Sang Hee's hands trembled as she struggled trying to strap on her watch the next day.

She barely slept the whole night, thinking about what she was going to say or do once she was sitting across from Ryu. She'd probably have to hold herself back from choking him on the spot, but she couldn't exactly do that until she got what she wanted from him.

Himchan had called in for both of them, asking for a day off giving a flimsy excuse about him having a doctor's appointment and Sang Hee having to visit family, so they could go to the penitentiary.

It wasn't that she was scared about meeting him, no, she was beyond prepared.

She went through old interrogations and files, prepping herself for the way Ryu spoke to cops. Himchan was right, he knew how to hone in on someone's weaknesses and play it to his advantage, so it just meant that she had to be careful.

She couldn't show any emotions.

That still didn't change the fact that she was a bundle of nerves ready to erupt but at least she was getting it out of the way before she left.

She let out a breath of frustration when her shaking fingers fumbled with the latch.

"Here." A deep voice mumbled as a pair of warm hands took hers.

She sighed as she watched Himchan take her watch and strap it around her wrist. He slid his fingers up her arm and pulled her closer.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly as Sang Hee stared at his tie.

She nodded, shivering as the tips of his fingers dragged up and down her arm, "There's just a lot riding on this. He's basically my only lead right now."

"You might not get all your answers from him." Himchan warned gently.

She nodded, "I know but I want to try."

He cupped the side of her head, his eyes searching hers before he kissed the top of her head, "Then let's go."

Just as he turned away, she pulled him back and dug her nails into his arm, "I'm sorry I'm making you go through this. I'm sorry I'm selfish and I'm making your relive something that you want to forg--"

Himchan's lips shut her up, but unlike his soft kisses before, he had her lips open and tongue in within a second. His finger were tangled and tugging at her hair while he pulled her so that his body was pressed against hers.

Sang Hee moaned in a daze as Himchan growled into mouth, his teeth dragging across her lips before slowly pulling away.

"Don't you dare apologize to me about this." He hissed as he pulled her closer. "You need this.  I don't, for a second, think you're selfish for this. I would've been the same way and you're not making me do anything. I want to do this for you. So stop feeling guilty because this is happening."

Sang Hee gulped and looked at him before slowly reaching up and wrapping her arms around him in a hug.

"Thank you." She whispered into his neck.

Himchan hugged her back, holding her tight,  but he couldn't manage a smile, not when he was about to face the only man who would be able to expose BAP without hesitation.

After all the talk about wanting to keep her away from finding out about BAP, he was taking her to the one person who would want to reveal everything and destroy his life.

So when he kissed her, he was aware that it might be the last time she'd ever look at him like that again.

-----

Sang Hee watched Himchan walk through the metal detector before gathering his phone and it wallet. The guard nodded before escorting them to the last floor where solitary confinement prisoners were kept.

She could tell that Himchan's demeanour that completely changed since they stepped foot in the prison. His shoulders were rolled back, his arms were tensed as if he was ready to throw a punch on moment's noticed and his eyes were so vacant and cold that she tried her best not to look at them.

She hated the times when his eyes would harden over and he'd turn into someone she couldn't recognize. She'd have to remind herself that this was the same man that held her safely against his chest, with his fingers running through her hair, at night.

"Here you go." The guard said monotonously as they stopped in front of a heavy, reinforced door

The guard and typed in a pass code and scanned his badge before the door beeped open.

 "You have 1 hour."

-----

He didn't look real.

He looked like a figment of Himchan's twisted imagination.

But when they sat across from him, close enough to see the scars on his face, it was proof that it was all too real.

Devlin Ryu.

He was pushed so far back into Himchan's memory that sometimes he's forget that the man was still alive and not dead in a ditch somewhere. It wasn't like Ryu was a topic that Yongguk and Eun Ah liked to talk about over dinner every night.

His hair was shaved to a buzz cut, with a tattoo printed on his skull. His arms were set, chained, on the table with his three infamous missing fingers.

God, Himchan was blessed with Eun Ah and her relentless anger.

He could detect the brief look of surprise on Ryu's face when they first stepped in. His sharp, beady eyes following them until they were in front of him, a mere steel table, bolted into the ground, being the only thing separating them.

"I didn't know that I was allowed visitors anymore."

Sang Hee's hands fisted in her lap when she heard his casual and chilling voice. He didn't sound like someone who had been suffering in prison for years.

Himchan's face didn't falter, "Not since you shanked a guard but it looks like the judge felt bad."

"It feels like forever since I last saw you, you didn't come visit me once.  I'm kind of excited that you're here now. What's the occasion?" Ryu asked pleasantly.

"We have questions."

Ryu's sharp eyes slid over to Sang Hee, as if he has just noticed her sitting in the room. He blinked at her, tilting his head as his eyes ran over her face.

"Who are you?"

A slow, senile smile worked up her lips, "I said that we have questions. Not you. So shut the up."

Himchan's brow twitched as a smile appeared on his face. , he loved when Sang Hee's voice got cold and snappish, it meant that she was becoming an impenetrable wall.

He rested his arm on the back of her chair and quirked his brow. "You heard her."

"I heard that you became cop, so I'm guessing that she is one too…that's funny." Ryu said with a snort.

Sang Hee's eyes hardened over, "You're lucky that we've here because if it wasn't for us, then you'd be back, stuck in solitary confinement with the only freedom being the 15 minutes you're given in the courtyards. Because let's be honest, you don't get a lot visitors but you know what? If you don't watch yourself, I can make it so that you don't even look at the sun."

Ryu squinted his eyes and tilted his head, "You know, you look really familiar."

Sang Hee's eyes widened as her body stilled, "Excuse me?"

"Your face…it reminds me of someone." He said thoughtfully.

Himchan could feel how Sang Hee body started to tremble, "Woon."

"Hmm, not Woon, she looks like someone else." He said with pursed lips.

Himchan gave him a dirty look, "We're here about Woon."

"Is that old bastard still alive?" Ryu asked, bored.

Himchan ran his teeth over his lips, "Shouldn't you already know? You're clearly keeping tabs."

"On Woon? No, that man can rot in hell, hopefully because of me." Ryu said dryly.

Sang Hee spoke up, her words hissing through her gritted teeth, "Who do I look like?"

"Sang He--"

"Tell me!" She boomed, her voice sharp and unforgiving.

Ryu's eyes sparkled as he smirked, "Darling, I've see thousands of faces in my life, I can't remember every single one of them, especially the less important ones. But apparently there's someone that you want me to remember. Care giving me a hint?"

Himchan's hand slipped under the table and gently squeezed Sang Hee's upper thigh, trying to calm her down, "You had friends in high places when you were still operating. Were any of those friends ever cops?"

Ryu's eyes ever so subtly flickered to Himchan's hand that had moved under the table before he grinned, "Of course. My little brother that was shot to death by a cop and Yongguk's father. Woon's partner in fact."

Sang Hee met Yongguk's father before, the poor man looked like he was going to faint when Eun Ah was giving birth, there was no way he'd be able to pick up a gun.

"Why would the father of a man who owns a profit-free charity shoot your brother? Lie better." Sang Hee barked, not noticing how Himchan's hand stilled.

Ryu stared at her in confusion before it had all dawned on him. She didn't know.

His lips parted in awe as he leaned back in his chair and took in the image of the two of them, "This is…wow. This is really the most interesting my life has been in a while."

"Watch it." Himchan warned threateningly.

"I thought cops were supposed to be well informed and generally smart, but looks like this one isn't that bright. Or does she just not know the truth about the past, Himchan?"

Himchan's jaw locked as Sang Hee frowned and looked at him, "What is he talking about?"

"I--"

"He's right. I did have cops working for me. My brother was only one of the many. However there were some cops that I didn't even realize I had working for me. What a fun surprise for me." He muttered while staring at Himchan.

Sang Hee smirked, "You're still butthurt over Ah Min's undercover operation? Yeah, I know all about it. Must've bruised your ego, poor little crime lord got outsmarted by a cop. Especially Himchan's dad."

Himchan was barely paying attention to the conversation because there was a more terrifying thought running through his mind.

Why didn't he tell her who I was?

He had the perfect chance.

But he chose not to.

Why?

"Was Woon one of those men?" Sang Hee grumbled out.

Ryu

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
