"To think that I ever trusted you guys." Sang Hee cowered down as Eun Ah paced back and forth, seething.

Himchan, on the other hand just rolled his eyes as he pulled out the cake that Eun Ah brought as he stood in the kitchen.

Yongguk just grinned while playing with Ah Young's hair. There was something intoxicating about his wife getting angry as long as it wasn't at him. Eun Ah pinched the bridge of her nose as she tried to calm herself down.

"I can't believe this." She breathed out.

"Stop being dramatic." Himchan called out from behind the kitchen counter as he searched for a knife.

She glared at him and threw one of Min Juk's toys at him and growled angrily when he caught it with ease.

"What?" He said back, "You're acting like we ran off and got married or something."

"It was just because my old place had mould and I had nowhere else to stay. We didn't think it would last that long. It was supposed to be temporary and we didn't want people to get the wrong idea so we didn't say anything." Sang Hee said pleadingly.

She narrowed her eyes, "What about the other boys?"

"Their landlord would've kicked them out and I didn't really know anyone other than them." Sang Hee explained guiltily.

Eun Ah stared at her before sighing and dropping down beside her. Sang Hee scooted closer to her and peered up at her, "Are you still mad?"

Eun Ah glanced at her from the side of her eye before letting her shoulders sag. "No, I guess not."

"Yay!" Sang Hee cheered before wrapping her arm around Eun Ah's. There was something about the older woman that made Sang Hee warm in her stomach.

She reminded her of what it would be like to have an older sister, someone who would fuss and worry over her. She always wanted an older sibling.

The girl scoffed, shook her head and looked over at her husband, "She's adorable."

Himchan's eyes flickered up and landed on Sang Hee who was grinning brightly at Eun Ah before he looked away. Yongguk picked up on his silence, knowing that Himchan was the type to make some dry comment about her not being that cute.

But he didn't.

Himchan tuned himself out of their conversation as he sliced open the container that held the cake. Everyone was acting very calm, especially after they explained the whole Channie-Haera debacle.

He was far from calm, though.

His mind was a hurricane.

He still wasn't sure where he or Sang Hee stood but all he knew was that he didn't want things to change drastically. He liked the pace they were going at and he knew that it would be wrong to suddenly change just because she was Haera.

Haera was from 15 years ago, Sang Hee was now.

At the end of the day, he couldn't be nicer to her just because of who she was before, he had to judge her based on who she was now.

Himchan almost jumped when he felt something warm press against his arm and stilled when Sang Hee peered over his hand, at the cake his was cutting, her body flush against his arm.

"What are you doing?" He asked as he stared at her.

Her attention was on the cake, oblivious to how struck he was with their proximity, "I felt third wheel-y so I came to bother you."

"Yay for me." He said sarcastically as he continued cutting the cake into precise squares.

She nudged his arm in subtle rebellion, making him cut the cake at an angle.

"God damn it!" He barked, trying to shove her away.

Sang Hee cackled as she watched him attempt to fix the messed up piece. He stared at the cake before glaring at her.

"Is it your job to make my life difficult?"

She grinned and moved closer to him, so that he could hear her whisper, "You're the  one that kept me on the team…partner."

Himchan closed his eyes and let out a breath before looking back at the cake. He gave up and picked up the ruined piece and held it out to her.

"Here, take the defected one."

He expected her to take the piece before thanking him, what he didn't expect was for her to eat it from his hand, her lips wrapping around his fingers as she bit into the cake. His eye twitched and widened as he watched her pull back and wipe .

"It's good." She said with a mouthful.

He gaped at her, his eyes scanning her face before clearing his throat, "Well it's store bought, so what did you expect? My sister wouldn't put in that much effort for me."

Sang Hee didn't reply as her eyes drifted over to Eun Ah and Yongguk who were cuddle together, playing with Ah Young and Min Juk.

"They really love each other." She said wistfully.

Himchan looked up at Eun Ah and Yongguk, a sight he was used to, before looking away, "The two of them have been through a lot. They're obsessed with each other. It's terrifying."

"That must be nice." Sang Hee mumbled as she stared at the couple, longingly.

Himchan heard the change of tone in her voice and looked over at her as she continued to stare at them.

"To be that in love with someone that you'd want them to be in every part of your life, even the bad ones. To trust them completely to know that they'd stick around knowing all your past. That must be amazing."

Himchan pulled his gaze from her and stared at his best friend and his sister, "Yeah…it must be."

"I read somewhere that falling in love with someone means letting them hold a knife to your chest and trusting that they won't stab you with it." She said it quietly.

Himchan laughed breathlessly, "That's ridiculous."

"Isn't it?" She agreed while looking at him, "Could you ever trust someone like that?"

He looked at the cake in front of him, "I don't think so. What about you?"

"I don't know." She said with a smile before snatching up another piece of cake, "I need to find someone who'd want to hold the knife first."

-----

"What are you thinking about?" Eun Ah mumbled, bouncing Min Juk in her arms while leaning her head against Yongguk's neck.

He wrapped his arm around her waist while Ah Young sat in front of him, eating the cake that Sang Hee and Himchan almost spent 20 minutes cutting together, "I'm wondering why that picture looks so right."

Eun Ah looked up, following his gaze to the 'picture' he was referring to and saw him staring at Himchan and Sang Hee who were standing too close to each other  while he showed her something on his phone.

They were speaking to each other softly almost as if they were wrapped up in their own world where only each other existed. Himchan scrolled down and pointed at something on the screen, making her laugh.

"They don't even know we're here." Yongguk said under his breath, "If we weren't family, I'd even think he was being rude."

She squeezed Min Juk while leaning forward, "You know what this means right?"

He smirked as he looked at her, "I think I do."

"It's time for us to give an unwanted helping hand."

" I love you." He growled before kissing the side of her head.

-----

"But you're happy right? Even the least bit about…us?" Sang Hee asked later on when they were washing dishes while Eun Ah changed her son's diapers.

Himchan stood next to her, washing the dishes and handing them to her to dry before looking up at the ceiling, "I look at you and I realize that there are a lot of things about you that remind me of  the old Haera. You're exactly the same."

"So?" She said with a frown.

He shrugged, "Well, I'm not."

"Neither am I. There's a lot you two don't actually know about me and that's okay. No one said that we have to go back to how we were 15 years ago. We'll do things our own way because we were fine all this time. What's the use in changing it?" She said while drying a dish and putting it away.

Himchan paused for a minute letting her words sink in. There were plenty of times when he'd see her eyes darken or her face tense. When she'd say something cryptic without bothering to elaborate. He vividly remembered the way she looked when she spoke about Jin Ah.

She was different.

She was resilient.

She was someone that, even before he knew she was Haera, had caught his attention.

"You're right."

-----

"Where's Eun Ah?" Himchan asked as he and Sang Hee found Yongguk sitting with Ah Young.

He nodded at Sang Hee's room, "She should be done with the diapers."

Himchan blinked at his friend before walking over to her room and swinging the door open. He stood by the door and stared at the bed where Eun Ah and Min Juk were curled together, her arms around him protectively, asleep.

"Uhh…dude?"

Yongguk lifted Ah Young in his arms and looked in the room as well, "Huh. She must've been tired."

Sang Hee peered over Himchan's shoulder, her eyes softening at the sight. Yongguk glanced at her from his peripheral before holding back his smile.

"Well, I'll go wake her up. You know with the baby and everything she's barely getting enough sleep so she'll pass out anywhere." He said while slowly stepping into the room.

Himchan narrowed his eyes suspiciously as he Yongguk took his sweet time approaching Eun Ah. Sang Hee chewed on her lip in thought before reaching out and tugging on Yongguk's elbow.

"Maybe she should keep sleeping. She gave birth a few weeks ago, she's probably worn out."

Himchan gaped at Sang Hee who was focused on Yongguk.

"Oh, I don't think we can just take over your room." He said kindly.

She shook her head, "Really, it's fine, you're both probably tired and your daughter is basically falling asleep in your arms. Himchan said it was a long drive to your house. It's really fine, I'll just grab some clothes and take the couch. You guys are more than welcome to stay."

Yongguk's eyes flickered to Himchan who was standing by the door, staring at them speechlessly, "Is that okay with you, Himchan?"

"I…I mean--" He looked over at Eun Ah whose arms tightened around her son, "Sure. I guess."

Sang Hee smiled at Yongguk, "Great. I'll grab my clothes and I'll be out."

He waited until she slipped into the room quietly before turning to Himchan, "She's a genuine woman, isn't she?"

"Well, she told off a victim's father for treating his child like garbag

Hi Loviet, I'm your biggest fans of your writing, I've read AnD first before the Home series, I love it so much that I've give it a go for Home, and ofc I still impressed of your stories. Few days ago I've comeback to Aff and start rereading all my fav stories, and surely again you will hear from me that you are so talented and thank God you are still writing! AnD left a big of impression to me because unlike Eunah and Yongguk, Himchan have it hard from the beginning, the character development of him trying to accept his past and start to be good for himself is beautiful. This is the man who rather see everyone around him happy but himself, the man who cares about other but neglect himself, the one who is so strong but choose to hurt himself more, thank you for giving chances to him. I could say AnD is the second best after RoD <3 thank you for writing, stay safe!
