She didn’t understand why he was so enthusiastic about visiting his parents’. It seemed completely random to her. But she didn’t mind, his parents were very pleasant. He always brought her along whenever he’d go since it was a long drive and he’d often stay over the night, he didn’t want to leave her for so long.
He was planning on dragging her there that afternoon, failing to see how much time a woman needs before meeting her boyfriend’s mother. It wasn’t that she didn’t like her; she simply wanted to look perfect for her.
“When you date a man, you date his family. That’s why…” she continued to explain to him why she was in a state of anxiety.
He nodded and hummed every now and then. He couldn’t really hear a word she was saying. She was submerged inside the piles of clothes in the bags. They usually kept only the clothes they wear often in the closet, the rest were kept in storing bags. She was currently raiding every one of them.
He tried to dodge a vest that was thrown at him, followed by a tie and a pair of denims. She finally resurfaced to cough. “You’re wearing those” she told him before diving back again. He couldn’t remember when he wore those last, probably during the time when…
“But I can’t wear those baby” she faced him again.
“Why not”
“Because those are the ones that you…you know, after we got back you…” he recognized that she understood when her eyes widened and her cheeks turned crimson, obviously thinking about last time’s event.
“I’ll just find some other trousers” she slowly opened another bag,

“What are you doing?” she gave him a glare as he was putting on a shirt. They were both trying the outfits she arranged, because it looks completely different on the body, she said. “That doesn’t look good at all. Take it off”
“But a white shirt and jeans is standard …”
“Now!” he sighed as he ed the shirt. She was way overstressing. “Pea or mauve?”
“Uh…what?” she sighed. What was it with men and having very limited color palettes?
“Green or light violet?”
“Violet baby” she nodded as she held the mauve dress against her body. She then folded it and placed it inside the small bag.
“Should I make some pie?”
“No”
“Cake?”
“No Suzy. We’re just going to visit”
He was starting to regret this. He should’ve just gone alone. What she didn’t know was that that visit had a specific reason. He wanted to ask for his parents’ blessing to propose.
