Presents were being passed out. Cards were being handed, face to face. Girls handing cards out while guys either accepted or just left them in the trash cans; hearts were being combined or just ripped up in half. The cold weather was all around. Christmas was here and everyone was having fun. Being together and such but a certain girl was left in the back.

Mi Young was always watching from a far. No she wasn’t a loner, she just happened to be in the far back. She was always watching from a far. Sure she had her fun but she was waiting for a certain boy to share the holiday season with. But that’s never going to happen because the guy that she was waiting for had a girlfriend.

Sadly the guy that she was swooning over was the most popular boy there was, Jong Hyun. He was going out with Se Kyung.  She knew she would never have a chance with such a guy like Jong Hyun. Jong Hyun was sweet, handsome, athletic, and oh-so-fine. He was every girl’s dream date but sadly he was with Se Kyung, beautiful, perfect and Head of the Cheer Leader squad.

Mi Young sighed heavily while turning over to her friends. Her friends were too busy making a list of activities to do at home, since they always hang out on Christmas Eve. Hye Shi, one of her friends that always had a bright personality as for the other girl that was always so shy, Tae Jung.

“I say we watch scary movies all night long,” Hye Shi thought while giggling. Tae Jung giggled quietly while looking over at Mi Young.

“Mi Young sshi, w-what would yo-you like to do?” She quietly asked while Mi Young was too busy staring at Jong Hyun. Se Kyung was basically flirting with Jong Hyun and brushing her hands on Jong Hyun’s cheeks; both sides slowly. Mi Young felt a pit of jealousy forming.

“Mi Y-young,”  Tae Jung began while diverting her gaze over to Jong Hyun also and knew the problem. She placed a hand on her friend’s shoulder. Mi Young turned over and looked at her friend. A soft smile formed on the shy girl’s lips. The once angered girl smiled and turned away from the couple.

“Mi Mi sshi, forget about him. Let’s go and have fun like always,” Mi Young nodded without taking another look back at the couple. The three girls walked back home, joking around and planning on what they might do later tonight.

A strange car drove up to them and paused in front of them. The girls all halted and stared at the car weirdly. The car door opened up and showed Tae Jung’s older brother.

“Oppa,” Tae Jung began while he motioned her into the car. She sighed and looked at the two friends. Her expression was a bit depressed.

“Mian…” Tae Jung began while the two other girls all smiled and pushed her into the car. “We’ll call you when we get home okay?” Hye Shi and Mi Young waved good-bye as the car drove off. The two girls just began to enter Mi Young’s house until Hye Shi got a phone call. Mi Young wondered what just happened but Hye Shi couldn’t explain the situation but only knew that she was needed at the hospital. Mi Young waved as the girl ran away screaming her apologies.

Mi Young was now alone without her friend’s company. She sighed and took off her bag and placed it near the front door. She locked the house door since no one was home anyways. Her parents were at work and well she didn’t have siblings. She walked off with her hands in her pocket and she breathes out the cold air.

She walked out to the park and looked around to seeing no one was there at all. All there was street lights, snow covered sidewalks and a playground. She sighed at the loneliness and walked over to the swing set and sat down. This was defiantly not what she planned on a great Christmas at all. She swung her feet back and forth. The swings creaked each time. She was far too busy and lost in her thoughts to notice a teenage boy was watching her from a far.

The mysterious boy walked on over and took a seat beside her. He swung his feet and began swinging beside her. The loud creaks from the swing snapped the girl out of her thoughts and she looked up to seeing the Prince Charming that she had always dreamed of. She blinked as Jong Hyun; the Jong Hyun was swinging beside her.

“W-what are you doing here…?” She choked out while looking at him. He stopped and swung slowly to look at her closely. She looked at him with rosy red cheeks.

“Can’t I be here?” He asked jokingly back at her. “It’s not against the law or anything is it? Mi. Young?” He spaced out her name as she blushed deeper from the coldness and how he was joking with her.

“N-no, jeez.” She stuttered out while looking away from him. He chuckled at how cute she was. “Besides, why aren’t you with your girlfriend?” She scowled out with envy.

“Se Kyung? We broke up.” She heard him began while she snapped her head back over at him. Did he just say that they broke up?

“W-what?” She asked while looking at him with wide eyes. He sat there with a cute pout on his lips.

“We. Broke. Up.” He said once again. She still didn’t believe him at all.

“If you don’t mind me asking…why? Why did you two break up…?” She quietly wondered while he didn’t say anything for a while.

“She went overseas for more schooling. She asked me to wait for her. I don’t really think I could wait three years for her, so I decided to break up with her. When she comes back, if she still loves me and if I still love her, we’ll be back together.” He explained to the smaller girl. She nodded in understanding.

“Jong Hyun, I’m sorry,” Jong Hyun looked over at the girl that was shaking from the cold weather.

“Why are you sorry?” He got up and took off his red scarf and placed it around the younger girl’s neck. She froze while staring into his beautiful brown eyes. Her heart beat sped up as to how close they were.

“I…I don’t know but it seems as though you are having a more awful Christmas Eve then me,” She murmured out for him to hear. He smiled softly at the girl and took her hands. He pulled her up on her feet.  The next movement was really shocking for the younger girl. He wrapped his arms around the girl and hugged her tightly.  Body heats were being shared; there was a long moment of silence.

Slowly as the two stood in the middle of the park, small specks of snow began falling on them, the street lights and Christmas lights began flashing. The two didn’t notice it since they were still embracing. “Mi Young,” Jong Hyun whispered in her ear. She bit her lip and nodded slowly for him to continue.

“My Christmas Eve wasn’t all horrible,” He continued while she listened to his sweet voice echoed through her ears. “Because of you, it just got brighter. Thank you so much Mi Young” Jong Hyun said while pulling away and kissing her softly on her forehead. Mi Young blinked slowly and looked at him with pink cheeks.  She got on her tippy toes and kissed his cheek lightly. “No problem, Jong Hyun”

“Mi Young, in school you never spoke to me right?” Jong Hyun asked first while holding the younger girl’s hand. She shook her head and smiled softly. “Why not,” He stopped and looked at her.

“I was afraid,” She began while avoiding eye contact.

“What were you afraid of?” Jong Hyun was really curious now.

“When I saw you for the first time, I was afraid to meet you just now.” She stated while looking at him with tinted pink cheeks. He blinked and waited for her to continue.

“When I met you just now, when you kissed me, I was afraid to kiss you back.”  She continued while pausing for a second.

“When I kissed you I was afraid to love you.” He blushed slightly at what she was saying.

“…Now that I love you, I am afraid to lose you…”

There was an awkward tension between the two. Snow fell slowly as her heart beats quickly. Jong Hyun stared at her and felt his cheeks warming up and his heart beat fasten.

“If you’re that afraid…then why don’t you be mine?”

She stood still as her gaze slowly met up with his. She was speechless, baffled and didn’t know what to do now. Her eyes began to tear up and she smiled softly. He cupped her face and brushed the tear away.

“Will you be mine, Mi Young?”
