"You'll be transported to the precinct for further questioning today." Hong said as he met privately with Sang Hee at the prison.

But Sang Hee knew that she'd be transported.

She'd been counting down to it.

"When?" She asked softly.

Hong stared at her, his cold eyes scanning her face, "In an hour. Would you like to know the condition of the little detective boy that you put in the hospital?"

"No." She hissed through her teeth.

"They say it's touch and go. He has made no progress which isn't technically a bad thing but it isn't a glowing endorsement of health either. The first 48 hours are the most crucial and that just passed." He said while closing his folder, his eyes watching her every move.

Sang Hee's eyes were hardened over, "I thought I said No. A lawyer needs to do a better job of listening to their client's requests." She stood up, ready to leave, when he stopped her.

"I'd like to remind you that you are not to say anything until I'm present. They'll try to break you using the friends you made there."

"I don't have friends." She said plainly.

Hong's eyes remained on her before looking back at his notes, "Well I do. I have a lot of friends, Ms. Bae. Especially within all of your precincts, so I don't care what you do. I'll still win."

"With or without me?" She asked she slowly raised her eyes up to meet the man whose had her life in his hands.

He tapped his expensive pen on the table, as if he was mulling her question over before he grinned a shark like grin.

"With or without you."

-----

Himchan hadn't gone back to his apartment since Sang Hee was arrested.

He couldn't bear to go back and see all her things and realize that there might be a chance that he had no clue who he was living with or who he was sleeping next to.

He didn't want to go to bed and miss having her beside him.

And it was a reminder that the one time he had given in to being weak for a woman might have been a mistake.

"I can't go back there, man." Dong Chul croaked as he walked into the precinct.

Tensions had fallen over the two of them as well. Both of them were conflicted, wanting to trust Sang Hee, but Dong Chul was more hesitant towards defending her than Himchan was.

So they often found themselves tip toeing around each other whenever they talked about the situation.

Himchan watched Dong Chul sit down, "How is he?"

"He looks dead, Himchan. He doesn't move, his skin looks grey and he needs to be fed through a tube. It's horrifying." Dong Chul rasped out as he set his forehead on the table.

Himchan shook his head in disbelief, "He never catches a break."

"They said that he still hears what we say to him so it's good that we go visit him and make small talk, even if he can't respond. Are you going to visit him?" Dong Chul asked curiously.

Himchan let out a dry laugh, "And say what? Sorry my girlfriend might have beat the crap out of you? Sorry that I couldn't shoot and kill the girl who was coming after you?"

"You owe him that much." Dong Chul said with a frown, "You need to at least see him and tell him that you're there for him."

Himchan stared at him for a long time before sighing, "You're right. You're right."

"But I guess you should be going later." He pointed out.

Himchan raised his brow, "Why?"

"Sang Hee's coming back." Dong Chul said quietly.

Himchan's eyes widened as he stiffened, "She is?"

"She's being interrogated again by some of the department Chiefs. It's a big deal that another officer…turned out like that."

He dug his fingers into his thigh as he heart did that thing again.

That painful thing where it would constrict so much that his chest would hurt and his lungs wouldn't be able to do their job.

Pretending to look busy, he just replied with a nod before  tapping at his computer. Dong Chul saw the way Himchan's jaw tightened and sighed in guilt.

"I'm sorry, Himchan. Maybe you're right. Maybe there is an explanation."

The older man acted like he couldn't hear the pity in Dong Chul's voice and sent him a tight lipped smile, "Don't apologize to me, I'm not the one that we should be worrying about. Give Chin Hwae your sympathies, not me."

"I wish she could see him. I wish we could take him to the hospital and show her what she did to him." Dong Chul said with a shake of his head.

Himchan didn't say anything, not wanting to start a fight between the two of them.

"I've been doing some thinking." Himchan said quietly, his voice catching Dong Chul's attention. "After this goes to trial and the verdict comes out, I think I'm going to move."

"Move?" Dong Chul asked, stunned.

Himchan nodded, "I think I need to get out of this city and this precinct."

Luhan had done it and after having a conversation with the man, Himchan was starting to think that maybe he should've done the same thing too.

He saw the way Minseok had become after staying in the same place despite the pain. It just ate at you until you were nothing but a pile of bones. Luhan managed to make it out.

He had spent so much of his life forcing himself to adapt that maybe what he really needed was to be as far away from the place of his past as possible.

Yongmi and Eun Ah were doing well and the other boys were on their way to a bright future, they didn't need him to hang around anymore.

Luhan was a lot like him in many ways, so maybe, instead of being delusional in thinking that he could actually make it work in Seoul, he should just start again, from scratch.

"B-but… but what if she's innocent?" Dong Chul said frantically.

He looked down at his tie, the one that she gave him and closed his eyes.

"Then I don't know."

-----

Sang Hee's eyes darted around neurotically as she was led into the back of a transport van that would be taking her to the precinct.

She watched as two guards stepped into the van and sat next to her.

Her heart was racing as the door to the back of the van was slammed and locked shut, confining her to the small space with 2 guards and one driver.

She eyed their belts, scanning each object hooked onto them.

"In the pocket of the new jumpsuit, I've left the key for your handcuffs. Once you're in the van, free your wrists. You're a cop, I'm sure you'll know how without alerting the guards."

Keeping her eyes on the guards, Sang Hee raised her arms up, pretending to mask a cough and spit out the key that she hid under her tongue, into her palm.

Her eyes darted between the two guards who were staring off to the side. She quietly slid the key into the lock and masked the clicking sounds with another round of coughs.

When she felt them unlock, she set her wrists on her lap, subtly rotating them to loosen the open cuffs, before waiting 10 minutes, just like she was told to do.

"The guards will be carrying tazer and gun. You have to be quick. You need to knock out the guard closest to you and taze the one further from you before they draw their gun. The rest is up to you to make it out alive."

Sang Hee fisted her hands as they trembled with nerves and took three deep breaths before moving at the speed of light. In one swift move, she shook off the cuffs and grabbed the guard's tazer before pressing on her pressure point, making her crumble.

Just as the other guard raised his gun, Sang Hee pointed the tazer at him, two needles shooting out and clipping onto him while electric shocks hit him and watched his body spasm before he fell over, twitching.

"What the hell is going on back there?" The driver boomed as the van swerved.

Sang Hee pulled one of the guns out from one of their belts and checked the rounds before unlocking the dividing gate between her and the driver.

She pointed the gun to his head and leaned down, "Pull over or you'll end up worse than them."

The driver glanced at the radio and his gun but before he could make a decision, Sang Hee pulled the radio out from its holder and ripped it out of the system, tossing it behind her and pulled out his gun and emptied the chamber.

"How about now?" She whispered darkly while cocking the weapon.

The driver gulped and pulled over to the side of the road. Sang Hee took the keys out of the ignition before smiling at the driver.

"Thanks."

And then she slammed him in the back of the skull so that he passed out over the wheel.

"You'll then have 4 hours to make it to the next drop point. I'll text you the address and then we'll go from there".

-----

"What's taking the transport team so long?" Himchan muttered while spinning his pen.

Dong Chul looked up from his desk and frowned, "Maybe they changed the time, I know that the higher ups are trying to keep us out of the loop because we might have a conflict of interest because of our relationship with her."

"Still." Himchan mumbled under his breath. The brief moments he'd get, seeing her through a crowd of officers, was becoming the high points of his day.

And his days didn't have many of those recently.

Himchan stood up and wandered towards Sang Hee's desk which had been empty for the last few days. He noticed the small plant on her table was dying as he sat down on her chair.

It was driving him insane with how often he'd look up, hoping to see Sang Hee sitting at her desk, furiously typing away or pouring herself over a case file.

"What are you doing? No one's supposed to touch her things until internal affairs searches everything." Dong Chul whispered in panic while looking around to make sure no one saw them.

Himchan ignored him and pulled opened her drawer. He did a double take when he saw the friendship bracelet she had made for herself sitting on top of her belongings.

God, those were simpler times.

"We really shouldn't be doing this." Dong Chul said under his breath as she bounced around nervously.

Himchan shook his head and closed that drawer before opening another one. He shuffled through her things when he found a photograph.

He turned it over and fell silent when he stared at a picture of Sang Hee and Chin Hwae. She was grinning brightly with her cheek pressed up against his but his face was blank and emotionless except for the peace sign he was making with his fingers.

Dong Chul stopped fussing when he saw the pictures and felt himself soften. He walked over to Chin Hwae's desk and shifted through some of his stuff before finding the exact same picture.

"Hey." Dong Chul called out while holding up the picture to Himchan who looked up.

Himchan sighed and felt his shoulders slump, "They were really close. It doesn't make sense."

Dong Chul looked at the picture sadly and shook his head. "I don't know."

The two men jumped when the loud yelling echoed through the office as officers ran back and forth screaming orders at each other.

They shared a confused look until Himchan grabbed one of the officers who ran by him, "What's going on."

"She's gone." The officer said breathlessly.

Himchan's brows furrowed as the sinking feeling in his stomach worsened, "Who is?"

"Sang Hee…she escaped."

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
