"I know things are crazy and we don't have a lot of answers but we're doing whatever we can to figure out what's going on." Himchan said over the phone to Sang Hee's father.

Her father sighed wearily, "I just don't understand. None of this is like her. She would never do any of this. She's an honest, loving, righteous girl."

"I know. That's what's stumping all of us." Himchan said as he stared at the baseball hat on his desk.

"You're dating her Himchan, you've been with her non-stop. Do you have any idea what could've made her do this?" Her father asked, upset.

Himchan opened his mouth but struggled when nothing came out. "We got into a fight that night. I left and when I came back she was missing and then I got the call."

"It doesn't make sense. Even if you both fought, why would she attack Chin Hwae and then escape?" Himchan winced when he heard the pain in her father's voice.

He fisted the hat and sunk in his chair, "I don't know, but I swear I'll find out and I'll protect your daughter."

-----

Just as Himchan hung up the phone, the doors to the precinct swung open and both him and Dong Chul shared a disgusted grunt.

"She's not here if you've looking for her." Dong Chul said defensively, "Your client escaped, shouldn't you be trying to get her back instead of harassing us?"

Hong's typical cocky smirk was nowhere to be found as his eyes locked in on Himchan. "I'm not here for her."

"So then what're you here for?" Himchan spat acridly.

Hong's eyes landed on the baseball hat on Himchan's desk before he slipped his hands into his pockets.

"You."

-----

"Why are you here?" Himchan barked.

Hong shook his head dramatically, "You really are the source of everyone's problems. Everyone I talk to and everyone I work with seems to have a problem with you, Kim Himchan."

"Sure seems that way." He mumbled.

Hong paced calmly back and forth with his arms behind his back, "If you just told people that you were a member of BAP then none of this would be an issue and you could live your life without a giant Achilles heels that all your enemies are aware of."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Himchan said stiffly.

Hong chuckled, "Why are you still lying about that? I'll admit, it took me a while to be sure, but after a few experiments, I got my answer. You and Woon really did a job covering your tracks. Hasn't lying about it caused you enough problems?"

"Experiments?" Himchan asked in confusion.

But Hong just smiled, "Yongguk's connection plus all of your little friends together against Ryu. It made sense. So your identity wasn't a far leap. Who would've thought that trying to live a normal life,  without the gang activity, would be harder that you running around murdering people ?"

"Don't you have an escaped client that you should be concerned about?" Himchan asked, trying to resist the urge to clock Hong across the face.

The attorney stopped pacing to look at a picture of Himchan and the precinct before Sang Hee had joined that was hanging on the wall, "That's why I'm talking to you right now."

"What does my past have to do with her?" Himchan asked, visibly irritated.

Hong turned and face the officer, "You're looking in all the wrong places, Kim. If you want to help your friend, and I know you do, you should probably stop looking at your past for answers."

"Wait…do you know who is involved with this and who's been antagonizing me and her?" Himchan asked with wide eyes.

"Possibly, but I would never breach my attorney-client privileges. I'm a lawyer and I hear and see all sorts of things and let's just say that it wasn't the first time that I've seen the names Kim Himchan and Lee Seon put together." Hong said with an amused look.

Himchan gave the man a look, "Lee Seon? You mean the name that was on Ryu's visitation sheet?"

"I'm not too concerned with the status of my missing client. That girl of yours is smarter than any of us think, Himchan." Hong said while jumping subjects.

He felt his fingers curled into a trembling fist. He knew that from seeing the man in court that if Hong was done talking about something, he was done with it.

There would never be any going back and getting him to elaborate.

"I'm aware of how smart she is."

"Well then, in that case you should hurry up and find her…before she does something you'll all regret." He said while walking past the detective, to the door.

"If you knew about my so-called past, why didn't you tell anyone? Why didn't you tell the Chief of the OC unit? They've been after Woon and BAP for a while." Himchan called out.

Hong kept his back turned and smirked to himself before walking out the doors.

-----

Himchan walked out of the conference room behind Hong who turned and gave him a nod before striding out of the office.

Rubbing his eyes, Himchan turned to go to his desk until Dong Chul reached out and grabbed his arm, stopping him.

"I-I don't know what's going on with Sang Hee. This whole thing is messed up but  seeing Hong here pissed me off."

Himchan blinked at him before nodding, "Yeah,  me to--"

"Find her." Dong Chul hissed through his teeth.

Himchan's eyes widened in surprise, "Wait what?"

"I don't know what you have to do or how you have to do it, find her. Find her before the other officers do because she might still have a chance if you get to her first." Dong Chul said quietly.

Looking stunned, Himchan shook his head, "But I thought you believed she was guilty. That you wanted her to pay."

"I still do but seeing his smug face is making doubt everything. You were right, Sang Hee's our friend, there has to be an explanation." Dong Chul muttered while glaring in the direction that Hong left in.

Himchan looked lost, "She could be anywhere Dong Chul. How am I supposed to track her down? And even if I do, how am I supposed to get her to listen to me?"

"You love her, you'll figure it out." Dong Chul pleaded.

Himchan's face twisted, conflicted until Dong Chul uttered his last words so quietly that Himchan almost missed them.

"Do it for her. Find out if she's innocent and bring her back if she is."

-----

"Hey, Minseok I need your help. Can you get your men t--"

"No."

Himchan stopped mid step, "Excuse me?"

"I heard about your girlfriend going haywire. I'm not helping you, man." The merc said off handedly.

Himchan ran a hand through his hair, "Minseok, what the hell? I've saved your so many times, you owe me."

"I know and that's why I'm doing this." Minseok said calmly.

Himchan felt his lip twitch in annoyance, "What the are you talking about?"

"If you want help, go ask someone who will actually help you. You spent the last few years living your life right, don't go back now." His friend advised.

"This is my girlfriend's life on the line."Himchan growled.

Minseok wasn't fazed, "Which is why you shouldn't be calling me. You want to be a man that she would be proud to call hers. You got into this whole mess because you hid your past from her. A past you're embarrassed about. Don't come back to us, man. I know it's not going to be easy, but you need to do this right. You know Yongguk would say the same thing because when this is all over and done with, you don't want to have to hide the resources you used to save her. You don't want to have to go back to square one. You don't want to disappoint her again."

"I can't believe you're doing this to me right now." Himchan breathed out as he unlocked his car.

Minseok chuckled, "Trust me, you'll thank me for this later."

"How am I supposed to do this?" Himchan asked as he his car and pulled out of the parking lot.

Minseok made a sound of uncertainty, "I don't know. You believe that she's still the same girl, so where would the girl that you fell in love with, go if she got the chance to escape?"

-----

Sang Hee waited at the drop point which ended up being at a train station near Seoul.

With the amount of people who were milling around, it wasn't easy for her to keep herself hidden away from prying eyes. She lost her hat so all she could do was adjust her hood and pray that the no one was suspicious of the lump in her sweater that looked a lot like a gun.

Her heart started racing when she felt her phone buzz , the instructions for whatever else was next for her.

She answered the blocked call and was met with a robotic voice that she had heard too many times.

"In 24 hours I'll send you more instructions. You're next task is to stay hidden until then. You get caught, you get screwed. I don't care what you do, but don't break character and don't let anyone know what's really going wrong or else I'll ruin Himchan myself."

Sang Hee closed her eyes, "When will this end?"

"When I say it's over."

She didn't bother replying and just hung up before sitting down on one of the benches in front of the train tracks.

24 hours.

That actually be the hardest task so far.

Killing 24 hours as a fugitive was basically asking her to throw in the towel now and just give up. She had nowhere to go and she couldn't risk anyone she cared about seeing her because they might turn her in since her face was making its rounds on the local news.

So she had to wander around for 24 hours and remain undetected.

She frowned as she mulled over her options.

It didn't make sense.

Whoever was ordering her around clearly didn't care that much about their plan. Why else would they risk letting her idle with no instructions for 24 hours.

Anything could happen in that time and she could do anything in that time.

They didn't care who she spoke to or who she went to, as long as she stayed in her sociopathic character.

But that just didn't make sense.

Why go through all the trouble of blackmailing someone and helping them break out of prison only to leave them to their own devices between missions when they could possibly screw everything up?

"They want to use you to

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
