Play Me a Song, Piano Man

Do You Remember Me~? ~Forgotten Memories~

There was a moment of silence as you gaped at him in astoundment. You couldn't believe your eyes. 'What- Byunghun oppa was my hero?' You rubbed your eyes just to be sure that they were not deceiving you. 'No way!'

L. Joe squirmed uncomfortably under your weight. "Okay, you caught me. Can you get off of me now? I'm turning into a pancake!" He whined. Slightly dazed, you feebly stood up. You wanted to say something, but you were tongue tied. L. Joe stood up and dusted off some rubble that stuck to his clothes.

"Y-you're that mysterious hooded guy?" You asked and he nodded.

"You saved me twice when I was in a bad position?" Again, he bobbed his head.

You paused for a moment. "Wait, how did you know where I was those two times?"

He froze. He didn't expect you ask such a question. "Well... I..." He glanced around the vicinity as he tried to come up with a logical explanation that didn't make him look like a creep.

"Oppa." You eyed him. "Did you perhaps...stalk me?"

"What?! NO! Of course not! Don't be silly!" L. Joe laughed abruptly and you rolled your eyes. 'He is so easy to read.' "Then how did you know where I was then, huh?" "...Coincidence?" You scoffed. "Right, stalker." "Yah! This stalker saved your life twice in a row! Be grateful." "Don't worry, I am very grateful to you, stalker oppa~" "Yahh." L. Joe scowled and ruffled his hair, irked.

"Today, I was looking for you, you know?" L. Joe said. "You did? I didn't know." You did your best to keep a poker face as he scrutinized you. "Really? You didn't know I was scouring the halls for you and calling your name?" He raised an eyebrow. "No." You stated. "Then why did you run away from your friends when I was running towards you? Huh?" He questioned and you gulped. 'Did he see me run?' "I didn't see you dart away, but your friends sure did." He spoke as if he read your mind. You shook your head. 'Aish, Kevin must have ratted me out, that idiot.' "Okay, yes, I did run away once I noticed you coming. But I didn't intend to dart off like that!" "Then why did you run?" "I...I don't even know myself." You sighed. "Instincts, I guess..." L. Joe frowned and his heart dropped. 'Even her instincts tells her to stray away from me.'

"Yeah..." You glanced down apologetically and tapped your toe on the group. You glanced up and briefly made eye contact with him before averting your eyes. "Anyways...why were you looking for me?"

L. Joe brightened slightly. "I wanted to show you something."

"Show me something?" You tilted your head curiously. "Show me what?"

"I was planning on showing it to you later since today's attempt was an utter failure, but I guess I could show you now...if you want." L. Joe stared at you with hopeful, glistening eyes.

The way he looked at you sent a warm shiver down your spine. He reminded you of a lost puppy that was begging for someone to pick him up and take him home. 'Even if I wanted to decline, the way he's looking at me makes it impossible! Damn him and his sparkly eyes.' You nodded. "Okay...but stop looking at me like that." 'You're looking too cute...'

"YES!" L. Joe threw his fist in the air ecstatically. You couldn't help but laugh. 'Weirdo.'

"I promise you won't regret your decision." L. Joe jumped ahead. "Follow me!"

You compliantly tailed after him until you reached your destination.

"Oppa..." "Hmm?" "...why are we at school?" "You'll see." He smirked and began to scale the wall that surrounded the school. "Yah! What are you doing?!" You hissed and glanced around the vicinity for any sign of witnesses. "We aren't allowed on school property after school hours!" "And when did I ever care about rules?" You didn't retort and fell silent. 'He's got a point.'

L. Joe smirked and sat at the peak of the wall. "Here, grab my hand. I'll help you up." He reached down but you refused his offer. "I can get up myself." "You sure? It's quite high up here-" L. Joe stared with wide eyes as you leaped high into the air, grabbed the edge of the wall, and flung yourself over. You landed safely on the other side.

"Very sure." You smirked at him. "Coming down anytime soon?"

"Show off." L. Joe muttered under his breath and leaped down.

"I heard that." You said. L. Joe grimaced and lead you into the school through an opened window.

He lead you to a remote area of the school where many students usually do not tread. The halls of the school were dark and the only light source was the moonlight that shone through the murky glass window. You felt your heart palpitate as you glanced around cautiously. L. Joe glanced at your slightly shakened form and softened.

"~~~~~~."

You slightly jumped and snapped your head in his direction. "What?!" You blurted, anxious. "You okay?" He noticed how stiff you were and felt worried. You nodded, but you still felt rigid. "I'm not really fond of the dark...remember?" He suddenly remembered the incident in the haunted house and his lips formed the shape of an 'o'.

He put a comforting hand on your shoulder and gave you a reassuring squeeze. "Don't worry, we're almost there." He soothed and you nodded, feeling a bit more relaxed.

He directed you to a classroom and slid the door open. He gestured you to step in the pitch black room and you hesitated, staring apprehensively into the eerie darkness.

"Don't worry, I'm right behind you." He assured and you slowly stepped into the room.

"One second, I'll look for the light switch." L. Joe said and felt the walls for the switch.

"Oppa, pali!" You pleaded and squeezed your eyes shut in sheer fear.

"Found it!" The lights flickered on and you immediately relaxed at once.

You glanced around the room and your eyes immediately landed on the sleak black piano. You smiled at the familiar instrument. You ran over, sat down on the stool, and lifted up the piano cover, revealing the black and white keys. You pressed a key and a note hummed out. You closed your eyes and enjoyed the pleasant sound.

"Is this why you brought me here? To see the piano?" You asked with your eyes still closed as you pressed another key.

"Mhm." L. Joe sat next to you on the stool.

You opened your eyes. "I didn't know this school had a piano." You began to play 'Mary had a Little Lamb' and smiled gleefully. L. Joe watched you play the piano with warm, adoring eyes.

After you finished playing, you placed your hands on your lap and sighed contently. "I wish I knew how to play the piano sometimes." You mused to yourself. "So I can hear it's beautiful melody...maybe I should take lessons."

"You don't need to." L. Joe said.

"But I want to." You pouted. "The piano doesn't sound the same if heard on audio. I want to be able to come here and play any melody I want."

"No. I won't let you take lessons."

You raised eyebrow. "Oh? And why is that? I can learn to play the piano if I want to; it's not your choice to make." You said, slightly irritated. "Or perhaps you want me to hire a piano man to play songs for me?" You asked sarcastically.

He looked into your eyes. "I will be your piano man."

"You?" You blinked, surprised. "So you're going to learn to play the piano then?"

He shook his head.

"Then how will you be my 'piano man'?" You crossed your arms, curious.

He didn't answer your question. He silently placed his long fingers on the cool keys and began playing a song. You immediately recognized the song and began singing along to the music.

After the song finished, you stared at L. Joe, awed. "Since when did you play the piano?"

"I learned a long time ago." He said.

"Then why didn't you ever play for me?" You asked.

"Because I wasn't good yet. I only just begun to take lessons."

"Ah." You nodded understandingly. "Why didn't you tell me you were taking lessons?"

"It was supposed to be a surprise." "Well, I was very surprised." You grinned."Congratulations! Your plan worked!" L. Joe returned your grin.

"Well, thanks for playing for me, piano man. It was really nice. Thanks for bringing me here." You smiled and stood up to leave.

L. Joe swiftly shot his hand up and grabbed your wrist before you could leave. You stopped in your tracks, glanced at the hand gripping your wrist, then at him. You gave him a puzzled look. "Wae?"

"I didn't bring you here just to show you my playing skills." L. Joe pulled you back down onto the seat.

"Then what else do you have in store for me?" You anticipated what else he was planning to do.

L. Joe took a deep breath and stood up. He went to a cabinet in the corner of the room and pulled out a manila folder. You watched curiously as he returned and sat back on the seat.

"I wanted to do something to make it up to you for the mistake I made." He opened the manila and pulled out a music sheet with the words 'To You' titled at the very top of the paper.

"To You..." You read the words out loud thoughtfully. Your eyes scanned the paper and grew wide as saucers. Under the title, in a small font, was written 'Composed by Lee, Byunghun.'

"You wrote a song...for me?" You murmured, touched by his efforts.

"Yeah. It took a hell of a long time, but it was worth it." He placed his fingers on the keys and started playing. Surprising you, he began to sing along as he played. At one part of the song, L. Joe impressed you as he began to rap. Your eyes sparkled in amazement. 'I didn't know he could rap so well!'

L. Joe glanced at you and smirked at your awestruck expression. You met eyes with him and couldn't help but stare into his profound gaze. Without breaking contact, he continued playing till the song ended.

"Wahh..." You breathed, feeling warm and fluffy inside. "That was really...beautiful."

L. Joe grinned proudly, glad you were pleased. "So we're cool now, right? You won't be avoiding me anymore...?" L. Joe stared at you, fingers crossed behind his back that you would return to the normal you.

You pursed your lips and thought deeply. You didn't feel the urge to keep your distance anymore and smiled in relief. 'I no longer have that dark feeling in my heart anymore. Thank god.' You nodded and beamed at him. "I won't."

L. Joe bursted into jovialness. "YES!!" He threw his arms around you and lifted you up from your seat. You gasped then giggled, wrapping your arms around him as well. 'I missed him a lot...' He finally placed you down after a moment. "Thank god this crisis is over. I thought I was going to go crazy with your cold treatment." You felt guilty for making him suffer so much. 'I really shouldn't have been so mean to him.' You frowned slightly. "Hey, why are you sulking for?" "I don't know why I even treated you like that, I really shouldn't have. Sorry." You looked down ruefully. L. Joe softened and tilted your chin up to meet his eyes. "It's completely fine. I should have trusted you." Your smiled softly. 'I really love you, oppa...'

"It's getting late. I'll walk you home." He offered and you accepted.

The both of you walked off into the night, laughing and fooling around as if nothing even happened.

---------------------

After a couple of minutes, you arrived home. You felt slightly sad that the time passed so fast. 'I don't want him to leave yet...'

L. Joe shuffled his feet, also unwilling to depart from your side. He lingered a minute longer before sighing. 'I better leave her to her beauty sleep...'

"I better go now...night, ~~~~~~." L. Joe murmured with a wave and turned to leave.

Your heart throbbed. 'Don't go!' You reached out and snagged the back of his shirt. You startled yourself with your action. He glanced back with inquiring eyes. You quickly released the hem of his shirt and looked away, embarrased. "N-nothing." "Okay then...night" He turned to leave again.

You suddenly had a brilliant idea. "Oppa, Wait!" L. Joe tilted his head back and glanced at you. "How about you sleep over my house?!"

"Sleep over?" He blinked in shock. "Wow ~~~~~~, I never knew you were that type of girl." He teased and clawed the air. "Rawr!"

"What are you talking about- Yah!" You turned red and lightly smacked him on the arm. "I didn't mean it like that!"

"Aw, you're blushing." L. Joe cooed and you covered your sizzling cheeks. "Shut up."

He chortled at how adorable you were. "You're so cute." You blushed even more.

You turned your back to him and took out your keys to unlock the door. As you plunged the key into the lock, you took a deep breath to calm yourself. You then opened the door and stepped to the side.

"Thanks for inviting me!" L. Joe skipped into your house.

You pursed your lip as you watched him jump onto the couch and made himself at home. 'Maybe I shouldn't have invited him in...' You shook your head and smiled excitedly. 'No, I'm glad I did.' Your smiled reached your eyes as you closed the door shut behind you.
