Chapter 15
Lost LoveAfter the confrontation with Krystal in the bathroom Areum went outside again for some fresh air. Areum sat on one of the benches provided. Areum breathed in a big breath of air and let it out. She did this several times as she gazes into the starry sky. This has been such a stressful night. Areum thought to herself as she stared at the sky. She sat in silence while relishing the silent night until she heard a voice.
“You might catch a cold if you stay out here too long.” Areum turned around just to be faced with someone she didn’t think will be out there.
“Hey.” Kai smiled at Areum.
“Hey.” Areum replied.
“Mind if I take a seat?”
Areum shook her head as Kai proceeded to sit next to her on the bench. Kai then followed Areum’s eyes as she faced back into the sky.
“The stars are out tonight huh? Although the clouds are still covering some of it, pity.”
Areum continued to look at the sky, “Yeah it is but its still really calming. Is it not?” she asked as she faced Kai. Kai turned his head and looked at Aerum. He smiled again.
“Yeah it is. It feels nice. Really nice.” Especially with you. It strangely feels so right here with you in this moment. The continued to stare at the sky for a few more minutes.
“I received your letter and journal not too long after you left.” Kai was the first to break the silence. Areum widened her eyes. Her cheeks flushed remembering what was in them. Areum looked down.
“Sorry. I shouldn’t have sent them to you. I don’t know what I was doing.” She sighed. “I was trying to get over you and I wanted to throw them away. But then I thought that because it was such a big part of my life throwing it away would have been a waste? I don’t know what I was thinking sending it to you. If it caused you any trouble I’m sorry, I don’t know what I was thinking.” She looked up at Kai with apologetic eyes.
“It didn’t cause any trouble at all trust me.” Kai softly said. Areum smiled at Kai in relief.
“Thank goodness. That’s a relief. I’m glad it didn’t and you and Krystal seem to be doing well.” Areum said as she faced the stars again. Kai looked at her profile. Yeah, we’re doing fine. Kai didn’t know what he was thinking or feeling at that point. For 5 years he thought he and Krystal was doing fine. They were a happy couple, but he cannot deny that throughout the years he felt that something was missing in their relationship. He never mentioned it to anyone because he thought he was just imagining things. But right now staring at this girl next to him he felt a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach. He can’t quite pinpoint it out yet. Yet it didn’t feel bad, oh no it felt good actually, really good. They continued to sit and stare at the stars for a few more minutes when they heard a song play from the banquet inside make its way to them. The song reached their ears. Areum smiled as a memory hit her.
“Hey Kai?”
Kai looked at her. There it is again. She called me Kai. Why do I dislike it when she calls me that? Kai broke out of his trance and looked at her.
“Yeah?”
“Do you still dance?”
Kai widened his eyes at her question. She remembered. After all these years she still remembered. Dancing was one of Kai’s most favorite thing to do. He loved it. Dance was on
