“Told you you’re getting old” that was supposed to be a joke to lighten the mood. She gave him a look as she squirmed further into the seat. Perhaps it wasn’t such a good idea to when she was holding his hand so tightly. He silently prayed he’d be able to move it after she lets go.

She had been complaining about her teeth aching for a while. He thought she simply ate something too cold or had too much chocolate. It was around the time she told him her gum bled when she brushed her teeth that he begun to worry.

He took her to a dentist, despite her arguing. She gave up when he threatened to drag her there. They sat in the waiting room for the past half hour. He promised her he’d hold her hand during the session, he didn’t think she’d tug on it as soon as they entered. He didn’t think she’d be tearing up when they didn’t even make it inside the room either.

“Do you think it’s decay?”

“I’m sure it’s not” she crooked her head. “It might be third molar, you’re in that age” she gulped, tugging on his hand harder. “Will I need a needle?”

“Only if it involves an operation” she cringed. “Operation?” he never heard her speaking in such a high pitch before. “I’m sure you won’t need that baby, they only do it when it grows horizontally or doesn’t fully surface” she nodded.

They both jumped when a loud screeching sound came from inside the clinic. She buried her face in his arms. “They’re just trying to expand the tooth socket. The patient doesn’t feel any pain love” The children in the waiting room were quite brave, either that or his girlfriend was petrified more than five years olds.

“Bae Suzy” the nurse called and he felt his knuckles slowly crashing under her grasp.

The dentist was really friendly and understanding. She was beginning to ease a bit, even though a stranger had his hands in , breaking every rule of sanitation she strives to keep. He was proud of her. She was so courageous; facing her fears, overcoming worries, even her hold on his hand was beginning to soften.

“Her wisdom tooth is emerging” he yelped at the horrible pain in his hand, the source being her sudden constriction. He tried to pull away when she sent him a glare. “We will need an x-ray but I believe it’s impacted. This will probably require surgery” she sent him another glare.
