Sang Hee paced around as she tried to understand the situation, "Wait she shot Chin Hwae because you guys questioned her about something. She was a suspect."

"Yeah…she was."

"I swear to god, she'd ing insane." Chin Hwae said with a frown as they left Lee Seon's house.

Dong Chul nodded enthusiastically, "She was so twitchy and nothing she said added up. She kept changing her story. We're coming back for her right Himchan?"

He turned to his left and frowned when the new officer was no longer next to him. He looked up and saw him walking ahead of them with his hands in his pockets and his head tilted to the side.

"From a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you think he hates us?" Dong Chul muttered as he trailed behind Himchan with Chin Hwae next to him.

His friend tapped his tap in thought, "I'd say a solid 5.5, I'm sure he's just like that because he's not used to us. We just need to wear him down!"

"Man, if he wasn't so cool, I think I'd hate him." Dong Chul pouted as Chin Hwae laughed beside him.

Chin Hwae swung his arm around Dong Chul's shoulder, "You, my friend, sound like you have a man crush on him."

"Idiot." Dong Chul said with a laugh as he pushed his friend away, making him stumble away a few steps while chuckling as well.

Then it all happened so fast.

None of them heard the sound of the door from the house they were walking away from, open until a voice yelled at them.

"Hey, s!"

All three of them turned, but only Dong Chul registered the gun that was pointed straight at Chin Hwae. On instinct, Dong Chul tried to push Chin Hwae away but she had already fired the bullet and just as he grabbed his partner's arm, the bullet hit him in the head.

Chin Hwae's head snapped back on impact and he immediately crumpled to the ground along with Dong Chul who was screaming while trying to help his friend.

2 years.

Himchan had spent 2 years with a clean record, distancing himself from his violent past.

But when he saw Chin Hwae on the ground and their suspect whose name he already forgot, aiming her gun at Dong Chul next, it was like it all came back.

His muscle memory reactivated.

And it told him that his family was in danger and that he had to fight back.

So he did.

In one swift move, he pulled his gun out of its holster and discharged one clean bullet through the center of her forehead before she could pull the trigger on his friend.

His friend.

But that's not where he stopped.

As he moved closer to her dead body, the rage that he managed to suppress all these years, resurfaced and he couldn't hold himself back.

No one.

No one.

No one hurts his family.

He continued to fire at her body until Dong Chul left Chin Hwae to stop Himchan for unloading the rest of his weapon on the woman.

"Stop." He whispered quietly while staring at the woman who had holes in her body. "We need to get Chin Hwae medical attention."

The rest was a blur.

He watched, immobile, as Chin Hwae was taken away, currently in life-threatening condition, that he didn't notice one of the responding officers staring at him with burning hatred when he heard a call over the radio about a shooting right in front of his fiancée's house.

Himchan didn't notice the amount of anger that was making the man tremble when he found out that his one true love died at the hands of another officer.

An officer that he was going to destroy.

"I remember that. She charged you guys out of aggression." Woon said calmly.

Sang Hee rubbed her eyes, "Why were you interviewing her? What did you have on her?"

"Everything except murder, man. She robbed banks, she stole cars, she trafficked drugs and sold immigrants into trade. I'm sure there would be more in her file." Dong Chul said while shaking his head. "But she had her tracks covered so well that we didn't get a lead on her until Namjoon's guys managed to connect her to a cartel they were investigating."

Sang Hee's eyes darted back and forth as she tried to piece everything together, "But what does she have to do with Minsoo? And why would he use her name to get into the prison? If she's dead, than who went in with him?"

"Wait, Minsoo?" Dong Chul gaped.

Woon let out a scoff, "Minsoo wasn't even on that case. It's a bit of a stretch to connect the two of them, don't you think?"

Sang Hee waved her hand, "There has to be a connection. He has a grudge against Himchan so there has to be a reason for that."

"You know…if you're suspecting Minsoo, he used to always warn Himchan never to fall in love." Dong Chul said slowly as he picked up on the context of the conversation.

Sang Hee's body stilled before her eyes zeroed in on Dong Chul, "Why?"

"He used to say something about how a broken heart was the strongest weapon to use against someone or something like that and since you are..." He trailed off as he glanced at Woon from the side of his eyes.

Sang Hee her lips, "So you think he's using me against Himchan because he lost someone he cared about?"

"By that logic, it would have to be someone that he lost because of Himchan and since Lee Seon seems to be at the center of all of this…" Woon said, humoring their hypothetical scenario.

Suddenly a knock on the door, broke them out of their spell and Sang Hee darted back around Woon's desk, hiding behind it with her gun at the ready.

Woon cleared his throat and opened the door to reveal a man he had never met before, "Can I help you?"

"Hi, nice to meet you, my name is Kim Seokjin. Jin for short. I'm the head forensic scientist over at the DSU."

The Chief blinked at the tall man before frowning, "What can I do for you?"

"Oh…I thought he told you. Namjoon asked me to come through here to help on an on-going investigation." He said calmly.

Dong Chul scanned the man before nodding, "I've heard of you. You're one of the best forensic guys in the district. What case did Namjoon send you here for?"

"Something involving another officer from here. Bae Sang Hee, I think was her name. Apparently she assaulted an officer that was close friends with Namjoon and when he heard about it, he wanted me to give it a look. I'm sorry, I thought he asked your permission." He said pleasantly while adjusting the glasses on his face.

Sang Hee knew what Namjoon was doing, he probably couldn't believe that she'd go after Chin Hwae especially when he knew about her parents, so he was sending in his own guy to find out the truth.

Even from Japan, Namjoon managed to be nosy.

She couldn't hide the fact that she was still grateful for the extra help, even if it didn't amount to much.

Woon glanced back at the desk Sang Hee was hidden behind before looking back at Jin, "Right well, we aren't exactly opening this case up to outside help."

"I understand." He said formally, "But Namjoon insisted that I look through some of the evidence. He claimed, and I quote, there's no way she'd go that bat insane overnight."

Woon looked at Dong Chul who nodded, simply because Namjoon was their friend and it was clear he didn't believe Sang Hee was capable of this either.

"You can head downstairs, our medical examiner should be in to help you with what you need." Woon said while pointing him in the right direction.

The man bowed before walking off. Woon closed the door just as Sang Hee stood up from her hiding place.

"Did you have anything to do with that?" Woon asked suspiciously while pointing at the door.

Sang Hee rolled her eyes, "No. We need to find Himchan because he could be in danger if we don't do anything soon. Maybe he can give us insight into why Minsoo would have a grudge."

"You don't know where he is?" Dong Chul asked, concerned.

She shook her head, fear finally evident on her face. "No and if I'm right about Minsoo, he's probably in danger."

-----

"That name doesn't sound familiar at all, Minsoo." Himchan said before Minsoo's fist came colliding with his jaw again.

"You shot her. You shot her right outside that door." He yelled furiously as Himchan spat out more blood.

Himchan looked past all the furniture that was covered in plastic tarps that were coated in a layer of dust and at the door.

They were in a house.

A house he didn't recognize.

"Jesus Christ, is this her house?" Himchan blurted out as he looked around before his eyes widened in recognition. "Wait…was Lee Seon the woman who shot Chin Hwae?"

Minsoo leaned down and met his eyes, "And she should've killed him, too."

"I only shot her because she was a threat. I was doing my job." Himchan hissed out.

Minsoo's face twisted into a look of disgust, "Himchan's going to be the hero even though Himchan should be the villain. I'm the hero. I'm the one taking out the bad guy. He's the villain."

Himchan's eyes twitched in concern when he heard Minsoo refer use his name while talking about him.

"I don't get it. Lee Seon was a criminal. She wasn't just some innocent civilian that got caught in the cross fire." Himchan fired back.

He didn't flinch, "I don't care what you have to say. You're the real criminal. You were born and taught to kill and you used that on her. No real police officer would shoot a suspect through the head. Only a trained killer would. Only you would."

"I shot her because she tried to kill Chin Hwae and Dong Chul. I would've done the same thing no matter who I was in the past." Himchan's voice was pained with fatigue but he didn't give in.

Minsoo looked disappointed, "You and Woon are both the same. Just filled with excuses."

"You helped her, di

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
