Thirty eight

A package was delivered to their house at the afternoon, addressed from her mother. She was studying and she asked him not to interrupt. After around twenty minutes of staring at the box, curiosity got the best of him. He imagined she wouldn’t be upset if he opened it. He slowly made his way toward the box. He opened the wrappers to find a yellow dress. Her mother had a remarkable taste in clothes, but that piece was hideous

“Oppa” he heard her call out as she made her way downstairs.

He put the dress back into the box and wrapped it again. “Yes love?” she made her way closer to him, books and papers in her hand. He knew where this was going.

“I was wondering if you have the time maybe you could help…oh!” she pushed him aside to head to the box. “It arrived!”

“What is that?”

“Oh…well you see my cousin is getting married. I’m one of the bridesmaids, that’s my dress” she blurted. “Which reminds me… take a break from work on Monday, you’re coming with me”

“I am?”

She absentmindedly nodded “you must. I wonder how it looks”

“Why?” she looked up for a second, biting on her lip a bit. “Because…everyone will make fun of me if I go without you. I told her I want a lilac dress I wonder if she got it” she was struggling to open the box.

”Why would they make fun of you?”

“I can do with mint as well, or peach. Anything but yellow, I look horrible in that”

“Baby?” She looked up again, frowning a bit. “Back when we were younger, she used to tease me the whole time with her friends” she confessed. “But we’ve both matured a lot since…that wench!” his eyes shot open at her sudden burst. was open in what he imagined to be anger, as she raised the dress in front of her. “Yellow! Freaking yellow!”

He told her she shouldn’t go to the wedding if she hated her all that much. She told him she didn’t hate her, it was simply a silent competition. After he questioned her about it for some more time, she said it was ‘female things he wouldn’t understand‘. He decided to let it go.
