Chapter 30
Armed and DangerousFrom: Woonie From: Himchan
Hong? Really? He's an but to do all that?
He quoted that damn Shakespeare thing after basically threatening me about B.A.P
. Do you know what this means? He's the ing DA.
Really? Wow. Thanks for letting me know. I wouldn't have thought abt that.
I don't need your attitude. This could ruin everything. He knows the OC Chief. They're friends. And he's been coming after me since day 1.
So?
So, if he connected me to BAP and then you to me. He'll realize who you are and expose you unless…
Unless?
Unless he wants something from you.
A bribe? Come on, what would he want?
I'm not sure, I'll look into this, just don't do anything about it yet.
Don't do anything? What do you expect me to do with so much riding on this?
I expect to see you at the grounds looking like a happy camper for now.
You're the worst.
Back at you.
"Ready to go?" Sang Hee grunted as she dragged her suitcase across the living room floor.
Himchan tucked his phone away before staring at her dubiously, "We're at the camp grounds for two days in a lodge with a fully functioning…everything. How much stuff did you bring?"
"Just the essentials." She huffed before setting it down next to his.
He shook his head with a snort and took the handle, "Let's go, we'll be late."
"What are doing? It's heavy. Let me carry it myself." She argued with a frown.
He tossed his duffle bag at her and held the door open with his foot, "Judging by how much you just struggled dragging this thing 10 feet, I don't think you'll make it to the garage."
She slung both their bags over her shoulders and followed him out, into the garage and watched him load the suitcases easily into the trunk.
Her eyes softened slightly. The Himchan from two months ago would've made her carry her own suitcase…and probably his as well, "Thanks."
He glanced up at her while shutting the trunk and stared straight at her, his brow quirked, "Any time."
"You're totally soft for me, aren't you?" She snorted, breaking the tension.
He rolled his eyes and walked to his side of the door with a scowl on his face, "This is why I don't do nice things for you, tiger."
"Oh come on," She teased while getting into the seat next to him, "You love it."
His fingers stilled around the wheel as he stared straight ahead of him. He didn't speak for a moment, his mind lingering on her words before he started the car up.
"Maybe I do." He mumbled while pulling out of the garage.
Sang Hee gaped at him, her eyes boring into the side of his face as he pretended not to see her staring at him.
"W-What?" She stuttered out, her heart racing suddenly.
He shrugged nonchalantly, "Maybe I like doing nice things for you. It's not really a big deal."
Sang Hee opened , ready to shoot something back at him, but nothing came out. She stared at him without realizing how red her cheeks were as she hastily looked away when Himchan glanced her way.
Himchan's lips quirked up when he saw her chewing on her lip thoughtfully while staring out the window with a serious look in her eyes.
This trip was going to be fun.
-----
"I can't believe this." Dong Chul mumbled as he followed Himchan and Sang Hee into their cabin.
Sang Hee rolled her eyes and tossed her stuff on one of the beds, "Stop being dramatic."
"How can Woon make the two of you share a cabin just because you're partners!" He exclaimed with a pout.
Chin Hwae swung his arm around his friend, "It's not like this the first time that they're living in a house together."
"This is the first time they're sleeping a few feet away from each other! Plus, it's not like Woon knows that they live together but he didn't even care when he gave them their key." He fired back.
Himchan pulled his jacket off and plopped down on his bed with his eyes pinned on Sang Hee who was scanning the interior of the cozy cabin. Her eyes ran over the wooden panelling until they locked with his.
Her lungs felt like they were constricting when his piercing eyes grabbed hers. She gulped, surprising herself with the speed her heart was going. Sang Hee cleared and looked away, wondering what was happening to her.
"They seem fine with it. Why are you so worked up?" Chin Hwae teased, knowing of the younger officer's affection towards Sang Hee.
Dong Chul huffed while crossing his arms over his chest and looked away with a slight blush. Himchan's brows knit together as he inspected Dong Chul's face and ignored the strange discomfort churning in his stomach.
Dong Chul seemed to really like Sang Hee.
Himchan wasn't sure why that thought wasn't sitting right with him.
And Chin Hwae noticed the uncomfortable look on his friend's face but like the many times before, he stayed silent.
A knock on their door got their attention as Chief Woon stuck his head in with an overly bright smile and a pair of shades perched on his head.
"Hurry up and get changed guys. Time for our first activity."
Himchan and Sang Hee found each other's eyes and shared an unamused look. "What's the activity?"
Woon grinned and pulled his shades over his eyes.
"Rock climbing."
-----
"Oh my god." Sang Hee muttered in shock as she stared up at the tall structure built in the middle of the field.
She took a shaky step back but collided with something warm, stopping her from backing away any further.
She tilted her head back and froze when Himchan looked down at her, raising her brow, "You okay, crazy?"
"U-Uhh… y-yeah." She said shakily while looking back at the dauntingly tall climbing wall. It wasn't the height that was freaking her out so much as the fact that the only thing that would keep her from falling 15 feet was a wire.
A wire that could snap or come undone while she was suspended mid air.
Himchan gave her a strange look until Woon clapped his hands for their attention and stood in the middle of the crowd with a megaphone held up to his lips.
"Being partners means more than just having each other's back in cases. It means helping each other through the ups and downs. It means not being too prideful that you can't ask for help. And most importantly it's not just seeing the other person as someone you work with, but as a life line. Someone you can always depend on. So today we're going to put that to the test." He said with a grin.
Himchan let out a disgusted noise that only Sang Hee could hear, "Look at his smug little face. I bet he couldn't get a foot off the ground."
Sang Hee laughed, momentarily forgetting the tremors in her muscles.
"Himchan, were you just telling Sang Hee that you two wanted to volunteer?" Woon asked with narrowed eyes.
Himchan grinned at the Chief, "No, but I think I heard Chin Hwae saying something about it."
Woon glanced over at the two boys who shrugged, "Sure we'll do it."
"I'll climb the out of that wall." Dong Chul said challengingly while taking off his jacket.
"Don't think you've won yet Himchan." Woon said while pointing at him.
While Dong Chul and Chin Hwae were getting strapped in, Sang Hee shifted off to the side and leaned against a tree trunk and closed her eyes, trying to calm the dizziness in her head from continuously looking at the towering wall.
She did not sign up for this.
"You look like you're about to throw up, tiger."
She peeled open her eyes and glanced over at Himchan who was standing in front of her with his hands shoved in his pockets. He noticed her sneaking away and contemplated just leaving her alone, but there was something about the way her shoulders fell and her body trembled that just drew him to her.
She groaned and slid down to the ground and hung her head, "I'm fine."
He chuckled and followed her down, crossing his legs so that their knees were pressed against each other.
"Lie better."
She shot him a glare before looking down at her fingers in defeat, "Being suspended in the air, isn't exactly my favourite pass time."
"Are you scared?" He blurted out in surprise.
He didn't think anything scared Sang Hee, especially something as trivial as rock climbing.
Her vicious glare made a reappearance before she harshly knocked her knee against his, making him hiss in pain, "Ow, , okay, sorry. I just…I just didn't see that coming."
"I'm not scared. I just rather do trust falls or something trivial. Who goes rock climbing as a team building exercise? Woon doesn't know what he's doing." She huffed.
Himchan didn't catch the smile that was growing on his lips as he watched her pout. He reached out and zipped up her sweater so that it was pulled up to her chin before tugging on it until she met his eyes.
"You'll be fine. You'll be strapped in better than a baby in a car seat." He said before letting go of her sweater.
She scratched the back of her neck, "I know that I'll be fine. Like logically and statistically speaking
