Himchan and Dong Chul stood, immobile, as police officers rushed Sang Hee, roughly grabbed her and pinning her to the ground to cuff her while others checked the status of the victim.

Dong Chul stumbled back and shook his head, "I-I don't--"

Himchan could only hear a loud ringing in his ears as he stared at Sang Hee's legs, the only part of her that he could see over the crowds of officers.

It was like everything in front of him was warping into a distorted mess as he tried to calm himself down. This was his Sang Hee.

His tiger.

There had to be another explanation.

Suddenly the officers started yelling and running around, finally breaking the two of them out of their trance.

"You two. Over here!" The lead officer called while pointing to them.

Himchan and Dong Chul felt like they were trekking through quicksand as they moved towards the officer. Himchan tried to get a look at Sang Hee, but her face was blocked by all the officers who were forcing her to stand up.

Himchan couldn't hear a single thing, it was like he was underwater and there was water in his ears.

"This isn't going to be easy but we need you to indentify the victim for us." She said quietly.

Dong Chul close his eyes with a wince, "I--why--I don't…Why do we need to identify them? Why would you think that we know who it is?"

"Because we think we might have an idea who it is. We need you to confirm." She said softly.

It didn't sit right with Himchan that the officer's voice became soft and her eyes were filled with tenderness. Officers don't talk to each other like that unless it was something bad.

Himchan glanced back at Sang Hee, who was being escorted closer to him. Her head was down but the blood was still evident on her face.

He didn't like that she wasn't fighting back and claiming her innocence.

She was just taking it.

"Over here, men."

He turned back and walked over to where all the officers were crowded around as the medics rushed to the scene.

Himchan and Dong Chul watched as the body was turned over to reveal the bloodied face. Even in its disfigured state, the boys knew right away.

"No, no, no." Dong Chul chanted quietly under his breath. He took one last look before he turned over and vomited only to nearly collapse if it wasn't for an officer standing nearby to help him.

"Is it?"

Himchan nodded as his vision swam in front of him. He couldn't even hear himself speak as the words stumbled out of his mouth.

"Y-Yeah. That's Chin Hwae."

-----

Sang Hee turned her head and looked over her shoulder when she heard Himchan say Chin Hwae's name.

She craned her neck and stared not at him, but at Chin Hwae's limp body that was being lifted into the back of an ambulance.

She wondered if he was dead.

No.

If he was dead he would've been taken away in a body bag, not an ambulance.

Sang Hee was being lead to the car that was going to take her away but she kept her gaze over her shoulder until they slid over to lock in with Himchan's, who had been looking straight at her. She stared at him emotionlessly before a cynical laugh left , making his frown deepen.

Oh, what a day.

-----

"How is he?" Dong Chul whispered as Himchan handed him a cup of coffee at the precinct where Sang Hee was being questioned.

Himchan rubbed his face, "I got off the phone with one of the officers that are standing guard at his room. He's in a coma. They don't know when he's going to wake up. He had a lot of trauma to the back of his skull. They're watching his progress but it's up in the air right now."

It was probably the hardest phone call he ever had to make and it was hard not being at the hospital, but there was so much going on and so much happening that Himchan was barely getting a grip on it all.

"Oh my god. I can't believe this." Dong Chul breathed out as he held his head in his hands. "I can't believe that she'd do this to him."

Himchan frowned at his friend, "We don't know that she did."

"Are you kidding?" Dong Chul blurted out as he snapped his head up at him, "Were you at the same crime scene that I was or did you just forget that Sang Hee was standing over his body, covered in his blood. I don't think that was exactly a misunderstanding."

Himchan shook his head, "You don't know her. She wouldn't do something like that, especially to Chin Hwae. There has to be an explanation and there has to be more proof."

"There is but I don't think it's what you're hoping for." Chae Mi said as she walked over to them with a file.

Dong Chul stood up, "Do you have more details?"

"I do, but I don't think you guys will be happy about it."  She said while handing them the file. "I got a chance to look at the wounds on Chin Hwae's head, the weapon and the blood splatter over her clothes and they all match up. There are fibres on the pipe and embedded in Chin Hwae's skull that match her sweater and the strength of the blows match someone of her height and build. The trajectory of the blood splatter match up with her proportions as well. I don't know what to say to you guys but the evidence is pretty damned."

Dong Chul held the sides of his head, "Holy . I can't believe this. I can't believe she'd do this."

"I've been in this business longer than the both of you and I've learned one thing." Chae Mi said giving them a knowing look, "People will always surprise you."

Dong Chul looked at Himchan when Chae Mi walked away. "Do you really think that she's innocent now? I don't want to believe it either but what else are we supposed to think?"

"We're supposed to trust her. We're supposed to know that she wouldn't be capable of something like this." Himchan said firmly.

Dong Chul looked shocked, "He could die, Himchan. Are you really saying that no one should be held responsible for that? After seeing him in the hospital after he got shot, seeing him go through a surgery that he might not have made it out of and seeing him struggle with the after math of not being able to display any emotions, you think that no one should be blamed for him being in a ing coma?"

"I-I don't know! Okay? I don't ing know. You're right. This is someone's fault, but you can't expect me to blindly accept the fact that the same girl who blamed herself for the Park's death is the same girl who would beat Chin Hwae to near death. Beat him. That's not something that someone with an easy guilty conscious does. So I'm just trying to scramble for something because the story that everyone's trying to paint just doesn't make sense." Himchan boomed.

Dong Chul shoved his hands in his pockets, "None of us thought Jaehyun was a threat either but he ended up being Ryu's brother. Secret motives are not something that people at this precinct are unaccustomed to."

"Well, she's not like Jaehyun, she's not like Ryu and she's not like Woon, so what the hell does that make her?" He asked weakly.

Dong Chul's face twisted in confusion before it melted into a look of sadness. "15 years is a long time to be out of someone's life."

Himchan looked bewildered as he stared at his friend, "What?"

"Sang Hee told Chin Hwae about how you two know each other and he told me about it when we found out that you two were dating. 15

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
