Chapter 44
Force of AttractionDetective Kang's POV
I yawn loudly as I walk out of the bathroom with a towel around my neck, I smack my lips together tiredly as I watch the precinct slowly come to life with different officers coming and going. I drag my feet over to my desk then sit with a sigh, my laptop lights up as I move my finger across the mouse pad, and a blown up image of the suspect's side profile stares back at me.
The CCTV footage only captured Choi Mi Na exiting the building, she took about four steps before pausing slightly to return, but that's when the unidentified suspect came up behind her and they both walked off to only God-knows-where.
"Yah, don't you know how to answer your phone?"
I look up just in time to see an annoyed Tae Oh staring back at me. "I left it charging in some corner, why were you calling me anyway?"
He walks over to my desk and drops a bag on top of the pile of papers lying there. "I went to your house for clothes for you, and I fed your cat,"
I nod my head at him, "thanks Mom, I love you."
He rolls his eyes at me then walks over to his own desk, I sigh as I peer into the bag, Tae Oh is a bit backwards when it comes to fashion, hopefully he picked out sensible clothes for me to wear.
"Is this the CCTV footage?" I nod my head at him, "it's not much, did they already blow up the image of him?"
I hum in response then get off the chair in search of my phone. "It's like the guy came out of nowhere," I detach my phone from the charger then sigh at the one notification.
At least there's someone out there who's interested enough to send me a text message, my smile falls as I can't identify the number. With a sigh, I drag myself back to my desk where I open the messaging application.
"Oh? Kim Taehyung texted me last night."
Tae Oh looks up at me then drags the chair from his desk to mine. "What does it say?"
I furrow my eyebrows as I spot the link to the website he had mentioned. A quick search on the internet leads both Tae Oh and I to a website which might just be the key to cracking this case, "yah, Seo Joon-ah, what the hell is this?"
I ignore his question as I myself don't know what I'm looking at, scores of pictures of Choi Mi Na graces the front page of what seems to be her so-called fan website. I scroll all the way down and just happen to click on a picture, seated on the grass is Choi Mi Na with what seems to be her cello case in her lap.
"Choi Mi Na on the grounds of Seoul National University," Tae Oh reads out loud, "her first performance at the Blue House is tomorrow evening, it's no question that she'll do well. March 23, 2014, no way."
I shake my head in disbelief, "get forensics up here, no scratch that, the entire precinct, everyone needs to be here."
After a quick change of clothes, Tae Oh and I stand before several officers and detectives in the meeting room. I sigh as I take in the weary expression on their faces, it's obvious that every one's tired and feeling the pressure, not everyone is optimistic about the outcome of this case.
"Alright, settle down. An hour ago my partner and I stumbled on a website, well not stumbled, someone led us there. But anyway, I believe that this warrants some looking into as pictures of Choi Mi Na dates back to three years ago, it's obvious that she was being followed all this time without her knowledge."
Tae Oh picks up after me, "forensics is currently combing through the website in an effort to find the domain or an IP address, as apparently this one website has four different IP addresses in and around Seoul which makes it even more suspicious. Now, I want you to review your interview notes, there must be something that didn't sit right with you, it doesn't matter if you think it's meaningless, we need to hear it."
