“H-How long has it been Chaeyoung?” Kris asked, his hand still flat against her belly.
“Just over 2 months.” She answered, switching her attention to a nearby bird, perched on a branch. She didn’t want to see the look of disgust she expected from Kris.
Kris continued to stare at her stomach, like he couldn’t believe the news he was hearing. His fingers trailed over her stomach and he swore he felt something tingly dart up his arms, as if it was a sign there was a living form in her abdomen.
“Wow.” Was all he could breathe out.
“Go on. Yell at me. Tell me how stupid I was.” She demanded.
Kris’s expression softened. “So this is why…..” He trailed off, “You didn’t want your child to feel the pain Sehun was experiencing. If he/she experienced second hand pain longer, it would’ve surely died.”
Chaeyoung’s shoulders slumped in dejection. “I’m sorry you had to mark me.”
“Don’t be. I’m glad that your baby is safe.” Kris managed a serene grin. Chaeyoung eventually imitated him, smiling too. “Thank you Kris.”
“No problem but since your carrying this treasure, your mission….” His voice dropped and the look on his face grew disheartened. “I don’t think you’re fit to continue it.”
“I can still do it.” Chaeyoung protested but Kris shook his head, a stern expression rolling off his prominent features. “Don’t do anything that will endanger your child. Please Chaeyoung.” He pleaded.
“But I was supposed to complete the mission!” She argued.
“Chaeyoung, think about your child. If you were to go out there now and suddenly be attacked by some retard, what do you think will happen to your baby?” He reprimanded. “Yes, the mission was yours but that was before you fell pregnant.”
“Kris, please.” Chaeyoung looked at him with remorseful orbs.
Kris held out his hand, to halt her speech. “No Chaeyoung. Listen to me. That child you have in your stomach is more important than this mission. Your job now is to protect it.”
“Kris.” Chaeyoung almost dropped to her knees in a plea.
“Chaeyoung.” Kris warned.
Chaeyoung had no choice but oblige and feel immensely guilty and sad that her mission was taken off her. She could imagine her mother raging with anger and her brothers shaking their heads in disappointment. She was already disgracing the family with falling pregnant, and now that the mission was off her hands, there was no doubt she would be welcomed with lethal glares and unfriendly beatings.
“Chaeyoung.” Kris called her name more softly. He took a strand of her famous strawberry strands and curled it around his fingers. “Please listen to me. That baby in your stomach does not only affect you, but it affects me too as I’ve marked you. Despite Sehun being the father, the child itself will recognise me as it’s father figure. Sehun’s scent is no longer existent to the foetus. It’ll recognise me more than it will to Sehun.”
“H-How did you know it’s Sehuns?” She watched him with wide eyes.
Kris smirked, “Who else would you bed beside that silver-headed wolf?”
Chaeyoung hated the
