This time it was a mask of a doe.

Innocent.

Naïve.

Trusting.

The masked man looked around the room, noticing that the psychiatrists office didn't really look like much of an office.

Much of the furniture was draped over with sheets  of plastic that were steadily collecting dust.

"The two of them…they're getting quite close, aren't they?" The psychiatrist asked while spinning the globe that sat on his desk.

"I'm sure it won't last, given their pasts and his secrets, but it's still something to be worried about, right? I mean, I hardly care but for your sake, I'm sure it's troubling." He lilted before looking up to meet the man's eyes.

"After what he did to you, he's still living his life just fine, he's even falling for that partner of his. Do you realize that? He and Woon took everything away from you and from Sang Hee, he hurts everyone and we can't let that happen for any longer.

He waited for the masked man to respond.

"Of course, I understand what your intentions are, I agree with you, but the importance now id destroying me. I'd say that accidentally stabbing her was a happy accident, we know how important she is to him. Instead of destroying him physically, we'll destroy him mentally."

The psychiatrist grinned at the man's muffled response. "You're right, men like him won't ever last."

The masked man sat stoically before muttering something else in the form of a question.

"Oh, why am I so invested? Let's just say that you and I share a lot in common my good friend."

-----

Sang Hee rubbed her eyes as she walked out into the main field. It was around dawn when Woon came into each of their room, kicking the door open and blasting a bull horn forcing them to get up.

If the Chief didn't annoy the hell out of her before, he did now.

Sang Hee hugged her body as she shuffled towards Chin Hwae, Himchan and Dong Chul.  It was freezing and she was too lazy to go all the way back to the cabin to grab a sweater.

"What are we doing?" She mumbled as she stood behind Himchan.

Dong Chul made a face, "Who knows? He just told us to wait here."

Sang Hee shivered again before frowning. She stared at Himchan's back before tugging on the back of his sweater. He glanced over his shoulder at her and watched her brows knit together as she tugged on the back of his sweater again.

Almost as if he understood, he sighed and ped his sweater before holding it out for her. Dong Chul and Chin Hwae watched her pull the oversized baggy sweater over her frame and zip it up.

Himchan snorted before pulling the hood up over her head and yanking on the drawstrings so that only her nose poked out.

"Look at them." Chin Hwae mumbled absentmindedly.

Dong Chul's eyes widened as he looked over at his friend, "What do you mean?"

"Nothing." Chin Hwae said quickly while shaking his head.

Dong Chul pouted, "Wait, what are you ta--"

"Let's go over here." He said while pulling his friend away.

Himchan pulled the hood over her eyes, "You look good."

"Ha ha ha. Funny." She deadpanned while pushing his hand away before loosening the hood and struggling with the long sleeves.

Himchan had seen women wear his clothes before. Eun Ah would raid his closet when she was pregnant and didn't like anything Yongguk had so the sight of his clothes looking huge on a tiny woman wasn't new to him.

So he didn't know why his heart flipped at the sight of Sang Hee trying to push his selves up her arms. The sweater fell passed her thigh and to be  honest, she looked adorable.

Himchan cleared his throat, embarrassed that the thought had crossed his mind and looked away.  "If you were cold you should've just brought one of your own."

Sang Hee finally managed to roll up the sleeves before she looked at him, "Don't start with me. I shouldn't be up this early."

"You smell like me now." He mumbled thoughtlessly while yanking on the drawstrings.

Sang Hee scrunched up her nose, "Don't be weird."

But when Himchan shot her a dirty look and turned to Woon who jogged up to them, she sniffed the sleeve of his sweater and felt her skin tingle at the smell.

"Today, you guys will running errands for dinner prep."

One of the other officers squinted his eyes at Woon, "Are you sure this is an actual exercise and not you just making us do errands that you forgot?"

"Himchan and Sang Hee, you'll get fire wood!" Woon said loudly, trying to drown out the other officer.

"Dong Chul and Yoo Min, you guys are going grocery shopping." Chin Hwae shot his friend a look that looked panicked.

Dong Chul frowned, "I love Yoo Min and all but shouldn't I go with Chin Hwae? We're bros."

"Don't question. Just do. Chin Hwae, I want you to set up the grill with…she should be here by now." Woon mumbled while glancing at his watch.

"I'm here!" Someone yelled while running towards them.

Chae Mi stumbled over to them, hauling a sleeping bag, "Sorry, I had an autopsy I needed to get through."

Chin Hwae blinked at her before taking one of her bags out of her hands for her. Woon nodded in understanding, "That's fine, go drop up your stuff and you and Chin Hwae will get the grill running. The rest of you, follow me."

Dong Chul pouted while staring longingly at Chin Hwae, "I guess we should go."

"It'll be okay little buddy." Chin Hwae said while patting his friend on the back and walking away with Chae Mi following close behind.

Dong Chul huffed and shuffled over to his partner before looking over at Sang Hee shyly, "See you guys later."

"So how exactly are we supposed to get fire wood?" Sang Hee asked while rubbing her eyes.

She heard some grunting behind her before Himchan cleared his throat, "We'll probably need these."

She turned at saw Himchan staring at her while holding two axes. "Fantastic."

-----

"I. Can't. Believe. This." Sang Hee punctuated each word with a grunt as she swung her axe wood, chopping it down to smaller pieces.

Himchan wiped his sweat off his forehead as he set his axe down, "You keep missing the wood, tiger."

"So I'm not a ing lumberjack. Sue me." She hissed. "By the way, my mom and dad keep pestering me about bringing you around some day. They want to do on a 'son' date with my so called boyfriend." She muttered.

"Well in that case," He mumbled softly, "I think it's about time I take your parents out and ask for your hand in marriage."

"I hate you." She muttered half heartedly.

Himchan grinned as he watched her struggle with the axe. He set down his own and walked up behind her before pressing his chest to her back and reaching around to put his hands over hers and guided the axe up.

Sang Hee's lips were parted in shock just as the axe swung down and split the wood straight down the middle.

Her eyes grew wide when she saw the wood and dropped the axe before spinning around, "That was amaz--"

Her words died in when she saw how close the two of them were standing, his nose inches away from her, his daunting eyes peering into hers curiously. His joking smile also fell when he got a close up of how the chilly air reddened her cheeks and the tips of her ears.

"Remind me never to go bowling or golfing with you." She said jokingly with narrowed eyes to break the tension.

Himchan made a face at her and stepped away, "Don't act like you don't like it."

"You think too highly of yourself." She fired back.

"That's because I'm awesome."

"If you're so awesome, maybe you can finish the rest of the firewood." She said while dusting her hands and walking away.

"Wait, hold on."

-----

Woon had given them the day off, so after they slaved away for lunch and dinner, they spent the rest of the day messing around, hanging out and playing stupid games that they made up.

Most of the time it was initiated by Himchan and Sang Hee who would recall a childhood game they used to play and convince everyone to play along until they got the whole precinct joining in on the fun.

A large part of it involved Himchan and Sang Hee either dominating together in partner games or raising the competitiveness when they were on separate teams.

Most of it ended with the other officers laughing while the two of them fought or booing them when they teamed up together and swept the wins with an all kill.

A few games of touch football, Frisbee, volleyball, capture the flag and soccer later, people either hated or loved Sang Hee and Himchan together.

Either way, Sang Hee had to admit that Woon knew what he was doing when he dragged them all out there, it wasn't something she'd like to admit, but she had to hand it to him.

They all actually bonded.

She got to meet more of the people aside from the core group of them and it was nice, a lot of them told her stories about Himchan and his old partner Minsoo, or as they liked to call him, Bulldog Hyung, and it got to a point where she was really interested in him.

"Why won't you let me meet him?" Sang Hee said with a frown as she sat on the edge of her bed late at night, applying cream to her arms as Himchan walked out of the bathroom with his toothbrush.

"The real question is why do you want to meet him so badly all of a sudden?" He said while tossing his towel aside.

Sang Hee shrugged and pulled her blanket around her shoulders, "I've heard all sorts of amazing things about him and the cases he's worked on and as your new partner I feel like I should know more about your old partner."

He reached for the hem of his shirt, too pull it off, but Sang Hee stopped him, "It's cold out, you'll freeze."

"Good call. And why does it even matter? It'll only make you feel depressed when you realize that he's way cooler than you are and ever will be." He said with a snort before sitting on his bed.

She rolled her eyes and hugged her knees, "What was he like, at least?"

"Well," Himchan said while looking up at the ceiling, "He was a hard worker, but was silent and kept to himself a lot."

She snorted, "I know the type."

He shot her a look before continuing, "He was a lot older but a few years younger than Woon. He never talked about his personal life a lot but I felt like I still knew him really well. He lived in my apartment for a really short time mainly because it was mandatory but it was nice. He was like a mentor to me. He taught me everything I knew and sure, he didn't say much to me, but I felt like we had an understanding. He always let me do my own thing and I always let him do his but when we needed to, we knew how to work together."

"That actually sounds kinda bad." She pointed out.

"That's because he wasn't as clingy as you."

She threw a pillow at him, "You love it."

He caught the pillow and laughed, "He really was great though. I was actually kinda intimidated at first. I had worked alon

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
