Chapter Forty

Faking Innocence

Taeyang stood by the window and watched as the sun rise from behind the mountains. He couldn't sleep with everything running through his mind. Running his hands through his hair, he sighed as he turned to plop down onto the bed. Closing his eyes, he let the sun rays shine against his face. Feeling the warmth of its rays allowed him a peace of mind to drift off to sleep.

It was the warmth of someone's body that awoken him from such deep slumber. Subconsciously wrapping his arms around the small frame, he groaned as he felt slender arms embrace him. "What time is it," he grumbled.

"Are you trying to sleep through our wedding day," Minzy whispered into his chest.

"I couldn't sleep until the sun came up," he yond as he tried to open his eyes.

"How come?"

"Because I can't believe we're finally getting married," he breathed. "It's happening," he couldn't help be grin.

"Who knew you were such a hopeless romantic? Especially with how much of a player you were," she teased.

Pulling her up so that they were laying side by side, he smiled as he cupped her face, "You didn't make it easy."

"I'm not an easy girl," she smiled brightly as she leaned against his hands. Turning her face, she kissed the inside of his palm, "It's time to get up."

"Five more minutes," he groaned as he grabbed her by the waist, pulling her onto him.

Giggling she couldn't deny the sleepy man his request, as she against his chest listening to the humming of his heart beat.

His heart was pounding and his palms were sweaty. He couldn't understand why he felt so nervous. Watching as each person came down the aisle, it had his stomach doing flips. "Are you okay," his best man whispered seeing the perspiration drizzling down Taeyang's face.

"I'm fine," he lied as he tried to not sound panicked. Turning his attention back down the aisle, he felt his heart skip a beat. Time seemed to slow down as he watched his handsome son proudly walk down the aisle ever so careful to not drop the ring that sat on the pillow he held. Grinning to himself as his son came to stand by his side, a sigh of relief escaped his lips. Suddenly the crowd were on their feet and that was when he felt his heart stop. It was as if something had pierced right through him when Minzy stood at the end of the aisle. She gracefully glided down the aisle on the arm of Se7en. Everything was better than he had imagined as he extended his hand out to her and she took it. Gazing at her through her veil, he grinned as he walked her up to the alter. There he turned to face her and pronounce their vows. Lifting the veil, he was in awe. Seeing the excitement and joy beaming through her eyes, he couldn't help but feel the same.

As the two stood facing each other, they recited word for word after the priest, "In sickness and in health..."

"And death will never keep us apart," Taeyang quickly took it upon himself to change the ending.

This caused a small up roar as the priest paused and people began to whisper amongst themselves. "...and death will never keep us apart," Minzy confidently said as she gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.

"You may kiss the bride," the priest quickly spoke up before the two could muster up any other changes.

"My favorite part," Taeyang smirked causing everyone to chuckle as he swooped in to kiss her.

The night was full of smiles and laughter as they danced and partied with their loved ones. Twirling Minzy on the dance floor and into his arms, Taeyang felt his heart flutter as she gave a mischievious grin and spun out of his grasp. Chasing after her, he stopped as she held her hand out to stay him. Wiggling her eyebrows up and down at him, she tilted her head down as the lights began to fade out. Taeyang was caught off guard, as he was led to a chair. Keeping his eyes on the young woman who stood as still as a statue, he watched with a smile as music began to play.

Minzy slowly began to sway her hips from side to side before abruptly stopping and extending her arms out. Popping her head up to look Taeyang in the eyes, she began to pop and lock into a tut. This had the crowd, along with Taeyang cheering and clapping along to the song. Nodding her head to the music, Minzy lifted her dress above her knees to add in a little bit of foot work. Swaying from left to right, she let the music take complete control. Gliding her way towards Taeyang, she danced around his chair before plopping down on his lap to plant a sweet kiss onto his cheek. But Taeyang took matters into his own hands and turned his face in the nick of time to meet her soft plump lips. It was a finale that had everyone cheering and Minzy giggling as she pulled away and had them both up on their feet dancing together.

Taeyang gave Minzy a lot of credit for booking a nearby hotel to leave for their honeymoon the following day. In his mind he thought it best to hop on a plane right after the celebration, but boy was he wrong. He was worn out as he face planted into the sea of blankets on the king size bed. Letting out a sigh of relief to be off of his feet, he didn't realize that his newly made wife was standing at the foot of the bed.

"Are you really going to sleep right now?"

"Just give me five minutes," he mumbled into the bed before turning to look in her direction. Slowly opening his eyes, he was stunned to see his wife in y white lingerie. Snapping up, he quickly began to remove his clothing, "Did I say five minutes? I meant five seconds!"

Minzy squealed as she was quickly lifted into the air, wrapping her legs around his strong stomach she laughed as he nuzzled into her neck, "I'm giving you five minutes."

He scoffed as he pulled away just enough to look her in the eyes, "Girl those five minutes are for warm up!" Smashing his lips against hers, he let his hands do the rest of the talking.

Slowly awaking to the sun rays beaming through the windows, Taeyang opened his eyes to the beautiful figure of his wife. Grinning at the thought of calling Minzy his wife, his eyes traveled the length of her back side to the tattoo that caught his eyes. Moving down to her lower back, his grin spread into a smile as he leaned in and kissed where his name was. "You're...officially...all...mine," he breathed in between every kiss.

"What time is it," Minzy hummed as she turned to face him.

Smirking as he came face to face with her front side, he couldn't help but bite the corner of his lip, "Maybe we should eat out...I mean eat in..."

Minzy couldn't help the chuckle that escaped her lips, "No, no. We have to get up now." Rolling out of his grasp, she yond as she stood onto her feet. "I don't want us to miss our flight."

Sighing, he followed behind her into the bathroom and hugged around her waist, "Then let's take a quick shower first?"

"Wow you are so needy," she teased as she stepped into the shower with Taeyang following in her shadow.

Stepping into the shower after her, Taeyang watched the water cascade down her back side. Enjoying the water fall view with his name plastered on her lower back, he couldn't help the feelings of wanting to be close to her as he wrapped his arms around her waist. Pulling her against his chest, he brushed his lips against her right shoulder. Grinning as he felt her relax against him, he was in heaven as he peppered her soft skin with his kisses. He could get used to the way she giggled as he rocked her in his arms before turning to gaze right back at him. Minzy's eyes burned with the desire and passion for him. Him. Such an odd feeling it was to have the girl he had been chasing after look at him the way she was looking at him right now. Descending down towards her, he was met with her wanting lips as he passionately kissed his new wife.

Taeyang was floating on cloud nine during his honey moon. Who knew Minzy was such a dare devil when she planned to go sky diving as well as parachute gliding. Not to mention the scuba diving or the hard hikes on uncharted trails. She was fearless he thought as she laid onto the harness and went flying down the zip line as if she was flying like some kind of super woman. A super woman indeed, as she squealed in excitement as Taeyang followed down screaming at the top of his lungs.

Taeyang rolled his eyes as they ate ice cream cones by the shore line. Minzy was teasing him for how he screamed down the zip line and to his defense he said it felt like he was slipping out of the harness. Finishing up his ice cream, he reached down to the water and splashed her as she was trying to eat. Gasping in shock from the cool water, Minzy stood on her feet and kicked water at him. Suddenly the two were play fighting to see who could splash the other with more water until Taeyang rushed into her and carried her over his shoulder. This had Minzy squealing and laughing as Taeyang mocked her for screaming and laided her in the sand before hovering over her. As much as he wanted to further, she looked so beautiful with how the last rays of the sun light hit her face. She looked as if she was glistening angel smiling up at him.

"What," she breathed with a bright smile.

Propping himself up with his one arm, he used his free hand to cup her face. Seeing how she leaned into his grasp and how her face hit perfectly in his hands had him sweeping down to capture her lips. "You're beautful and I can't believe you're all mine."

"First of all, you're mine not the other way around," she teased as she kissed him possesively. Taeyang chuckled as he kissed her back, knowing very well that was true through and through.

While Taeyang was preparing for bed that night, he noticed Minzy writing in what looked like a journal. "Are you writing about how hot I am and how you're living a dream come true?"

His teasing had her rolling her eyes as she grinned, "No, I'm writing to our son."

Our son. The sound of them sharing something so special had him smiling. He was a father to a son from a woman he was so deep in love with. Though it was still a lot to wrap his head around, he liked the sound of "our son." Plopping down next to Minzy, he nodded to her writing. "What are you writing to him?"

She shrugged as she stopped writing to look over at Taeyang, "I'm writing him letters of love. Right now I'm writing a letter that I want you to give to him a year from now." Her words stung his ears with something he was not prepared to hear, especially since they were still on their honey moon and all. "I've been writing letters for each birthday until his 18th, college acceptance, first love, marriage, first baby, and stuff like that I want you to to give to him when the time is right."

"Why must I give him these letters," Taeyang asked subconsciously out loud.

She went quiet as she thought about what to say, "Because...you're the best love letter I can give to him. You are his father and the one that will be raising him."

"I...I don't know," he thought back to the horrible father son trip he had taken before the wedding. "I may be his father, but you're his mother. You know him best. I just think of what would Minzy do if she were here." His greatest fears came rushing through his mind as he sat up becoming overwhelmed. "I...I love you Minzy, but you can't just up and leave me...leave us."

Taeyang didn't realize he was crying, until he felt her warm embrace. Leaning into her safe embrace, he felt protected from the cold truth. "It's not by choice. I will try my best to fight this as long as I can. I need you to promise me that you will never give into the fight as long as you live. Not just for me, but for our son." Closing his eyes as he felt her tears begin to dampen his shirt as he felt her clinging onto him. They were both scared out of their mind for what the future had in store for them.

As they laid entangled after a much needed cry, Minzy softly mumbled his name to which Taeyang hummed in response. "When the fight is done. Will you go back to being a player or will you come and find me again in the next life?"

Her words made him grin to himself as he snuggled up further against her, "It's tough to say. There's plenty of fish in the sea..."

Minzy squeezed him hard, making him cough a laugh, "There's plenty of fish in the sea, but none as good as me."

Smiling at her witty remark, he leaned down and kissed the top of her head, "True, there's no one like you."

ONE YEAR LATER

Taeyang sighed as he sat staring down at his son fast asleep. Grinning to himself, his gaze dropped to the envelope in his hand. His grin faultered as he gently woke his son. Watching as his little eyes slowly opened, his grin spread into a smile. "Good morning son, how about we get some breakfast and go see mom?"

Little Taeyang quickly popped up and shouted gleefully as he raced to the bathroom to get dressed, "Yes, let's go see mommy!"

Taeyang chuckled as his son jumped out of the car before he could park the car, "Son!" Shaking his head as he watched his son race down the grassy path, Taeyang knew that was a trait of Minzy's. He was forever chasing her and now he was chasing their son. Sighing to himself, he made his way out of the car and followed in the foot steps of his son. Clutching the envelope in his hand, he held out the bouquet of white roses and let his son place them upon Minzy's headstone. Standing in awe as his son, dusted off the leaves and grass upon his mother's grave. He grinned as his son began to greet his mother as if she was there with them. Taking a seat next to the headstone, little Taeyang waved for him to sit next to him. Taeyang quietly took a seat next to his son and watched in amazement as littel Taeyang began to ramble off on how he had burnt french toast for breakfast, but it was okay because he knew that his dad couldn't cook like his mom. Taeyang chuckled as he shook his head and glanced back down to the enveloped that seemed to weigh heavier in his hands at the moment.

"Son, mom gave me a love letter to give to you today," Taeyang finally said as he held out the envelop to his son.

Little Taeyang quickly snatched the letter from his grasp and hugged it like a prized possesion. Ripping it open, Taeyang too became excited. "Will you read it to me," Little Taeyang asked realizing that there were some big words in there.

"Yeah, little man," Taeyang accepted the letter and gazed down at Minzy's hand writing. Thinking back to their honey moon, he felt a tug at his heart as he began to read the love letter to his son. "Dear Son, did you eat today? Did your dad make you something delicious to eat," The first two questions had both of them giggling as he continued to read. "I want you to know that I love you so much. You must be hurting so much without me there with you. But I want you to know that I have left you in good hands. Daddy will take good care of you while I'm gone..." Taeyang paused as he was filled with so much emotions. Holding back the tears, he continued to read, "I'm only going to be gone for a little while my love. So be good to your dad and be happy. I love you son. Until I see you again, love mom." Little Taeyang ripped the letter from Taeyang's grasp and hugged it tightly against him as he loudly proclaimed his love for his mother. This had Taeyang tearing up as he joined in and shouted out loud that he too loved Minzy.

After a good visit to Minzy's grave, Taeyang convinced his son that it was time to go grab some lunch or else his mother would be very upset if he were to starve. With that reasoning, little Taeyang was off. Racing to the car, Taeyang chuckled as he noticed Top standing by it. Walking back to his car, he grinned as little Tae jumped into Top's arms. Giving him a big hug while Taeyang came to stand next to them.

"What's up man," Taeyang greeted his friend.

Top chuckled as he set little Tae down and watched as he scrambled into the car, "Nothing much man, I just came to check on you."

Taeyang gave him a grateful smile and shrugged, "I'm doing my best for my son."

Top nodded as he went quiet. "Minzy was a great woman," suddenly he held a white envelope out towards Taeyang. "She asked me to give this to you a year later."

Taeyang was in awe as he accepted the letter. Feeling himself trembling, he couldn't help but embrace his friend, "Thank you."

After tucking his son in for his afternoon nap, Taeyang retreated back to his room to see the white envelope sitting on his bed. He was surprised and grateful that Minzy had written him as well. Taking the letter in hand, he carefully opened it and paused as he saw the letter. Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm his pounding heart. Pulling out the paper, he slowly unfolded it and started to read:

Dear Taeyang,

You've made it a whole year without me. Are you well? Is it hard to take care of our son alone? It must be hard on you to suddenly be the sole person that little Tae depends on. But I knew you could handle it after chasing me for so long. I never made it easy on you. Since finding out about that sick little game you and Top played in college, I knew I had to make it hard on you. But what started out as just a game, it turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to me because you gave me the world. Our son gave me purpose and a reason to be. Little Tae opened not only my eyes, but my heart to you. Words can't express the love I never knew I could feel until our son. I will always cherish the time we got to really know each other, even if it was for a short while. I look forward to seeing you again one day. Until then, I grant you the right to go out there and be a player again. Go and fall in love. Live life and be the best daddy our son needs.

Loving you from afar, Minzy.

Taeyang laughed as the tears fell from his eyes. Grateful to have received such a love letter from someone he missed with everything in him, he sighed and kissed the letter before making his way back to see their son fast asleep. He looked so innocent and at peace, Taeyang figured he was dreaming of his mother. "Tell your mother I love her and that I was never a player to begin with." Faking innocence, Taeyang smiled lovingly at his son imagining Minzy's witty comebacks.
