It was 9.45am, her alarm clock started ringing. She woke up earlier than she expected. She didn't want to open her curtains. It would be too bright. She stretched her arms and got out of bed. She washed  her face with the ice cold water. It was winter then. If someone saw her then, they would think she's crazy. Why? She only had her undergarments on. She didn't really care. She lived alone in a studio type condominium. Actually she had a roommate before. But the rommie had to leave because of family matters back home. She stared into the mirror. She really didn't like what she saw. Her face was all red and her eyes were swollen and by swollen, really swollen.

"You better get a grip Amber." She said to herself.

She slapped her face and prepared herself something to eat. Toast, egg, ham and cheese. It was the best she could come up with in that state of hers. Things  used to be so bright and colorful. But not that day, maybe no longer.

Her phone then ringed. She ran to get it hoping it could be him.

"Yeoboseyo?"

"Amber unnie!"

She was a bit disappointed. It was her former roomie. "Hey Luna, what's up?"

"You seem a bit off unnie? Wae? Come on, wouldn't you even welcome me back?"

"Mwo? Where are you?"

"Right at the door silly! can't open it because I've got a lot of stuff with me. Hurry!"

She ran to get the door. "You could've at least knocked."

"I wanted to surprise you but seems like my plan failed."

They entered the room.

"Woah, did something happen last night? It's quite messy."

"Ahh, no. I've just been busy with work and all. I really can't take the time to actually clean every now and then."

"This is not like you unnie. Did something happen?" Luna asked as she lay down her luggage.

"Aneyo. Everything's fine. Why ask?"

"Well, you're not the messy type. You may be quite sloppy and boyish at times but this is unlike you. You're more of a clean freak than I am."

"Really, I'm fine. Coffee?"

Amber went to prepare coffee in the kitchen until Luna hugged her.

"Come on unnie. Let it out. I think I came just in time."

Amber can longer hold it in. " I really don't understand Luna."

"I'll listen. Come."

"I don't know where I went wrong. We were supposed to get married in four months and here I am all miserable. Does he even feel the same? Luna my life has never been this messed up." Amber kept on crying.

"Unnie, you should try to calm down. Nothing's going to turn out well if you keep acting like this. You're better than this.."

"But Luna, he was all I had. We were together for 3 years and yet things turned out like this. It doesn't make sense."

"You know what? I think you should join me for a night out tonight! My high school friends invited me. Come on. Have some fun and loosen up!"

"I'm not so sure about that Sunyoung."

"Don't be such a kill joy!"

 Luna was finally able to convince Amber to join her for a night out later that evening. Luna dressed Amber as best as she can.

"I'm really not comfortable wearing dresses like this. Uhh, Why did I have to agree to this." 

"You'll be fine! Come on. Let's go."

They went to a famous and elite hub in Seoul. They were really enjoying.

"I have to thank you for this!" Amber said.

"Consider it as a gift for the half year I'm gone. Glad you like it unnie."

Consider that Amber was then intoxicated with alcohol. She was laughing the entire time until she saw a couple fighting. She didn't like. It reminded her the scene she was in two nights back. "Sheesh, I have no time for this kind of .." She said.

She left the hub and walked to a place she didn't really know. It was snowing. But she didn't really realize it. She was a wee bit too drunk to even notice. She stopped by a bridge. It was around 11.00pm then. She started shouting. "Henry!! You are such an ! You, why??? Why of all men. why???!" She can no longer continue tears consumed her eyes. Being not in the right state of mind she stood on the railings of the bridge and looked down. It wasn't really that high. The bridge was over a bit two storeys high. She would survive if ever she jumped but since the river below is freezing cold, she would definitely sustain a fever if ever she jumped. 

She looked down and mumbled, "Maybe this would be the best for everybody." She took in a deep breath until she heard someone.

"Jumping wouldn't solve anything you know."

She was a bit offended. "Why do you care? Who are you anyway?"

"I don't know you so why should I tell you my name?" the lad answered.

The boy was really getting on Amber's nerves. "Why you?!" She ran over to punch him but he managed to get a hold of her.

"It's freezing cold out here. You seem drunk. It would be best if you had tea before you head back home. Come."

"Why should I come with you bastard!"

"Don't be so stubborn."

The lad dragged Amber to the nearest tea shop that was still open.

"You're lucky this store is still open. Drink up. You'll need it."

Amber was touched. She really thought that the guy might do something bad to her instead he actually cared.

"Look, I'm sorry. I didn't.."

"It's okay. Besides your drunk.. Hurry. This shop will close soon. Besides it's already late. You should go home."

"But where is the terminal? I'm not really familiar with this place."

"I knew you weren't from here. Just finish and I'll bring you to the terminal."

The lad brought Amber the terminal. As she got into the bus, Amber thanked the boy.

"Thank you for bringing me here. Bye."

"Bye. Be careful."

The bus closed and Amber sat down. She had a smile on her face.

"Shoot! I didn't even get his name. Argh. Great Amber. Seems like that was our first and final encounter."

Amber sighed and thought whether she'll meet the boy ever again.
