Sang Hee stared at her plate of food, aimlessly pushing her food around her dish as her colleagues spoke excitedly around her.

She looked up at Himchan who was seated across from her with a glass of beer in his hand. When they left the penitentiary, Chin Hwae called them, telling them that Woon was holding a fancy precinct wide dinner and that they had to go.

Himchan lifted his glass to his lips when his eyes flickered to hers ,before he could take a sip, he set it down and resisted the urge to reach out and touch her.

Because , the tension was too much.

He knew that she believed him when he said that he didn't visit Ryu but the fact that someone had used his name seemed like it had struck a nerve with both of them.

"Himchan?" Sang Hee stuttered out when Himchan silence surrounded her.

He shook his head while looking up from the log, "I don't know what this is. I swear."

"You don't know how your own name got on this list?" She balked while grabbing it from him.

Himchan frowned while shaking his head, "No, this couldn't be me. My handwriting is different plus 2 weeks ago, me and you had dinner with the guys."

"So…so there's another Kim Himchan? What are you talking about?" She hissed.

Himchan ran his fingers through his hair, "Someone must've used my name because that isn't me."

"Why would someone chose your name? You're barely connected to Ryu." She asked.

Himchan gave her a look, "Because I'm a cop and I swear to god that I never ever came here before today."

"How did they make it passed security?" Sang Hee asked in confusion.

Himchan shrugged, "It depends. If their real ID had clearance to make it this far, then they could've just used their own ID to get passed security but then signed the log with my name so that they wouldn't let a trail for anyone who looked at the log. That or they had a fake ID with my name and their picture."

"What about Lee Seon. Who is that?" Sang Hee mumbled.

Himchan shrugged and pulled out his phone to take a picture, "I've never heard that name before. Someone pretended to me, maybe someone pretended to be this Lee Seon person."

"So he lied." Sang Hee breathed, "He's had visitors all along, he was just playing dumb and stringing us along. Who knows what they've been meeting about."

Himchan tapped one his phone, "I'm sending this to Chae Mi, I'll have her trace it, since the others are busy. She might even be able to pull medical records if she gets a hit."

"What do we do?" Sang Hee asked fearfully.

Himchan looked at her before kissing her head, "We'll be fine. Don't worry. We know something they don't. We had a lead."

Chin Hwae plopped down next to them and leaned closer, "So how was the doctor?"

"What?" Himchan asked in confusion.

Chin Hwae tilted his head, "Didn't you miss work because you had to go to the doctors?"

"Oh, yeah. It was fine. He said I was healing up really fast." Himchan mumbled before taking a sip of his beer.

Dong Chul slid in next to Sang Hee and offered her some food, "How are your parents?"

"Good, yeah…it was nice catching up with them again." She said while looking down at her own food.

Chin Hwae's eyes jumped between them, "Did something happen? You two seem down."

"Yeah." Dong Chul agreed, "You two are acting really different."

"We're good." Himchan said, looking at her, "Right?"

She looked up at him, her demeanour softening when their eyes locked, "Yeah…we're really good."

-----

Sang Hee and Himchan were starting to finally loosen up and joke around with the others when the restaurant door opens and a man strode in.

"What are you doing here?" Woon hissed.

Attorney Hong smile breezily as he scanned the crowd, his eyes locking in on Sang Hee and Himchan seated in the back, talking to each other. His lips quirked up when he saw Himchan reached out and fix a strand of Sang Hee's hair.

"I just came to pick up my take out. But it's such a nice surprise to see my favourite precinct hanging out together. You all seem to be in a good mood. Celebrating something?"

Himchan's grip on his glass started to tighten to the point where his hand was trembling. Sang Hee trapped his ankle between his and tugged on it, to get his attention.

"Calm down." She said softly.

He grunted in response as he distracted himself with another sip.

"Just having a nice dinner with the team. Nothing for you to worry yourself about. Don't you have a trial to lose?" Woon asked while some of the detectives hid their snickers.

Hong smirked, "Say what you will. You're the one that's blind to everything's that going on around you."

He locked his eyes with Himchan, his smirk growing, "A lot of shady things can happen right under his eyes."

"That's it." Himchan said under his breath after slamming his glass down. He stood up and tossed some money on the table before nodding at Sang Hee. "Let's go."

She sighed and stood up, following behind him, subtly her palm down his back, "Himchan."

"We're going to call it a night." Himchan said, tilting his chin at Woon.

Hong chuckled, "So soon? I hope I didn't have anything to do with it."

"Go die." Himchan growled while walking past him and out the door.

-----

"Classy." Sang Hee snorted as they waited for the valet.

Himchan rolled his head, cracking neck, "You should be proud of me. Telling him to die is a step up from me actually making him die."

"Poor you." She cooed while leaning her head against his shoulder.

Himchan chuckled and kissed the top of her head before she stepped away from him, "You know, Hong's kind of an ."

"Yeah? I hadn't noticed." She deadpanned before walking up to the curb and looking around for their car.

Himchan walked up beside her, "If you weren't there, I'm pretty sure I would have squeezed that glass so hard it'd shatter in my hand."

"And then you'd stitch up the cut wounds yourself, let it get infected, pass out and then get yelled at by Youngjae." She sang.

Himchan narrowed his eyes at her, "You're not going to let that go, are you?"

"Don't hold your breath." She joked while rubbing his back.

Himchan sighed as his muscles loosened, he loved when she did that because it would unknot every tangle in his body, "Why does everything you do feel so good?"

"Because it's me." She said with a wink. "I'm amazing."

He leaned down as her hand dropped from his back and just as his eyes closed, a gust of wind hit him and when he opened his eyes, Sang Hee was standing 6 feet away from him.

"What are you guys still doing here?"

Himchan closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, "Praying that we're not."

"You know, I made the weirdest discovery today." Hong said while swinging his bag of food.

Sang Hee rolled her eyes, "You realized that your heart doesn't beat?"

"I realized that the two of you visited Devlin Ryu in prison…together."

Sang Hee and Himchan froze before they turned to Hong, "Excuse me?"

"I went to see my client before I picked up dinner and was surprised to see two new names on the list." His voice no longer held his previous amusement. "Why were you two there?"

"That's none of your business." Sang Hee snapped.

He raised his brow threateningly, "As his lawyer, it is my business. What did you talk to him about?"

Himchan narrowed his eyes, "She's not going to repeat herself."

"Fine, but you better watch yourself. If I managed to find out that you were visiting him, I wonder who else could." Hong said menacingly.

Himchan smirked, "Thanks for the concern. You're so sweet. But while we're on the topic, why were you visiting your client? He isn't getting parole, isn't your job done?"

"I like to follow up with my clients. I'm just a caring person." Hong said casually.

Himchan rolled his eyes, "Ridiculous."

"You guys think that you're ahead of everyone else, but you're always 2 steps behind. If you keep poking your nose where it's not supposed to go, you're going to get hurt."

Sang Hee looked unswayed, "Is that a threat?"

"You know, Himchan, if your car is taking so long to come up, maybe I should just drive Ms. Bae home." Hong offered.

Himchan let out a laugh, "Over my dead body."

"Watch what you wish for and besides, it's not like you guys live together, so it's probably out of your way to drive her all the way to her place since I'm guessing it's not close by.  Not to mention, there are a few things that I'd like to talk to her about."

Himchan's fingers fisted, "Then talk to her at the precinct."

"For two people who have no special relationships and are just partners, you're really protective of her, Himchan. She's an adult, she can make her own decisions and I highly doubt she needs you to protect her.  You're not her boss.  So, why don't you let the woman speak for herself?" Hong taunted.

"Do--"

"I'll go." Sang Hee said abruptly.

Himchan gaped at her, "You'll what?"

She shot Himchan a look and smiled tensely at Hong, "Thank you for the offer."

"Of course, I'll walk you to my car."

She turned to Himchan and leaned close to him and whispered, "I'll make him drop me off at my old place. Come and pick me up in 15

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
