Chapter 25

He's My Soul

is this a little later than usual? yeah, I fell asleep and didn't wake up for a very long time .____. sleeping pills were stronger than I expected them to be lol.

WROTE THIS ON A PRETTY EMPTY STOMACH SO DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH OUT OF IT. and seriously this format.

Myungsoo felt his teeth chatter, watching as his little brother’s gaze was fixed on Kim Sunggyu. From the corner of his eye, he saw Woohyun emerge from his room.

Immediately, he made a shoving motion with his hands, telling Woohyun to go back into his room. The older boy looked from the familiar diva boy to his old best friend, all of a sudden understanding the situation and darting back inside as fast as he could.

“M – Myungsoo, it’s-s…Kim Sunggyu…” Sungjong’s eyes were wide, his shaking finger pointing the man standing before him. “Why…what…he…”

Myungsoo bit his lip, his eyes creased into confused crescents. “It’s…a  long story, Jong.”

Long story?!” Sungjong screamed, turning back to his older brother. “Dragging me here is a long story! Explaining why a renounced superstar is in the same room as me is not a long story!”

“MYUNGSOO!” The same, loud, loud, loud, voice screamed from inside the room. “HELP. PLEASE?!”

“And who’s that?!” Sungjong wasn’t confused any more, he was rather frustrated and searching for – no, demanding answers.

“They’re –“ Myungsoo stopped for a second, looking at the door. He couldn’t help but think of how exactly Sungyeol needed his help. “Sunggyu…”

Sunggyu just looked at him strangely, raising his eyebrows. He’d taken it that this boy was Kim Myungsoo, but the little screaming girly guy was still a clot in his mind.

Hesitating a bit, Myungsoo reached over to take Sungjong’s hand in his. “As my precious little brother…you promise you won’t freak out, right?”

The distraught look on Sungjong’s face turned to a rather peculiar one. “But…Kim Sunggyu…”

“Kim Sunggyu isn’t going to be so important after this,” Myungsoo answered right away. It took all his willpower not to laugh at Sunggyu’s totally revolted face.

“But –“

“You promise?”

“Fine, yeah, I promise,” Sungjong said quickly, looking at Sunggyu as if he was trying to figure out if what was in front of him was actually a hologram.

“Great,” Myungsoo sarcastically murmured, pulling Sungjong over to the door and away from the silent Sunggyu. “Let’s see what the idiot needs now.”

 ~

“So,” Gyuri hummed, looking from Hoya to the dark walls. “What connection exactly do you have with Yoo Ara and Lime?”

Hoya was about to answer, but bit it back. “My connection?”

“Yeah.” She twisted her flashlight around momentarily to let the light shine on Hoya’s face, then back at the empty rooms.

“…Dongwoo,” he answered after a second of thinking.

He heard Gyuri stop walking, the footsteps no longer audible. Hoya sighed, stopping along with her and backing up a few steps.

“Dongwoo?” Her voice sounded…somewhat scared.

“It’s a long story, really.”

“Dongwoo.”

“…Yeah, Dongwoo.”

Gyuri’s hand hurriedly pointed the flashlight before her so the smile on her face was no longer visible.

“Dongwoo, eh?” She muttered quietly, motioning for Hoya to keep walking. As the light focused on the pitch black road ahead of them, her mind ran over all Kwanghee had told her.

They had had tons of ways to get to all the boys, excluding Dongwoo.

Excluding Dongwoo.

Gyuri reached into her pocket, pressing some buttons on her phone without even having to take it out.

 ~

“What’s…going on?” Sunggyu called out, although he was very well aware of the fact that nobody was in the room with him. Someone, though, had to be listening.

“That’s Myungsoo’s brother, Sungjong,” a voice answered, coming closer to him. “He’s exactly how I remembered him, really.”

Sunggyu gulped, not daring to turn around. “W-what’s going on then –“

He was interrupted by a loud, very, very high, completely deafening shriek.

 ~

Myungsoo wanted to laugh. Usually he just had this urge to go and punch the boy whenever he saw him, but now, it was pure laughter.

It wasn’t only that, either. He just had this weird feeling to go run over and poke at him in that little blanket bun, all rolled up like that.

Sungjong, however, had very different ideas.

“OHMYGAWD SOMEBODY KILL ME NOW OH THE LORD HELP ME GAHH HELP MEEEEEE SOMEBODY OH GEEZUS. IT’S LEE SUNGYEOL. IT’S ACTUALLY LEE SUNGYEOL.”

Sungyeol, however, just stared. The only thing appearing from the blanket bun was his head, and it was clearly blushing red. It took a while for Myungsoo to figure out that he was actually staring at Sungjong’s hand, which was being held back by him.

“Sungyeol,” Myungsoo said tightly, keeping Sungjong from running over and squeezing the dear life out of the pop star, “meet my little brother, Sungjong.”

“IT’S LEE SUNGYEOL!” Sungjong screamed, his breathing completely out of natural order and his face in an unexplainable expression. “PRAISE THE HEAVENS. IT’S LEE SUNGYEOL!”

Sungyeol blinked a bit, wriggling in the blanket bun. “…Hi.”

“HE SPEAKS. HE SPEAKS, MYUNGSOO, HE SPEAKS!”

“And he’s also right there.” Myungsoo rolled his eyes, knowing that this was exactly how his little brother would react. Maybe, somehow, a bit more extreme – but still, it was something of the sort. “You promised you wouldn’t freak.”

“BUT IT’S LEE SUNGYEOL! HOW COULD I NOT FREAK?!”

Myungsoo breathed a bit, dragging Sungjong over to a separate corner of the room. “You. Sit. Here. Do not move, or I will kill you.”

Sungjong pouted a bit, knowing that it had affect on his older brother. Only rolling his eyes again, Myungsoo stood up and walked over to Sungyeol’s side of the bed.

“What did you do now?” He sighed, grabbing one end of the blanket and unraveling it from Sungyeol’s body.

“I was just happy,” Sungyeol explained, his face continuously being twisted from the air to the ground as Myungsoo pulled the blanket from him. “I didn’t think this would – oof.”

Myungsoo couldn’t help but giggle at the sound Sungyeol was making. The blanket, now completely off of Sungyeol, was thrown on the bed.

“Where’s my coffee?”

“Ara drank it,” Myungsoo answered, standing up. “Now let’s get to signing those thousands of albums for my little brother.”

 ~

Lime nervously glanced at her watch, her face cringing at how much time had passed. Hoya should’ve been out by now. He should’ve been out at least fifteen minutes ago, long before her.

Something was wrong, she knew it – something had to be wrong.

Without another conflicted thought in mind, Lime brought down her sunglasses and stepped into the building.

It was just as she remembered it, just as crappy and dysfunctional and ty. The only change was that it was dark, pitch black, as if KSO hadn’t even been able to muster up enough money to pay for the electricity bills.

Her left hand was kept at her pocket, occasionally feeling it to make sure that she had it in hand in case anything happened – in case.

As if by habit, Lime stopped at the room to her left. If the rooming in the building hadn’t changed (she doubted it, it would’ve cost much too much money – money that KSO didn’t have), this was supposed to be Kwanghee’s computer room.

Except nobody was in it.

She made another run through with her eyes around the dark building, catching nothing but the usual chair, two couches, and desk with a computer on it. The desk was facing the door, meaning that if anybody was on the computer, she would’ve been able to see them.

Where the was Hoya then?

Unless he had gotten lost (which she doubted to the extreme), he should’ve either been in there or outside with Ara by now.

KSO wasn’t here, she could almost but an a million dollar debt on that. The smell of chicken wasn’t lingering around, meaning that Onew wasn’t here. If Onew wasn’t here, that meant that Siwon wasn’t here. And since the computer room laid unoccupied, that meant that Kwanghee wasn’t here either.

But somehow, Hoya had vanished. He would’ve called her if something was up, but nothing appeared on her screen. Not the simple text of “I’m okay” or even a warning telling her that he’d run off with Ara. She needed something to tell her that Hoya was alright.

Hoya was the one no one in KSO was supposed to know about. He was their card, their one advantage.

She’d been so careful, not just her, Fei and Ara too, that Hoya wasn’t revealed to any of this. He was simply supposed to be there for Dongwoo and for the purpose of spying.

Nobody was supposed to touch him. Nobody was even supposed to know about him.

An obvious tear trickling down her cheek, Lime removed the sunglasses and pulled out her phone. Ara would hate her, but she had to.

“Lime?” the shaky voice answered.

“Hoya…” Lime started, surprised at how stable her voice seemed. “He’s…”

“Gone?” Ara finished, although there was still a bit of hope that she could have been wrong.

“Gone.”

Lime heard a long honk, followed by a short scream. She knew her unnie, she knew that Ara tried to keep her freakout short and as powerful as she could. Lime shook her head again, feeling her hair push itself over her face.

“Come outside,” Ara quickly said, swallowing to calm herself down. “I’ll call Fei.”

 ~

Dongwoo eyed the two figures in the living room talking uncomfortably, and he closed the door, deciding to leave them some privacy (although they wouldn’t have even known if he was eavesdropping anyway).

As he heard the door click behind him, Dongwoo walked over to the bed to lie on it. His hand found the pillow beside him, reminding him that Hoya had been sleeping here last night.

The younger boy had randomly disappeared with Ara and Lime this morning, just leaving him with a “goodbye” and Ara’s random instructions to explain everything to Sunggyu.

They wouldn’t even tell him where they were bringing Hoya, too. He trusted them, knew that they wouldn’t bring him any harm. But Dongwoo couldn’t help but be so worried. There was this feeling in his chest, not even in his heart anymore. It kept climbing up, traveling until it got to his mind and gave him irregular, paranoid thoughts.

For some weird reason, the first thing that he thought of was Sunggyu, and the people that had done that to his best friend.

They couldn’t reach Hoya, right? Hoya was just a regular person, like Myungsoo. They weren’t famous. Whoever did all that to Sunggyu couldn’t lay their hands on Hoya, that was just wrong.

He kept telling himself these thoughts over and over again, as if somehow they would eventually comfort and rid him of these scared thoughts and feelings.

Rolling around in his bed and finally resulting to sitting up and going outside, Dongwoo decided that they didn’t.

I didn't think so many of you guys were expecting the YeolJong meet XDDD decided to add that in for fun~ it's very similar to HwaJong's phone conversation, if you may.

that reminds me. I probably should add in more Jonghyun and Hwayoung and reactions to Sunggyu's mess up. gahhhh being hungry leads you to thinking not too straightly.

well~ happy Friday! I hope you had a good one ^^

Chapter 40: Ohhh.. Dear Lord! This is AMAZING! I love this story! >< The storyline is complicated yet so wonderful! It's like an adventure of the seven boys.
But... I actually don't expect the ending will be like this. They are having their own life? Hmm. It's fine. Even it's far from my expectation that I thought you'll make them be a boy group that called Infinite. XD But I know, not all the happy ending is like what we wish for, but we'll always can create our own happy ending. Hehe.
