Chapter 23 Excursion part 2
The Exchange ProgramDouble update, if you haven't read chapter 22 yet, it would benefit you to go back and do so.
"This will be fun."
A part of you wanted to cry when he said that, another part wanted to run regardless of your ankle, and the largest part of you wanted to slap the smug grin off of Luhan's face.
He leaned back in his chair the smile gone and a rather empty look on his face,
"Relax. . .I'm not going to do anything to you. We're friends."
Your ears perked at his loose use of the friend word. You glanced at him with a quirked eyebrow, but he didn't seem to notice as he stared intently at the fire in front of the both of you.
You adjusted yourself in the cushiony chair. You looked around and fidgeted slightly, making no effort to hide how uncomfortable you were with the loud silence. Luhan seemed lost in thought and didn't pay much attention to you.
You folded your hands and cleared your throat.
"Why aren't you skiing with them?" you inquired softly.
Luhan seemed to break out of his trance and turned to you.
"Fear of heights. . ." he hesitated, lips quivering as though he was going to say more. In the end he decided against it and fixed his stare back on the fire. You didn't know where your sudden courage came from, probably the fact that the situation was unbearably awkward, but Luhans words seemed to awake something in you.
"Oh I agree," you stated firmly, "I never wanted to go on that forsaken hill in the first place, but TAO just had to keep pushing me."
You seemed to forget it was Luhan you were blabbering to, or the fact that you were talking in general, becaue you kept going delving deeper and deeper.
"I don't know what I was thinking! Why would I just let myself get pushed around like that? I have feelings. . .I'm a human too. Maybe I just wanted him to ask what I wanted, or how I felt. Maybe I'm tired of being the neglected one who everyone thinks they can just push down the hill! Damn it!!"
By then your voice was slightly shaking so you stopped talking and panted lightly for breath. Your foot was jittering like crazy and you were starting to feel hot.
"It's okay," a soft voice said. Your head snapped up towards Luhan whose gaze was fixed on you. He reached out a tentative hand and placed it on your arm.
"It's okay," he repeated, "There are days like that for everyone. Where all the that's happened builds up and you just end up hating yourself the most for letting it have happened in the first place."
By then his hand had moved down your arm and now rested lightly on top of your own hand. It wasn't awkward, or unwanted, it was relieving.
"There's people on your side you know," He said staring straight ahead now, "It might now seem like it and I don't know everything, but you don't always have to carry all the burden by yourself. It's okay. . .and if it doesn't feel like it now, just know that eventually it will be."
By the time he finished, he was staring at you again. You were stunned into silence. Who was this Luhan in front of you? This mature, kind and understanding Luhan?
"How .
