"Gentlemen, it's Sunday and I want to be out with my family, enjoying this nice day so let's make this quick. Has the prosecution made a decision on the deal that was offered?" The judge asked as Hong and the prosecutor gathered in an empty courtroom.

If the prosecutor agreed to the deal, they'd settle and Minsoo would be sentenced accordingly but if the deal was thrown out, then they'd have no choice but to go to trial.

Hong smiled to himself as he looked over at the prosecutor who looked less than amused. He checked his expensive watch as he waited for the answer. The prosecutor looked at Hong begrudgingly before spitting his words out.

"After a lot of deliberation, we've decided that we will take the d--"

Suddenly the doors at the back of the court room bursted open, getting everyone's attention. Hong's brows raised in intrigue as Himchan and Sang Hee came storming through the aisles with conviction in both their eyes.

"Sorry for interrupting." Himchan said with smirk. "I just need to speak to the prosecutor."

The judge frowned, "This is a closed door meeting, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you detectives to leave."

"We understand, we just have something important that we need to show Prosecutor Kang." Sang Hee said with a pleasant smile.

Hong's eyes flickered to the envelope they were holding before he met Himchan's eyes that were staring at him smugly.

The prosecutor gave them an incredulous look before turning to the judge, "If I could have a minute with them?"

"Make it quick."

The prosecutor turned to them and pulled them aside, "What the hell are you guys doing here?"

"Saving your ." Himchan said while holding out the envelope with a smirk.

The prosecutor gave them a strange look before taking it from him. He opened it up and pulled out a thick stack of sheets before speedily reading through it. Himchan and Sang Hee watched in satisfaction as the prosecutor's eyes widened.

He flipped through the papers and stared at the last page before looking up at them, "Is this real?"

"Check inside the envelope."

The prosecutor looked back into the envelope and pulled out a small recording device before gaping at them.

"How did you…?"

Sang Hee grinned while side eyeing Hong who was watching them intently, "Just think of it as a happy miracle."

"Prosecutor Kang? We don't have all day." The judge called out.

The prosecutor gave Sang Hee and Himchan a smile before rolling his shoulders back and turning to the other two men.

"Upon reviewing evidence that had only now come into our possession, I am choosing to turn down the defence's deal and will pursue the charges against Minsoo."

Hong frowned, "What evidence? I was not aware of any such thing."

"Like I said, it just came into my possession." The prosecutor said with a cocky smile.

The judge pushed his glasses up, "I'd like to remind you that Detective Kim is on suspension so anything he turns in is invalid."

"But I didn't collect the evidence." Himchan spoke up with a smile, "It was sent to me and I'm passing it over to the prosecutor."

Hong scoffed, "What evidence could you have?"

Kang handed the stack of sheets to the judge, "That's the transcript."

"To what?" The judge asked.

Kang raised the recorder and pressed play as a third voice spoke up from the device. "I should've killed them both just like I did to Chae Mi. Dr. Lee always told me that I got too carried away with my emotions. If I had just killed them without trying to turn them on each other, I would've gotten what I wanted by now. I just wanted him to see what it felt like to lose someone he cared about. Just like how I lost Seon. But I should've just killed him…I should've just killed him. I should've just killed him. I should've just killed him. I should've just killed him. I SHOULD'VE JUS--"

The prosecutor clicked the recording device and looked at Hong, "I'm sure you can guess how the rest of the recording goes and if you don't, you can always have a look at the transcript."

"This doesn't prove that he killed Dr. Lee, though." Hong retaliated.

The prosecutor looked unbothered, "If you flip to the last page, you'll see the complaint that Dr. Lee had filed against Minsoo, the only reason that no one found it was because Minsoo had hidden it when he worked in Violent Crimes. This was filed a week before Dr. Lee went missing. It states in detail Minsoo's intent to harm Himchan and how he worked with Chae Mi and that he feared for his own safety and the safety of the people that Minsoo held a grudge against."

Hong's face was blank before he glanced at Himchan. The prosecutor smiled condescendingly, "I'm sure we'll be willing to offer your client a deal if he pleads guilty on all charges including Cha Mi's and Dr. Lee's."

"I'd strongly suggest you take him up on his offer Attorney Hong, because I'm feeling more than inclined to giving the prosecution more time to collect even more evidence now that your client has a stronger tie to the other victims." The judge said while pulling off his glasses.

"We'll give you 24 hours." The prosecutor said with a smile.

Hong rolled his shoulders and bowed to the judge, "I'll take the offer to my client."

Just as he lifted his briefcase to leave, the judge stopped him, "I'd like to remind you too, Attorney Hong, that Ryu's death sentence appeal is coming up. I hope you are prepared for that hearing, you have succeeded in dodging the death penalty for your client this long but I don't know how long your luck will last."

"I understand and I'll keep that mind." Hong said stiffly before walking towards Himchan and Sang Hee, towards the door.

Just as he moved past them, he muttered something, so quiet and so subtle that neither Himchan nor Sang Hee understood what he said or what he meant.

"I hope you enjoyed the wine."

------

Himchan laughed as he watched Sang Hee flail her arms and legs excitedly as they walked to the precinct.

"We did it! Oh my god we did it! Did you see his face, he looked like he wanted to blow a blood vessel." She cheered.

He shook his head  in amusement before reaching to fix her hair, it was one of the few ways that he could touch her without raising suspicion. His fingers brushed the gauze on her ear as he stared at her.

"It still doesn't make sense. Why would someone send this to me?" He said quietly, "I thought Minsoo was behind the notes this whole time."

Sang Hee watched as he fiddled with her hair before dropping his hand to his side, "That's what I've been wondering too, but I've been thinking about it more and maybe it was Woon."

"Really?" He asked, surprised by her guess.

She shrugged, "Maybe. It's a possibility."

"But some of those notes  tried to exposed me for being in BAP. Woon would never do that." Himchan pointed out.

Sang Hee pursed her lips as she stepped through the door, "Maybe he just wanted more people to know about who you really are, instead of always lying."

"You know what? I'm tired of him keeping secrets and us not demanding answers from him. Let's just ask the old bastard." Himchan said as he dragged her over to Woon's office.

He swung the door open, startling Woon who had his phone wedged between his shoulder and ear while holding a piece of paper in front of the fax machine.

"I thought you had the week off and you're still on suspension." Woon said with knit brows.

Himchan nodded, "You're right, we just wanted to tell you that the prosecution turned down Hong's deal."

"Really?" Woon asked in surprise, "How is that possible?"

Sang Hee inspected the man's face, "Last minute evidence was found."

"That's a lucky break." Woon said while putting his phone call on hold.

Himchan narrowed his eyes, "You didn't have to do this anymore, you know."

Woon looked confused. "What do you mean?"

"All these little hints? I mean, they were weird and all and I got a literature lesson out of it but there was nothing stopping you from just telling us that you suspected Minsoo and just giving us the evidence. I don't know why you didn't just tell us since the beginning. It would've been faster than giving us these anonymous clues."

Woon blinked at the both of them. "Are you talking about those Shakespeare hints? Why the hell would I send those to you? Why would I waste my time ing around with stupid hints when I could've just come right out and tell you what I knew? Do you know how bad this makes me look that Jaehyun and Minsoo both turned out bad? I wouldn't make a game out of this."

"Wh--" Himchan and Sang Hee shared a look of surprise at Woon's annoyed tone.

Sang Hee scratched the back of her neck, "So it wasn't you?"

"No it wasn't. Now if you two would excuse me, I'm in the middle of something rather important." He snapped.

The pair of them blinked, taken back by his snappish attitude and awkwardly exited his office, the air feeling heavy on them.

Once they left, Woon let out a sigh as his shoulders sagged and stared at the piece of paper in his hands.

He gulped before picking up his phone and taking the caller off of hold, "Sorry about that, someone came into my office. What were you saying?"

"Just that faxing it should be fine. You'll be notified about the date and time of your exit interview in a few days."

Woon nodded, even though the person on the other line couldn't see, "Thank you."

He hung up and turned to his fax machine before putting the paper face down on the glass. He watched the scanner read the contents of the piece of paper before sending it to its destination.

Even though it was faced down, Woon could still see the words in big black letters.

Resignation.

-----

"That was weird." Sang Hee mumbled as they walked back to the car.

Himchan unlocked the door for them both to get in, "I've learned to stop questioning the he does."

"So, if it wasn't Woon, then who could've done all this for us?" She asked quietly.

Himchan tapped his fingers against the wheel, "Maybe we'll never know? All that matters is that we're grateful for it."

"And I am grateful. It just feels odd." She said quietly.

"At least me, you, Dong Chul and Chin Hwae are safe."

She nodded until her eyes lit up in recognition, "Oh, by the way, Dong Chul told me to tell you that you should call Namjoon when you have the chance and thank him for sending Jin."

He nodded as he peeled out of the parking lot, "I keep forgetting to do that but I'm not going to lie, I feel weird calling him up like hey thanks for sending someone to save me and my girlfriend, the girl you clearly have a thing for."

"It's better than him having to get a call like hey two people you're close with are dead and in jail." She pointed out.

Himchan laced their fingers together over the divider as they cruised, "I guess I have a lot to thank him for. If you weren't tricked into going on that dinner date, I wouldn't have swooped in to save the day and win your heart."

"I wouldn't say you swooped in." She said while rolling her eyes.

Himchan's teasing smile melted as he squeezed her hand, "I remember sitting across from you, wondering if this was how normal people dated and how much I had been missing out. It felt good being with you."

"You weren't your

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
