(Kyuhyun POV)

I couldn’t help but stare at the guy when he walked away. I mean, it seemed as though he was literally trying to make me jealous. What does he think I am? Did he think that I was interested in her or something? Even if he did, he was probably trying to intimidate me. Psh, him and his deep voice and bigger body (Not chubby, just bigger) then mine. Whatever it was, if he wanted Alex, it’s fine. As long as he wasn’t a or anything like that.

But I swear, I’ve seen his face somewhere before.

 “Ready?”

I looked at Alex and nodded, grabbing my bag and walked out of the café.

That guy’s really strange. But where have I seen that face before? It just…Gah, it looks so familiar. Is he a model? Probably.

 “Sunbae?” I suddenly snapped out of my thoughts and turned to Alex as she smiled, “Are you okay?” she asked, fixing her bag and her Minnie Mouse knit hat.

The pink crane on her neck caught my eyes. Wow, it looks expensive. Maybe he was after Alex after all.

“Are you okay?” Alex repeated. “You’re acting strange.”

“I’m fine.” I said before smiling, “Just thinking.”

“About Chae?” she grinned, nudging my shoulder as she started walking.

“Yeah, about her.” I lied, linking arms with her and leaning towards her ear. “By the way, I didn’t know you were dating.”

“Dating?”

“You know, that Hyun guy?”

Her eyes widened, “Oh no! We aren’t, really!” she turned red, “We’re just really good friend.”

“Mhm.”

“Honest, we are.”

“Yes, because normal guys, those don’t like you, would buy you expensive gifts from Japan and ask you out.”

“It’s not that, we’re really just friends.” She rose her right hand, “I promise.”

“Sure.” I muttered, nodding my head.

She looked at me, “Why? Jealous that I have someone and you’re all alone?”

My jaw dropped as I stared at her. She had a smug smile on her lips. I pinched her cheek almost immediately, “Aish, you brat.”

“I’m a loveable brat, admit it.”

“No, you aren’t.”

“Am.”

“Aren’t.”

“So~ plans with Chae~” Alex sang. I rolled my eyes. “For the musical, you’re sitting next to her, and I’ll advise you on what to do.”

“Come on, it can’t be that hard.”

“If it wasn’t that hard, then I wouldn’t need to be there.” She rolled her eyes, “Besides, I’m your little helper. I’ll do anything, as long as Chae gets out of my hair.”

“You must not like Chae being there all the time.”

There was a small silence, before Alex said anything. I just stared at her with a curious gaze, while she let out a deep sigh. “Well, it gets annoying once in a while since she always groans to me about why I don’t have a date. And, if it’s not that, it’s either crying to me about her recent break-up.”

“…Oh…”

“Yeah…”

There was another silence before I heard Alex’s stomach rumble. I looked over at her and she was red.

 “I don’t get why you’re still embarrassed whenever your stomach rumbles.” I sighed, looking around for a restaurant.

“Because it’s unlady like.” She muttered, holding onto her stomach.

“Well you know I’m going to buy you food, so just tell me.” I turned to look at her, but she was just staring at me with a perplexed face. “What?” I questioned.

“N-nothing, nothing at all.” She muttered.

 I nodded my head, still looking around.

“But…I think you should actually talk to Chae.”

That completely and utterly surprised me. If I were drinking water, I know I’d do a spit take almost immediately. I stopped in the snow, with brow raised, “What do you mean?” I asked, “I do talk to her.”

She sighed, “Well, it’s just that you hang out with me at work, and if now that then you’re in the dance studio with Eunhyuk practicing, and if not…Well, you’re at the library—meaning no time to woo over Chae.”

“Well, I don’t really know how to woo her over since…Well...We haven’t really planned anything out yet.”

“Oh come on! Yes we have! What have you learned in dance class with Eunhyuk?”

“That he smells like an anchovy, wears racy color undergarments, likes yelling ‘dance time!’ for some reason, and is very intimate with your brother.”

Alex laughed, “I-I-I can explain the intimate part.”

“Please do.”

“They were really close during their training at SM entertainment,” Alex nodded, “Him and some other people from Super Junior ’05. So it’s nothing really bad.”

“I guess.” I sighed, scratching the back of my head.

“But make a move on Chae before she goes on to someone else.” Alex added, “Chae gets bored really easily.”

“Yes mother.” I groaned. I rolled my eyes before pulling Alex into some random restaurant. She did a quick, “UWA!” but then realized what I was doing and followed me. I wanted kimbap, and so whether or not Alex wanted to eat it or not, I didn’t care. I wanted it. I was the one paying, so I’m the one picking it out.

We sat in a booth, I quickly put her bag next to mine. “We’re eating kimbap. You can pick what kind you want.” I muttered, trying to find her calculus book.

Let’s see, folders, folders, MAC, sketchbook, and—wait, sketchbook? I looked at Alex who was still looking through the menu before grabbing the sketchbook and flipping through the pictures. Chae, Chae, Henry, Donghae, Henry, Chae, Siwon—wait, she knows Siwon? Wait, of course, Siwon was in Super Junior ’05 with her brother! How could I not remember?

Anyways, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Kyuhy—wait, what?

A smile immediately fell on my face when I saw that the more recent pictures were of me. Aww, Alex is so sweet. The pictures were mostly of me writing something, or eating (the thing we both do whenever we walk home together.). I quickly put the sketchbook back in and grabbed her calculus book.

Alex was finished ordering, and didn’t notice a thing. She turned to me and smiled, I returned it. It was just a silence before I opened the book.

“Sunbae, can’t we study after we eat?”

I looked up at her and slowly nodded my head, putting the book away. Again, I looked up and saw her with a face that had BORED all over it. I scratched the back of my head, thinking of a conversation starter.

“Can I draw you?” I randomly blurted out.

She looked at me, surprised that I would ask that question, but immediately nodded. “S-sure.”

I gave her a shy grin before rummaging through my backpack for a piece of paper. I placed the paper on the table and looked at her. She had a curious face on (which looked adorable) and smiled at me. I couldn’t help but smile back, but anyways, I started to draw her. And wow, have I ever mentioned I have bad drawing skills? I mean, they’re terrible!

Man, my mom’s the principal at an art academy, and I can’t even draw! Does that even make sense?

Okay…Just…make it more detailed.

I looked at Alex who was just staring at me with a curious smile on her face. Damn it Kyuhyun! Why can’t you draw? I looked back up again and saw Alex stare at me while biting her lower lip. “I’m not that bad.”

“It’s not that…” she mumbled, “It’s just that…I’ve never seen you draw before…So I’m curious.”

I looked at the picture then back at Alex, then back at the picture. Why do I at drawing?

“Sunbae! Can I see?”

“No!” I took the notebook away defensively into my chest, “You can’t look.”

“Why can’t I look?”

“Because.” I said, drawing her again. I looked up and noticed her eyes.

Wow. They’re pretty. They were like puppy eyes, begging for me to just randomly go, “Aww” by it. What’s worse is that she’s pouting. Wonderful, right? Plus, the sun’s going down, and it’s showing her beautiful facial features. No, I’m not admiring her as a lover, but as a normal straight guy that sees one of his female companions beautiful.

You know what I mean, right?

Like, for girls. Being attractive is an important feature, is it not? When you first meet someone, you only see their face. But after getting to know them, you slowly start to notice how beautiful they really are—as if their faces didn’t matter anymore. It was more like along the lines of being about to still care for them even though you know who they really are.

But wow, Alex is really beautiful.

“…Can I help you?”

I snapped out of my thoughts and realized that I’ve been staring at Alex all this time.

“Nothing, you’re just beautiful.” I (stupidly) blurted out.

She immediately turned red and looked down—but I swear, she’s smiling at that comment. Yep, defiantly smiling. But come on, if you saw her, you’d say she was beautiful too. Who wouldn’t? She’s gorgeous. Any guys with eyes could see that. (Well, to me, Chae’s the prettiest girl in the world, after my mother of course.)

“D-Dork.” She muttered.

“I’m an adorable dork.” I smiled.

“A-anyways.” She suddenly grabbed the paper from me, “I’m gonna look at this thank you.”

“Don’t laugh.” I warned.

“I won’t.” she grinned, then took a look at the paper. I could tell with her eyes that she was shocked—beyond shocked if not even a little.

“I know, I’m bad.” I muttered.

Yes, yes I can’t even draw a stick figure right much less a human being! HOWEVER! I must admit, that’s the best drawing I’ve ever done (even though it looks as if a 4 year old could’ve done it better) but I’m not an art person. I can sing, and yell, and that’s about it.

“Do you want me to teach you how to draw?”

I pouted my lips, and lowered my head, “Yes please.”

She chuckled, I put my head back up as she got out of her seat and took the seat next to mine. Alex looked at me with her big eyes then at the paper. Oh god, she has gorgeous eyes.

Ah, that guy (what was his name again?), I wonder why does he like her? I mean, yes, Alex is pretty, but she’s…average. Meanwhile, he looks like a freaking Korean celebrity! He probably isn’t, right? What would a Korean celebrity want to do with our little Alex? She’s too innocent to do weird things with a celebrity, right?

But…Is she interested in him?

No, there’s no way, right? Guys with that kind of face are usually jerks. What if he hurts Alex? Then Alex wouldn’t help me in winning over Chae, she’ll be too heartbroken! Oh dear, what to do now?

“Hey Alex.” I started, getting out of my mental babble.

“Hm?” she said, still drawing a circle (or oval, whatever it’s called) on the paper.

“Do you find any interest in any guy, at all?”

Alex looked at me, then at the paper again. “What’s with the sudden question?”

I shrugged, “Well, you know who I’m after, so I might help you out.”

She chuckled, “Nope.”

“Aww, come on.” I pouted. Thank God it’s not him.

Alex looked at me with those puppy-like eyes again. Stay calm Kyuhyun.

Flick~

“OWW! SUNBAE!” Alex pouted.

It’s not my fault, girls and their being adorable and what not.Besides, I’ve had thousands of girls lie to me by giving me that look.

“Tell me!”

“I don’t date!”

“Why?”

“Because men are jerks.”

What?

Guys are jerks? How so? Aren’t I nice? Aren’t I the nice guy where? I’m always here for the girls, I’m always the gentleman (Well, after Mr. Choi’s training and all) so how am I a jerk?

I stared at her before frowning, “I’m a jerk?”

“Huh?” she looked at me.

“After all those meals, the times I walked you home, then tutored you.” I sighed.

“Sunbae, it isn’t like that.”

“Is it because I watched you when you slept? I swear, I won’t do that again.” I joked.

Alex gawked at me before laughing, “It’s not that Sunbae, you know I love you.”

Just then, the waitress came and gave us our orders. I grabbed the chopsticks and started to eat, “Yeah yeah, whatever. But why do you think that men are all like that?”

She gave me the most pitiful eyes that I’ve ever seen, “It’s because whenever I date someone, they always end up breaking up with me because either they fell for Chae or only dated me because they wanted to get closer to Chae.”

There was a silence between us.

What kind of man does that to a girl? Those that do that don’t have a reason to live. Gosh, it’s because of them that it’s hard to even be friends with the pretty girls! I mean, Alex’s is adorable! What kind a guy would want to leave her for her best friend?

Whoever they are, they’re idiots.

 “They don’t have a right to live, honestly.” I sighed, rubbing my temples before looking at Alex. “Alex, you’re really pretty. Any guy that can’t see that is an idiot.”

“Yeah right.” She sighed.

“I’m serious.” I gave her a small smile, “The only difference between you and Chae is that you don’t really care about looks, Chae does. Or well, at least that’s what it seems.”

 “What do you mean about that?” her eyebrow rose.

“Well, guys like girls who’s willing to pretty themselves up one in a while. I mean, you’re pretty without make-up, but you know, just something different. Just once a week, maybe a month, you should change your hairstyle. I’m not saying dying your hair, but curl it, crimp it, I dunno, wear something that’ll make guys go gaga over you or something.”

She nodded her head, “I guess I’m not going to date…”

“Come on, it can’t be that hard.” I smiled, putting another piece of kimbap into my mouth.

“I just…I don’t know.”

“C’mon. It can’t be that bad.”

“Yes, yes it is.” She muttered, thanking the lady when she was about to leave. “I mean,” she grabbed her chopsticks. “Try dating someone, and have them leave you for someone better. Sunbae, you probably haven’t had that happen to you, but I’ve had it happen to me multiple times, and it was just…I’m tired of it.”

There was a pang of understanding when she said that. Memories of mine recalled Sora when we broke up. Oh God, I was so heartbroken. I hated it. Worst of all, I gave up everything for her. Everything. It was so stupid, I never should’ve done that. If I were to ever fall in love, I don’t want to ever give up something as important as that ever again.

Now that I think about it…I wonder what would’ve happened to me if I were to become a singer…

Would I make it?

“Let’s change the subject.” Alex’s frowned turned upside down, “Sunbae, SM entertainment’s holding auditions. Do you wanna audition for it?” she asked, eating a piece.

I blinked for a bit, “I’m in law school.”

“Come on, just audition.” She smiled. “Let other people hear your voice.”

“And what? Give up being a lawyer?”

“Do you really want to be one?”

I was silent for a moment. Of course not. I wanted to be a singer, but it’s too late now. I’m already in law school.

“Sunbae, even though being a lawyer will make tons of money, would it make you happy?”

“Alex.” I sighed, “Let’s not talk about it.”

Alex was silent for a little bit, “I’m sorry…”

“It’s okay.” I sighed, “Let’s just eat, okay?”

She nodded. And so we did that until we were both stuffed and couldn’t eat anymore. Alex, again, tried to teach me how to draw. I’m proud to say that I did everything she said even though I was barely paying attention to it all.

The only thing that was on my mind was, what kind of jerk would do that to poor Alex?

I mean, just look at her! She looks so innocent and defenseless. I wonder how she dealt with the heartbreak. She’s a child, she shouldn’t have to deal with that. Plus, why?

She’s smart, and she’s like a housewife. Any guy would love to have a girl that could cook for them, right? I mean, yeah, Chae has a gorgeous face, curvy body, S-line, gorgeous smile, beautiful long legs…eyes that twinkle every times you see her…Perfect hair…And—wait, no, what just happened?

Alex is adorable. That’s all. She’s adorable. She has eyes that screamed innocence, a smile that could brighten anyone’s day, a bright personality that could cheer you up on a rainy day, loyalty—

“Sunbae-nim~” Alex sang.

I snapped back into reality and stared at her. “Let’s go.” I muttered, immediately putting the paper back into her bag.

“Huh? Already? We haven’t even studied yet.”

“We can do it at your place.”

She nodded, “I see.”

Alex leaned over to grabbed her bag, grabbing my hand she pulled me out of the booth.

“Sunbae, you already paid, right?” she asked in the most adorable voice ever.

I looked at her and smiled. “You brat, of course I did.”

“Just checking.” She beamed, pulling me out of the café.

I followed her, but then I realized something. It’s probably the worst thing ever to realize this, but… My heart started beating. It started to beat really fast.

…Let’s just pretend that didn’t happen…

Ahh, if you guys haven't tried Kimbap, you don't know what you're missing! Kimbap is DELICIOUS!! Plus, it's more filling than sushi ;~; Plus it's cheaper. Ahh, kimbap deliciousness <3 And it's almost singles day, isn't it? Who's going to celebrate that day? -raises hand- LET'S BE FOREVER ALONE TOGETHER!! :D

And it was interesting to see you guys guess who the mystery guy is ^^ In all honesty, I didn't know that there were two other Seunghyuns ^^" I only thought of one. But eh, I might change the roles. Who knows? Depends, but who's your favorite Seunhyun?
