"Ridiculous. Absolutely, utterly, stupidly ridiculous." Youngjae said as he pressed an ice pack to Himchan's face as he tended to the rest of the bruises.

It was one thing to want Himchan to come in for a patch up, but it was a different thing to have one of his colleagues come to his office and tell him that a pair of detectives were coming in for serious medical attention straight out of a hostage situation.

And he didn't know why his gut was telling him that the two detectives were his best friend and his girlfriend.  

His gut was never wrong.

"I can't believe all of this happened and none of us knew. You didn't tell anyone." Youngjae muttered while he dusted his hands.

Himchan hissed as Youngjae prodded his eye. "It was my problem, so I was going to fix it with my own people."

"Eun Ah's going to throw a fit, that's for sure."

"Leave me alone." Himchan grumbled in pain while leaning his back on the cot while the ice in his hand successfully numbed his face.

Youngjae stared at his friend before shaking his head and turning away, "So I stopped by and checked on your girlfriend earlier."

Himchan sat up with a start and stared holes into his friend, "How is she?"

"Better than you, although she popped her eardrum in her left ear because of the bullet that went off near her head. So she'll be temporary deaf in that ear but it shouldn't last that long. Aside from that, she had a few bumps on her head but nothing too severe. She'll be okay." He said while flipping through some papers.

Himchan sat silent for a minute before clearing his throat, "Can I go see her?"

"Sure." Youngjae said casually, "She should be ready to leave anyways."

Himchan stood up and was about to leave before Youngjae looked up and stopped him, "Can I ask you something first?"

"Hurry." Himchan said impatiently.

Youngjae spun his pen on his finger, "She knows about us and she still stuck around because she saw something in you. Do finally think that maybe you're a good person?"

"No."

Youngjae frowned and opened his mouth to retaliate, but Himchan cut him off, "No, but I think that if I'm with her and if she's by my side, I could find myself believing that I could be human, you know? Someone I would be proud of."

Biting back a smile, Youngjae looked down at the files in front of him, sure, it wasn't a huge statement of confidence, but hell, it was a start.

And that's all Himchan ever needed.

A start.

When Youngjae looked up a second later to tease the man, his friend was nowhere to be seen and his door was swung wide open.

Shaking his head with a laugh, Youngjae picked up his phone and called Jongup and Junhong.

"He doesn't even deny it anymore. They're totally dating."

Sang Hee was fiddling with the piece of gauze that was taped over her deaf ear as she waited for Youngjae who told her that he had some papers that he needed her to fill out.

She paced nervously as she tried to adjust to being only able to hear through one ear.

Himchan and her were ripped away from each other at the crime scene as they both needed medical attention and had to give their statement to the police. She hadn't seen him since she said that she loved him and she had to admit that part of her was nervous about seeing him.

After everything that happened, she felt like the both of them had become different people.

So when the door creaked open, her eyes widened and her heart stopped beating.

Himchan slipped through the door and shut it behind him before meeting her eyes. She froze in her spot when he let out a loud groan and walked up to her before wrapping his arms around her.

"God, you drive me insane." He muttered into her good ear and squeezed her tightly to his chest, doing what he could to make her feel safe.

Her eyes began to water and her lips began to quiver as she hugged him back and rubbed her face against his sweater, familiarizing herself with the warmth and the scent.

He kissed the side of her head as she clutched onto him tightly. "I don't deserve you." He mumbled.  

Sang Hee dug her nails into his back as she get out a broken sob, everything she had gone through in the last few days, finally broke her down.

It was okay, now.

They were okay.

And he was in her arms.

Everything was okay.

"Thank you." He whispered in her ear, making her shiver, "Thank you for saving me."

She nodded against his shoulder as he pulled her closer to his body and swayed her gently from left to right.

"I'm sorry for everything I put you through but you're so strong. I love you so much." He said as he squeezed her.

She pulled away and stared at him before cupping his cheeks, "I don't support what you did in the past, but I understand why you did it. All I care about is who you are now and how incredibly happy you make me."

"Tige--"

"I'm a good and honest person. I've worked my off my whole life so yes, I do deserve you."

"God."  He breathed out, his heart melting to the depths of his stomach as he stared at her, completely entranced.

She shook her head to fight back her tears, "I just want you to stay with me from now on."

"You scared me, you know." He said quietly as their noses brushed against each other, "I almost believed you."

She let out a breathy laugh, "Bull. You made it so hard because you were positive I could never hurt Chin Hwae."

"I was right though." He pointed out, making her smile.

Sang Hee tilted her head up and sighed against his lips before kissing him softly. Himchan's hands dragged down her body until they circled around her waist as his mouth worked ardently against hers.  

His palm worked under her shirt and lifted it as he slid his hand up her spine, relishing in the distinct warmth of her skin. Sang Hee tangled her fingers through his hair, goosebumps pebbling on her arms as she threaded through his soft strands.

One particularly sharp bite on his lip had Himchan hissing when it caused the cut on his lip to sting but when she tried to pull away in worry, he held her closer and lost himself in the taste of the woman who made him all sorts of crazy. He'd let her hurt him as much as she damn well wanted.

Losing his mind had never felt so good.

"Guys!"

The pair pulled away to when Youngjae came bursting through the door, "I don't mean to interrupt but you need to come to Chin Hwae's room. Now."

Himchan and Sang Hee had their hands laced together as they followed Youngjae who was a jittery, giggly mess as he led them to Chin Hwae's room.

"I can't believe this. I never thought that this would happen. We need to do tests but this is amazing." He gushed.

Himchan frowned and glanced at Sang Hee who looked just as lost as they stopped in front of a door. Youngjae knocked on it a few times until Dong Chul's voice welcomed them in.

Opening the door, he gave the pair a smile, "Go ahead."

"You look so creepy when you smile like that." Himchan muttered as he stepped into the room with Sang Hee in tow.

Dong Chul, who was hovering over Chin Hwae, spotted them and beamed brightly before stepping away to reveal Chin Hwae.

Himchan didn't think his heart would ever beat this fast for a man.

Why?

"Guys!"

Sang Hee's hand was covering and tears lined her eyes as her body shook. 

Chin Hwae was smiling.

"They're still not sure how it happened but apparently the surgery I had fixed the thin veins in my brain." Chin Hwae gushed happily, his eyes curving up into the most blinding smile in the world.

Dong Chul pinched Chin Hwae's cheek, tugging playfully on his skin, "Isn't he so cute? It's like we're back at the academy."

"Oh my god." Sang Hee breathed out as she stepped forward.

Chin Hwae blinked at her before grinning, "Your hair! Look at your hair! What did you do?"

"Chin Hwae." She said softly as she stepped closer to him.

His smile didn't leave his lips, "I heard what you did. You are one badass. Holy . I'm so glad I'm fighting on your side because I heard you went all Liam Neeson on everyone and scared the entire precinct less. That's one hell of an accomplishment."

She shook her head, stunned, "Look at you…you can smile."

"I can smile. I can finally show you guys how happy I am. You don't know how happy I am right now. I want to do it all, I want to cry, I want to scream, I want to yell, I want to get really mad at someone, I want to laugh at every stupid joke you tell me. I want to feel it all." He said enthusiastically.  

Sang Hee grabbed Himchan's shirt and dragged him with her as she walked straight up to Chin Hwae, "I don't know how to apologize to you now that it actually helped you get better."

"It's okay. I heard everything you guys had to say when I was in a coma." He looked at Himchan, "Everything and I'm okay with it. I love you guys and nothing will change that."

Himchan couldn't stop the smile that worked up his lips as he stared at Chin Hwae. "Get over here."

In a second, the room was filled with screams, groans and cheers as Himchan forced a kiss on Chin Hwae's cheek who was trying to fight him off.

"So what happens to you now?" Chin Hwae asked from his hospital bed as the others lounged around his room.

Himchan shrugged helplessly, "I'm not sure, all the officers that barged into the house saw the pictures of me. Chief Yoo and Woon are actually trying to vouch for me but the board is going to meet to decide on what to do with me now."

"It won't matter." Chin Hwae said with a scrunched up face, "First Jaehyun and now Minsoo and Chae Mi? They're not going to risk any more bad press by saying they also hired a ex-gang member who closed more cases than they ever could."  

Dong Chul shook his head, "I can't believe Minsoo was behind this whole thing."

"Sorry about that." Chin Hwae said softly while looking at his lap, "I'm the reason that Seon was killed and I shouldn't ha
