Chapter 50
Lost LoveLay crashed down onto the couch he had in his office. He was tired. Although, he wasn’t a doctor being the heir to a hospital was still a lot of work. Unlike the other boys, whose jobs were just to make partnership and contacts with their companies, his job was not only that but also to make sure that his workers are able to save lives and help as many people as they can. Like today, he just finished watching a 4 hour heart surgery on an important politician making sure everything went well. Lay leaned his head on the back of the sofa and closed his eyes. I’m so tired.
He was about to drift off until a memory of last night came to him.
Flashback
Lay just finished finishing up the last of the documents for an important surgery for a politician the next day. He had to make sure that the patient knew the risks he was taking and that the family knew as well. Also, because he was an important man there can be no mistakes. His family’s reputation was on the line. After finishing he closed the folder and stretched his arms over his head. He looked at the time.
“9 already?” he looked at his watch. “I guess I should head back home.”
He picked up his suit jacket and walked out. As he was making his way down the hallways he heard the click clacks of heels. He looked over and saw the back of a woman.
That’s strange. This is the administrative wing. Only department heads and I have an office on this wing. From what I remember there are no female doctors on break tonight. The ones that are working are on call.
He scrunched his brows. He followed where the woman disappeared to. He discreetly followed her until he saw her walk into a door. As she turned Lay caught a glimpse of the woman before she walked in.
Wendy? What is she doing here at this time?
He walked up to the door and read the name on the side.
Dr. Seo Kibum.
Lay sat up and rested his arm on the couch’s arm. There was something strange about it. He couldn’t help but feel something is off.
Dr. Seo was the one who oversaw Wendy’s pregnancy test. He’s been working here for years. He’s a value doctor.
Lay debated over it a couple more minutes until he sighed. He pulled his phone out of his coat jacket and dialed a number.
RING RING RING
“Yes boss?”
“Jaoho, I need you to do something for me.”
“Anything you say boss.”
“Look into Dr. Seo Kibum.”
“Dr. Seo Kibum, one of the department head sir?”
“Yes.”
“What do you want to know?”
“Look into his family for me. Anything you can get.”
“You got it boss.”
“What do you mean you and Krystal are getting engaged?” Areum asked as she and Kai were both at the banquet hall getting the last minute touches ready before tomorrow. Currently the two were taking a break and was outside in the hotel garden having tea and cake.
Kai sighed. “Areum I meant it when I said I wanted you back.”
Areum’s eyes grew wide. “Jongin-“
“And I meant it when I said I’ll wait for your answer. I need you to believe me.” he said to her with sincere eyes.
“Then why?”
Kai sighed. He looked down at his fingers nervous. Wondering if he should tell her or not.
“Krystal tried to kill herself.”
Areum almost choked on her drink. “What?”
“I got a call from her doctor a few days ago telling me she suffered from depression after our break up. I guess it triggered something in her and it affected her. He also told me she attempted suicide before.”
“Oh my gosh…”
Kai nodded his head sadly. “when I went to go see her I guess she thought you know; we were getting back together. And then our parents thought we wanted to get engaged. I didn’t want to say no. I was scared she’ll get hurt again and do something stupid again, so I just went with it.”
“I see.”
There was a silence between them.
Kai reached over and place his hand on top of hers. Areum’s eyes widened and she looked at him. Kai gave her a gentle smile.
“I’ll find a way ok? Now let’s get you home?”
Kai drove Areum back to her house but not before stopping by the bakery. Areum hadn’t had some sweets in awhile and Kai was more than glad to take her. They were now in front of the building she was staying at. Kai got out and opened the door for her.
“I’ll see you at the banquet then?” he asked.
Areum smiled. “Of course. I put a lot of work in it and I’m invited.”
Kai smiled, gave her a hug, and drove off.
Areum started walking to the elevators. Once she got to her floor she stepped out just to see Sehun in front of his door.
“Sehun!” she grinned and called out.
Sehun looked over at her.
“Hey…”
Areum walked over to Sehun. “Hello, just got off work?”
Sehun nodded.
Areum felt that
