting up from the piano. I walked over to the door and opened up. Behind me was my mother. “Mika? Is this your friend? He is quite a handsome one too” Mother said while grinning. Jong Hyun’s cheeks flushed pink and couldn’t help but smile.

As the days go by Jong Hyun would come over and play with me. I was homeschooled so I am always at home. I would play the piano for him to hear only and he wanted to learn as well. I loved reading so I would read for him.

“The day before yesterday I saw a bunny. Yesterday I saw a deer. Today I saw you Jong Hyun…” I said while smiling at my first crush. Jong Hyun laid his head on my laptop as he took a nap. I brushed my fingers along the edges of his hair tips.

When the time for Jong Hyun to go home for supper. I walked him towards the gates of my house. “I’ll see you tomorrow?”

“Definitely for your birthday!” Jong Hyun cheered with a wide grin.

There was one problem and that is he never did come to the party of Mika. Jong Hyun never came to Mika’s birthday party so that caused distress for the young girl. Mika waited by the window for Jong Hyun. She played the piano and longed for Jong Hyun but he never came over to play anymore.

As Mika grew up she attended to public school, she was the smartest girl there was. She was number one; she had everything she ever wanted. She figured out that she had a fan-club which sort of freaked her out. She had parents, friends, and admirers but there was one thing that she could never have. And that is Jong Hyun.

“Hey Mika!” A loud voice called out from behind. The young girl walked until she halted at the voice. She turned around and locked eyes with the voice. It was Ki Bum Kim, better known as Key. Mika’s number one trustworthy best friend there is.

“Finally you stopped! Geez, I was calling you for the last couple of blocks! Where you…thinking of him?” Key asked while poking Mika’s cheek. Of course Mika told Key about the whole Jong Hyun business since Key was the only person she trusted the most. Other than her three friends, “MIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKA,” a loud childish voice called out while tackling the poor girl down.

Onew was the one who attacked her and he suddenly sang to the girl. “Good morning!~”

“Good morning Onew,” Mika greeted while smiling. Tae Min helped the young girl up and brushed the dirt off of her shoulders.

“Morning Mika, have you eaten breakfast yet?” Tae Min asked in a well-mannered tone. Mika smiled and nodded. “Yes I have Tae Min, thank you for asking” Mika grinned at him. Suddenly Mika was snatched away from Tae Min. Onew held Mika closely to him.

“Mika belongs to me~ I got my eyes on you,” Onew stated while pouting cutely.

“I don’t think I see your name on Mika, Onew, so I have my every right to do this-” Min Ho began while stealing Mika and running off with her. Key and Tae Min rushed after Min Ho and Mika. Leaving Onew stunned and baffled.

“WHAT THE HECK?! MIN HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Onew shouted so loudly that it echoed throughout the whole school.

The group of friends slowly laughed and walked to class. Onew finally caught up and began whining to everyone. Mika laughed and looked over at the window as she walked. It was familiar figure from the childhood. Mika blinked and looked carefully to see that it was just like him. Jong Hyun was staring at Mika in the eyes as well.

“Hey Mika?” Min Ho began while shaking her shoulder. Mika looked over at Min Ho for a second then looked back at Jong Hyun. Mika shook her head and saw that Jong Hyun had disappeared. “Mika what are you staring at?” Min Ho asked while raising an eyebrow. Key looked at the younger girl and wondered about something.

“I-I thought I…” Mika stuttered out but then shook her head. She has to be imagining things. It couldn’t be him right?

“Let’s get to class,” Mika changed her sentence and grinned at her four friends. They all stared at her and nodded as well. The five went to English class just in time. They sat in their usual corner and chatted while waiting for the rest of the students and teacher to enter.

While the boys talked, Mika was staring outside. Suddenly Jong Hyun popped out of nowhere once again. Mika rubbed her eyes to see if they were deceiving her once again but Jong Hyun hasn’t disappeared just yet. Instead he was pointing at her and motioning her to come outside.

“Mika?” Tae Min began but was ignored. Mika got up and ran outside in a flash. When the boys were about to leave, Key raised a hand.

“Wait, let her go,” Key stated while staring at Jong Hyun. Yes, for some reason Key could see Jong Hyun. Jong Hyun was staring at Key for a second and then disappeared again.

“Why?” Onew asked while Key looked over at his friends. They were confused at what was happening.

“It’s important…so let her go,” Key murmured while the others all shrugged.

The young girl ran around the whole school campus and couldn’t find her first lover anywhere. She turned around and saw his figure walking at the end of the hallway.

“Jong Hyun!” Mika shouted out but only got to be ignored. She ran down the hallway and followed him to the roof top. Jong Hyun began running up the stairs.

“W-wait!” Mika screamed out while following behind slowly. Jong Hyun then pushed open the door at the top. Mika went through the door as well and just stood there. Shocked was written all over her face. Jong Hyun stood there with a birthday cake in his hand. He stood beside the table with a huge teddy bear plush.

“J-jong Hyun…” Mika began while feeling tears slowly forming around her eyes.

“Mika…” Jong Hyun whispered while walking over to her with the cake.

“W-what is this all about?” Mika asked while staring at him.

“I missed your birthday many years ago. To make it up to you, I decided to throw this party for you,” Jong Hyun stated while holding the cake in front of her.

“But why did you leave? Why didn’t you come to my birthday party back then?” Mika asked while staring at the boy in front of her with tear filled eyes.

“Dad got a job offer in Busan so we had to move. I wanted to stay here in Seoul with my first love but couldn’t. So I waited until dad got transferred back here,” Jong Hyun said while smiling.

“F-first love?” Mika choked out while blushing deeply.

“Yes, Mika did you know that I love you?” Mika blinked and felt her heart raced.

“R-really?” Mika asked while Jong Hyun nodded.

“Now happy birthday Mika,” Jong Hyun said while smiling at her.

“Thank you Jong Hyun,” Mika thanked the older boy while he smiled. He dabbed his pinky into the icing and dabbed Mika’s lip. Mika’s eyes widen at the sudden action. Slowly without hesitating Jong Hyun leaned in and kissed her lips. Mika could feel her heart thumping loudly. Slowly she kissed the boy back sweetly. The two broke away from the sweet kiss. Jong Hyun rested his forehead on Mika’s.

“Love you,” The two said in sync.
