Sang Hee was laying on her back on the hard, stiff cot that was built into the wall of her cell.

She stared at the cracked cement, counting each dent, water spot and crack as she struggled to fall asleep. She swung her leg back and forth as it hung off the side of the cot.

Over the course of her short career, she had sent so many people into these confined rooms but she had never been in one herself.

Until now.

After leaving her very informative meeting with Hong, they sent her here for holding. She'd only be there for 24 hours before being transported to another facility until the charges were officially pressed.

Then it'd just be a countdown until the trial.

And that would be a whole mess itself.

She slowly raised her arm up and stared at the porcelain skin before she used her other hand to pinch her skin. She dug her nails in and pressed as hard as she could, until the flesh turned an angry red before letting go.

She stared at the bruised and hummed to herself.

Yup.

She couldn't feel a thing. She felt so numb that she was pretty sure that if someone cut her arm open, she wouldn't even notice.

"You shouldn't be down here." She mumbled under her breath.

Himchan walked up to her cell and stared at her lounging body, "I don't give a damn. Not until you ing talk to me."

"What do you think I'm doing right now?" She said, distractedly while staring at her arm.

He stepped closer and leaned against the bars, "I'm losing my mind because you, tiger. Everyone believes you did this and the more I try to fight it, the more I feel like I'm turning my back on Chin Hwae because you're not fighting this and you've given me nothing to help protect you with."

"It's fine." She said simply. "My lawyer will protect me."

Himchan watched her stare at her arm before sighing, "Your lawyer. Hong? A few weeks ago you told me that you knew he was a snake. Now you're trusting him with your life?"

"A lot has changed since then." She replied smartly.

Himchan was at a loss. He knew that talking to her would just be talking in circles because the girl was determined not to give him the answers he wanted.

But he just wanted to see her and be the slightest bit closer to her.

He figured that as long as she was talking to him, even if it wasn't what he wanted to hear, it would be better than her closing herself up and ignoring him.

"Why Hong? Of all the lawyers you could've hired?" Himchan asked as he watched her pinch her arm, hard.

Sang Hee grit her teeth together as she squeezed her skin, "Because he knows what I'm going through. He knows what I'm feeling and what I'm fighting. He's going to help me."

"Do you remember back in the orphanage when you'd get scared at night and come find me?" Himchan said suddenly.

Sang Hee let go of the skin on her arm and stared at the blossoming red bruise without saying anything in response.

Himchan didn't care.

"You used to sneak into my room and climb into my bed because you were scared to be alone. Sometimes I think you thought that I wasn't awake, but I was always awake. Hell, some nights I waited for you before I fell asleep. I don't know what it was. Maybe I liked being wanted and I liked being someone that you felt safe with. Or maybe I was just as scared as you were to be alone. Either way, it was the best part of going to sleep." He said while watching her drop her arms to stare at the ceiling.

He gingerly wrapped his fingers around the bars and squeezed it, "I think I was in love with you long before I knew it."

"I'm being transferred tomorrow to the Seoul detention center. So say all the romantic things you want now, because I'm going to be far away." She admitted without looking at him.

Himchan stiffened, "Why? You're supposed to stay here."

She shrugged, "My lawyer made it happened."

"You need to stay away from Hong. He doesn't care about getting you acquitted. He just wants to take this precinct down." Himchan growled.

Sang Hee stayed silent before swinging her feet over the side and standing up. Himchan felt his heart stop when she looked at him for the first time.

He couldn't recognize her.

"Would that be the worst thing?" She asked while stepping closer to him.

His eyes took in her jumpsuit, "Right, I almost forgot, we're corrupt."

"You are." She reaffirmed.

Himchan gulped as he searched her eyes, "So that's it? I don't have a shot with you?"

"Would you even want one now?" She snorted.

He chewed on his bottom lip, "If I didn't walk out on you that night we fought, would things have been different?"

"No." She replied quickly, "I think this would've happened eventually but there's a chance that it might not have been Chin Hwae on the other end but don't feel guilty. Whoever it would've been would still be just as bad."

She watched as his eyes dropped and stepped closer to the bars that divided the two of them until they were inches away from each other.

"After all this, does it matter? Wouldn't you rather pretend that you never knew me? That you never loved me?" She asked.

Himchan let go of the bar and stepped back, wanting to keep a distance, "I don't know, tiger. A part of me really, really hates you because of what you did to Chin Hwae. I feel like I can't even go visit him because it was my girlfriend who put him there. But you're still the first woman that I fell in love with and that won't ever change. And I don't think I want it to change because the last few months with you have been mind blowing. I just don't know when we started to fall apart."

The sound of a door opening in the distance caught Sang Hee's attention, causing her to crane her neck to see if anyone was coming.

And when she looked back, Himchan was gone.

------

The next day, Himchan and Dong Chul stood in front of the precinct and watched as Sang Hee was led to the truck that was transporting her to the new penitentiary.

"She doesn't even look like the same girl." Dong Chul muttered while shaking his head.

Sang Hee looked over her shoulder, locking eye with Himchan before sending him a wink.

Himchan winced, ignoring the pain and betrayal in his chest and shook his head before turning away, "I can't watch this."

-----

Sang Hee propped her legs up against the wall while throwing a small sponge ball up in the air, counting each throw in her head.

She was at 25.

Her newer cell was slightly bigger, but just as cold and empty.

"26."She whispered as she caught the ball in her hand.

"Uniform."

She turned her head slowly and watched as the warden opened a small window and slid a folded jumpsuit through to her.

"We'll be back to pick up your used one." The warden called before she moved onto the next cell.

Sang Hee stared at the suit before sluggishly rolling over and picking it up. She set it down on the cot and started ping her jumpsuit when she heard the sound of something buzzing.

She paused before slowly opening the jumpsuit to find an old, outdated cell phone tucked in the cloth. She looked around before picking up the cell phone and answering the call.

"Good job. I'm impressed."

Sang Hee winced when the loud, distorted voice echoed in her ear.

"How did you get this phone into a ing prison cell?"

"Don't worry about how I get things done. You just need to prepare for the next step. You did exceptionally well for the first one."

------

Sang Hee watched, tears spilling down her cheeks as Himchan stormed out of the apartment, the door slamming loudly behind him.

Her head was pounding and she could feel her heart breaking in her chest.

He didn't need her.

He looked her in the eyes and said that he didn't need her.

How could he say that?

Sang Hee groaned and held her head when she felt her phone buzz on the floor. She wiped her face before answering the call.

"What?" She barked angrily, too frustrated to check the caller ID.

Her anger melted into a look of confusion when she heard a deep, distorted voice chuckle, "I'm guessing you got the envelope I sent you? How did the conversation go with the killer you're sleeping with?"

Her eyes widened as she pulled the phone away from her ear and stared at the screen that yelled the word BLOCKED at her.

"Who is this?" She whispered.

The voice sighed in annoyance, "It doesn't matter. We don't have a lot of time. So I'm going to need you to listen carefully. I'm going to text you an address. There you'll find the body of someone who I've killed. You're going to pick up the weapon that I've left near the body and splatter their blood on you and wait until the cops find you..and then, when they ask what you've done, you're going to say that you killed someone."

"Are you…are you kidding me right now? I'm a cop. I can have your sorry arrested and in jail before you even hang up." She threatened.

The mechanical voice tutted, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."

"Try me." She growled before grabbing her jacket.

But just as she was about to storm out of the apartment and to the precinct, the voice cut her off, "I know who he is. I went through great lengths to get those pictures of BAP's hitman. If you don't do exactly what I say or go to one of your cop friends for help, I will

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
