“Really? Oh, congratulations, son! You’ve been champions for the last three years! I’m so proud of you,” Mrs. Wu can’t help but smother her laptop screen where an image of her son with his boyfriend is. “I really hate that I can’t be with you to celebrate your win,” she sighed.
“Don’t sweat it, mom. We can always celebrate when you get back,” Kris reassured his mother. He misses her so much but if he as much as show a sign of weakness, she will definitely fly back to him. His father needs her more than he does. Besides, he’s got Chanyeol who’s gotten into a cheerful conversation with his mother. She always insists that they should Skype together daily.
“Is he treating you well, Channie?” the conversation started to shift to Kris.
“Yes, mom. Though he has been busy with all the practice and council work,” Chanyeol pouted then turned to Kris to grin evilly. Kris prepared himself.
“Wu Yi Fan! How many times did I tell you that you should not neglect Channie? You should still make time for him…” and the sermon went on and on. While Kris was busy appeasing his mother, Chanyeol is laughing beside him.
“That’s fine, mom. Kris is being good to me so you don’t have to worry,” Chanyeol decided to intervene before Kris could throw a fit over being scolded.
“He better. Just tell me if he does anything stupid, okay?”
“That’s no fair, mom. I’m your son here,” Kris protested.
“This kid. I just want you to be happy and you’ll only be if Chanyeol is with you so I’m making sure that he stays,” Mrs. Wu smiled smugly at her son.
“Don’t worry, mom. I won’t go running away,” Chanyeol replied earning him a kiss on the cheek courtesy of a grinning Kris.
“You heard that, mom. He said that he won’t run away,” Kris took his hand to his and gripped it tightly.
“That’s good to hear.”
“Tell the boys I said hi,” Mr. Wu shouted from the background.
“Go tell them yourself, you lazy old man,” Mrs. Wu shot a dirty glare to the general direction of her husband behind her.
“I’m not looking like the most eligible bachelor so I better hide myself from their eyes,” Mr. Wu argued.
“Keep that up, mister and I’m flying the earliest flight out back to my sons,” Mrs. Wu threatened.
“Geez, this woman,” Mr. Wu came into view in his plaid dark blue pajamas. “Congratulations, son. And take care, you two. Pass my greetings to the rest of the gang,” he winked and turned back to where he came from.
“That sounded so insincere,” Mrs. Wu frowned. Kris and Chanyeol snickered.
“That’s okay, mom. Dad’s tired and you should rest, too. We’re eating with the others in a bit,” Kris said.
“Speaking of which, how’s Jongin, Yi Fan?” the worry is evident on his mother’s forehead.
“Still the same.” Kris replied and Chanyeol squeezed his hand. Jongin had stopped drinking but his night life is buzzing. He goes club hopping every night and goes back home early in the morning, waking Luhan up. Luhan shouldn’t be disturbed when he sleeps because he will not let you until he gets to sleep again so the poor kid sometimes had to go to classes without a drop of sleep.
“He should act like a trying grown-up and not like a childish idiot,” Luhan once said when Kris had told Luhan should go easy on the younger.
“His mom is really worried but they can’t make it back, yet,” Mrs. Wu clucked her tongue.
“Aunt should be
