Sang Hee stepped out of the change room, dressed in a grey t-shirt and a pair of basketball shorts, while tying up her hair.

Saying that she was excited was a bit of an understatement.

She was about to spar with one of the most skilled officers in the 565 precinct. It was her first day and she was already going to learn from the best.

Back at her old position she didn't do a lot of technical training on the field so she was willing to take any sort of advice that she could.

She was pumped.

She spotted Himchan standing in the middle of the gym, with his back turned to her as she started to rotated her shoulders to loosen her muscles.

"Pssst. Sang Hee!"

The girl turned to the bleachers and gaped when she noticed the two men that she first met when she came into the precinct, waving at her.

"Uhh…"

"Fighting!" The short one cheered while the other one stared blankly at her while waving.

She gave the boys an awkward smile before walking up behind Himchan. He was dressed in a muscle tank and a pair of sweatpants with his hands on his hips.

Just as her sneakers screeched against the laminated gymnasium floor, her new partner turned around to face her.

"Hi!" She said with a cheerful smile.

Himchan stared at her with narrowed eyes and a tense jaw. His eyes scanned her clothes before they landed on her face. Sang Hee shifted awkwardly on her feet, waiting for him to say something but he just continued to stared at her.

"So wh--"

"I'm going to let you know now, that I don't like you."

Sang Hee's bright smile stared to fade into a look of confusion and shock as Himchan glared at her.

What the hell?

"I'm sorry, but wh-what?"

"I figure we should clear the air and make sure we're on the same page. Other than Bulldog hyung, I've never had a partner and I'm in no need of one either. To me, you're just an annoyance that I have to deal with."

Sang Hee cleared and tried to give him a sheepish smile, "But you haven't even gotten to know me."

"I don't plan on getting to know you. We work together. That's it. I tried talking Woon into transferring you again but he won't bite, so we just need to tolerate each other."

Sang Hee felt her jaw drop. He tried to get her fired on her first day? What was wrong with this guy?

She was at a loss of words and she was trying to decide whether to keep her politeness together or give this a piece of her mind.

Who was he to try to get her transferred?

"So keep in mind that I'm not your friend. I'm not your confidant, I'm not the person you call to help you move your furniture in, I'm your partner, so don't try to make our relationship something that it's not." He said condescendingly.

She felt her eye twitch. What the hell was this guy talking about?

There was no way that this prick was her idol. The respect she once had for him was dwindling at an alarming pace with every word he said.

Himchan raised his brow when she didn't respond. That's exactly what he needed, a dumb partner. "Have I made myself clear?"

Sang Hee gaped at him before clenching her teeth. "Crystal."

Dong Chul and Chin Hwae were too far to hear the exchange but Dong Chul was still cheering for her.

"Okay then." Himchan said while cracking his neck. "Let's start."

Sang Hee watched him in apprehension as he crouched down in a predatory stance, the look in his eye changing into a murderous glint.

"Where do you live?" He asked her suddenly.

Sang Hee looked a bit taken back. She thought he said that he didn't want to get to know her. He gave him a suspicious look, but tried to match his stance.

"I just moved into an apartment in the west side of Hon--Ahh!"

Sang Hee groaned when Himchan grabbed her waist and slammed her into the ground. She winced, grabbing the back of her head before glaring up at him.

Himchan cocked his head, "You can't get distracted. You think if your chasing a suspect , that they'll just put their hands in the air and wait for you to find them? You need to be diligent. One second can get you killed."

Sang Hee clenched her teeth and heaved herself up off the ground, "Okay."

Himchan wanted to laugh at the way she glared at him. He was sure that in her eyes she probably felt intimidating and scary, but in reality, she looked more amusing.

Like a grumpy cat.

"What was your old unit?" Himchan asked as he pulled a sweat band up his forearm.

Sang Hee took a deep breath, "Organized Crimes."

Himchan froze.

Organized Crimes was the unit that focused on all illegal gang activity and it used to be Woon and his dad's old unit. If it wasn't for Woon's inside help, B.A.P would've had some close calls with Organized Crimes.

B.A.P were no strangers to the OC unit.

And now his partner was from that un--

"!" He grunted when his back hit the ground.

He opened his eyes to see Sang Hee climbing off of him, standing up with a proud smile. His eyes flashed with annoyance and irritation when he realized what had happened.

The newbie pinned him.

"Holy ." Dong Chul gasped from the stands. He grabbed onto Chin Hwae's arm, "She's so strong. She's perfect. The complete package. I think I'm in love."

Chin Hwae watched Himchan's face darken. "Yeah well, your love doesn't look like she'll be alive for much longer. Looks like Himchan just switched on"

And like that, Sang Hee's proud smile begin to falter when she saw the death glare that was piercing through her from Himchan.

Ahh .

"U-uuh…I didn't mean to hurt you." She gulped when he slowly stood up, like a lion sizing up its prey. She could almost see the hunger for blood in his eyes.

Suddenly she wished she didn't knock him down, she should've played more timid and defensive.

She doubted that a superior, yes technically he had more experience than her making him her superior, would like it if the new kid pushed them around.

She watched in horror as his jaw clenched, his eyes burned and his muscles tense up as he crouched his back predatorily.

He chuckled darkly, "Oh, you actually thought that hurt me? Don't get ahead of yourself, newbie." His voice didn't sound as forgiving. "You can't hurt me that easily. But at least now that I know what you're capable of, I don't need to hold back."

She just screwed herself.

-----

She wasn't wrong.

Sang Hee let out a pained groaned as she collapsed on the ground 30 minutes later. She shouldn't have eaten all that fried chicken the last night because she felt so out of shape.

Her t-shirt was three shades darker than it was because of the amount of sweat that was soaked into the fabric.

And she was positive he was being rougher on purpose, just to teach her a lesson about besting him.

Himchan wouldn't consider himself a petty person but he made sure he put more force after every hit. No one pins him down and he wasn’t going to let his partner think that she was stronger than him.

Or that she could overpower him.

Sang Hee closed her eyes and panted. Even though she was able to keep up for the most part,  it still and it sort of pissed her off too.

Was his ego really that big that he was going to get pissy just because she took him down once? Weren't mentors and partners supposed to challenge each other?

"How to do you feel?" Himchan asked as he pushed his sweat drenched hair out of his face.

She didn't want to sound disrespectful, but she ing hated the fact that he still looked good. if anything, it annoyed her. There was cockiness radiating out of every goddamn pore.

"Hey." Himchan frowned and nudged her foot with his own. He didn't want to break his partner this early. There was time for that later.

"I asked you a question."

Sang Hee closed her eyes, trying to endure the feeling to rip his head off his shoulders and tilted her head and blinked at him tiredly.

"How do I feel?" She mumbled. "Like death."

He smirked. Actually smirked. And she felt her eye twitch, he was really testing her patience.

"Good." He said proudly. "Now get up and get changed. We got a case. Let's see if you can keep up."

He turned to walk away before glancing over his shoulder.

"Oh, and welcome to the 565, newbie. Let's see how long you can last."

-----

Sang Hee came out of the changing room 15 minutes later feeling every inch of her body numb in pain.

She was limping and sore as she dragged her bag only to see Himchan leaning against the wall, staring at his phone, completely re-dressed. Compared to her, he looked like he just woke up from the most peaceful sleep and spent 2 hours getting dressed.

Sensing her presence, his eyes flickered up to her before standing up straight.  "Took  you long enough. I thought you died." He said, sounding bored.

She shot him a tense smile, trying not to show her annoyance or her surprise. She didn't expect him to be so outwardly mean. He was acting like she stabbed him in the stomach or something.

It wasn't her fault that putting on her jeans was the most painful experience in her life. She walked over to him giving him a chance to pick up on her awkward walk.

He snorted as he watched her waddle. "Are you really that out of shape that a 30 minute workout is leaving you that stiff? I've seen pregnant women with more stamina than you."

She grit her teeth at his condescending tone and tried to appear pleasant. Why was he so damn rude? What did she ever do to him?

"I just don't normally work out in the mornings." She muttered.

"By the looks of it, you don't seem to work out at all. Do you know what a treadmill is?" Himchan said with a smirk.

She couldn't stop the scoff that left . Himchan raised his brow, his smirk slipping off his face, and step up to her, threateningly, "Oh, I'm sorry, do we have a problem?"

Sang Hee felt her politeness break as she glared at him. "I don't know, do we?"

Himchan matched her glare, unwilling to back down. He was a bit taken aback by her sudden brazen attitude and it left him unimpressed how easy it was for her to talk back.

He didn't need someone else getting in his w

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
