Chapter 3 Tying Loose Ends
The Exchange ProgramThis is a double update cuz it's Friday. So if you haven't read chapter 2 yet, please feel free to do so.
The three of you remained rooted in place. Eunmi seemed to take great interest with the ugly floral rug on the carpet, while Woohyun seemed to be watching you for any emotion. You on the other hand, were busy assesing the situation. It appeared than Eunmi was packing her bags with the assistance of Woohyun. You closed the door behind you and shakily jammed your keys into your sweater pocket.
"What is this?" you asked, your voice coming out more shakily than you would have liked.
You told yourself it was normal to be apprehensive towards them, but you couldn't cower before them. Woohyun figured Eunmi wouldn't say anything so he spoke for her,
"Eunmi is moving into my dorm." You tried to remain unfazed even though something snapped inside you.
"And am I to pay both parts of the rent for this room?" you snapped a little more aggressively than you would have liked.
You saw Eunmi flinch a little bit and she suddenly burst,
"I'm sorry!" she blurted, "I'm sorry for not telling you."
Sorry for not telling you. You felt rage bubble up inside you.
"Sorry for not telling me?!" you yelled at her, "Is that all you have to be sorry for? How about for taking my man? How about for just abandoning me and breaking contact? How about for being the tiest best friend on the planet. But you're sorry for not telling me? And what does that solve?"
Your face was red now, Eunmi was crying softly while still staring at the floor, and Woohyun was glaring at you while trying to comfort Eunmi. The scene made you feel sick.
"Eunmi will come live with me. She'll still pay her half of the rent so you can live comfortably," Woohyun spoke. You could tell he was trying to keep a calm tone; as if he had any right to be the angry one in this situation.
"I am sorry, Jangmi. What I did was wrong and I suppose I should have broken it off with you before pursuing Eunmi. I really loved you. . .but I loved Eunmi too and eventually, more."
