Chapter 93

False Awakening

Taemin held Minho’s hand as they walked down the halls of a school neither of them had ever been to.

“Minho, have you ever done a summer course like this?”

“Hmm… nope. Never. I never really needed or wanted to. Do you think they’ll let me stick around?” The elder asked.

“I hope so. It was my only request. They promised me that much. But… only those three students know I’m gay and, well, you’re gay and that we’re married… for the sake of this being a school, maybe we should keep it on the down low.”

“I agree, Kitten. Does that mean I can sneak a kiss before we go in?”

“Of course.” Taemin smiled, puckering his lips. Time seemed against them as they were just seconds too late, the classroom door opening to a professor with a welcoming smile, causing both of them to jump back.

“Why hello, I thought I heard you out here. Welcome, come in.” The man gestured, moving aside for them to enter a studio filled with many students. “We have two guests here today. One will be the model I mentioned, the other is his…” Turning towards the two, he went on to say, “Housemate?” In a questioning tone.

“He’s my housemate, yes, but he’s also… a lot more than that. We’re very close.” Taemin explained. “He’s also a photography student.”

“Oh really?” He asked, suddenly a lot more interested in Minho. “What year?”

“I’ve finished my bachelor and am now in the process of getting my master’s degree.” Minho explained.

“Ah, so you’re several years ahead of these students. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?”

                “I’m twenty one.”

“Twenty one?!” He gasped. “There’s no way. Surely you mean thirty one? People don’t usually finish their bachelor until they are twenty two. Several of these students are older than you and they went for university right after high school.”

“I skipped two years.” Minho smiled.

“Well then, maybe you could give these students a few hints every now and again.” The professor smiled. “So let’s begin. Lee Taemin is a starting model. Although he is younger than all of you, I expect to see respect and professional behaviour. Before he goes to get changed, do any of you have any questions?”

A girl raised her hand. Receiving a glance of approval from the professor, she continued. “How did you get into modelling all of a sudden? Isn’t the only actual campaign you’ve ever done with that huge underwear company? How did you just suddenly get into such a huge company’s campaign without any prior experience?”

Taemin liked that question. It made him feel proud. Not about his own achievements. He didn’t even count them as such. He was proud of Minho. “He,” The blonde began, gesturing towards his husband, “For one of his classes, he needed to get some photos and so he picked up a random pair of briefs at the department store and asked me to shoot some photos with him. When he handed them in, um, I guess through the… marking process?” Minho nodded, giving Taemin more confidence in his answer, “Somewhere in the marking process, someone who knows someone who knows someone saw it, and the pictures eventually got into the hands of the people from that company and they asked us to model for their next catalogue.”

                “Thank you.” She smiled.

“Alright, then why don’t we get you prepared?”

With that, the duo was led into a dressing room where the younger boy had his makeup applied and hair done, which included covering up his tattoo.

Minho was holding himself back immensely, trying not to let a single ‘strange’ comment out when he saw his gorgeous husband being dolled up. Instead of a ‘you look handsome, kitten’, he stuck with a, “You look good.”

They made eye contact through the mirror, sharing a smile around the dancing makeup artist and hair stylist. “If you say that, then I’ll believe it.” Then he suddenly pouted. “I want to…” He wiggled his fingers and the elder understood immediately. After all, he wanted to hold Taemin’s hand too.

“Maybe if we find a moment. You’ll have a break somewhere along the line. It’s usually half an hour in, but it may be different here. Either way, we’ll have some time to ourselves sooner than later.”

Sighing, Taemin nodded. It bothered him how madly in love he was with his husband. Something everyone should be able to do, something so simple as keeping space between them, seemed impossible. He blamed Minho for being so perfect.

Another half an hour and he was ready.

“Change into the briefs over there.” Taemin was told as the two recently working on his hair and makeup pointed towards a dresser.

“C-can I change alone?” He asked, shy.

                “Sure.”

The three headed for the door, but Taemin jogged forward, pulling Minho back in.

                “You stay.”

                “I stay?” The elder smirked.

“You definitely stay. I need someone to help me undress, right? Unless you want me to call that hairdresser guy back in.”

“I mean, you chose me so I guess I have to.”

Lifting the weightless boy, Minho carried him over to the dresser, sitting him down on top while their lips collided, kiss only interrupted by the sweater and shirt that soon came off.

“Oh my god, wait, this lip gloss!” Taemin gasped, pulling back.

                “It tastes good, doesn’t it?”

“Stop it.” He giggled, swatting the boy away. “You’re going to come out of here looking like you just came out of bed if you don’t.”

“Well then maybe they’ll take a hint as to who you belong to.”

“I only belong to myself.” Taemin whispered, earning a smirk.

“Mm, funny joke.” The elder chuckled, his tongue gliding down the boy’s neck, taking in the scent of cologne.

Pressed against the wall and ready to surrender, he jumped when the door swung open, a new but familiar face appearing for a few seconds before an apology was yelled and the door slammed shut.

                “Shoot-”

“It’s okay. I know him. I don’t think he’ll tell.” The blonde confessed. “But this is a good lesson. If it was anyone else, we would have been in trouble. Let’s get ready.”

                “Agreed.”

They stepped out, Taemin in a robe and Minho following as inconspicuously as possible, hair fixed from the sensual moment they had seconds ago.

Spotting their interrupter nearby, he walked up to him, smile riding his lips. “Hi, Kevin.”

                “I didn’t tell anyone!”

“Thanks, I’d appreciate if you didn’t mention it to anyone. I don’t really want stuff like this to get mixed in with my personal life.” He explained, placing his hand on the older boy’s arm.

“H-he suits you really well… Or… or maybe you’d look just as good with anyone…”

“I like to think I only look my best when he’s around. You know, the power of love or something.”

“I think you just look good pinned up against a wall- um- b-but that’s just my opinion… Sorry, that was out of place, I-I… I’m really bad in social situations… Please go before I say anything else that’s stupid…”

Taemin laughed, releasing the boy and walking towards the set.

Being in front of so many eyes and lenses, unlike the usual routine which consisted of Minho and one camera, he grew anxious.

                “What’s wrong, Kitten?”

“I don’t know if I can do this…” He whispered.

                “Why not?”

“There are way too many people…”

“Sweetheart, just act the way you do when you try to seduce me. Show them what they can’t have.”

                “O-okay…”

“Just like when we have photo sessions, sweetheart.”

Nodding, he barely noticed Minho slip his robe off, leaving him in a pair of tiny, tight briefs and a class to pose for.

Finding a box with a long, black curtain draped over it, he sat down on it, doing just as Minho told him.

Arching his back and making eye contact with the first student in his gaze’s path, he struck his first pose.

Before long, he searched the room for Minho who stood quietly in the corner. Lips turned upwards, he mouthed the word ‘breathe’, leaving Taemin to realize he was probably take way less breaths than he needed to survive as a human being.

He knew he should probably be looking around the room, turning his face in different directions, attempting new angles, but Minho was to the far left, so how could he possibly look anywhere else. That’s when he noticed the elder moving his way around and behind the crowd of students, stopping occasionally for about a minute, letting them take a picture of Taemin in a new light as his eyes stayed glued to the boy. He really was amazing. Was Taemin really this easy to read? He hoped not. He was always trying to maintain some mystery, draw Minho in with the unknown, but it seemed like Minho already had him figured out.

‘Stretch.’ The elder whispered, and Taemin did. Revealing all of his ribs, revealing the way his stomach concaved when he inhaled, revealing how he looked under his tight skin, thin, pale skin, he listened to all of Minho’s commands.

With each pose, dozens of shutters went off, dozens of flashes hit his eye one after another. Minho gave him a ‘thumbs up’ and he was happy.

Half an hour later, everyone put their cameras down.

“Okay, the model has a ten minute break. Everyone reassess your photos and make notes in that time.”

“Kitten.” Minho smiled, walking over with the blonde’s robe, prepared to receive the boy.

                “Thanks. Where should we go?”

“We can go outside for the ten minutes. It’s nice so you should be more than fine in this robe.”

                “Okay.”

They turned around, walking towards the door when someone ran up behind them, joining in on their pace. “H-hi… do you mind if I come along?” Looking over, they spotted Kevin. Although Taemin was a little disappointed, finding it impossible to say no but wishing he could spend time alone with Minho, he nodded. “Sure, we’re just going out into the yard. This is Minho, my husband as well as the other model in the photos you saw me through.”

“Nice to meet you!” He bowed deeply.

“Nice to meet you too.” Minho smiled, offering his hand, shaking the boy’s firmly.

“W-watching you two… you really seem like a power couple…”

“I like to think so.” The elder laughed, “I love him dearly.”

“And I love you back.” Taemin nodded.

“You’re both really attractive… why don’t both of you model? Why didn’t you model before this?”

“I’m a photographer. I take pictures of models, I don’t model.” Minho explained, intentionally brushing his hand up against the blonde’s, teasing him.

“I didn’t think I was good looking enough, um, actually I didn’t ever consider it in the first place. I was really nervous whenever Minho would take pictures of me… yeah. Meeting Minho changed me a lot and I only did it because he was the one who asked me to.”

“I’m envious.” Kevin laughed. “I wish I had a relationship with someone like you two. Um, you two were just on your honeymoon, right? How did that go?”

“It was amazing!” Taemin jumped, the memories of the time rushing through his brain one after another, helping him recollect some of their most precious moments, from jumping out of a helicopter to getting a tattoo done.

                “Did you take any photos?”

“I took tons.” Minho added, “I only have some of them on my phone though. Would you like to see them?”

                “Yes please.”

Instead of going outside and exposing themselves to the glare of the sun, they decided to sit in a nearby hallway where Minho’s phone could be easily seen. Gathering around him, he showcased his best images.

“Wow, you know, these are just vacation photos, right?”

                “Right.” Minho nodded.

“But they look like they’re from a photo shoot or something. You’re very talented. I definitely believe that you skipped a couple of grades when I look at these.”

                “Thanks.”

Looking over, Kevin noted their position.

Minho sat relaxed, one set of fingers holding his phone, the other holding Taemin’s waist. The blonde seemed comfortable as well. Both of his hands were on Minho’s shoulder, his cheek resting on them, a permanent smile pasted on his face. His blonde hair was gorgeous. They looked happy.

“You need to take more photos of yourself.” Taemin commented, noticing the dozens of photos of him and only the occasional one of Minho. “You’re handsome, you know? Because, if we go somewhere and you only take pictures of me, then it’s like we only have half the memory.”

“You’re right.” Minho chuckled, “Anyways, it’s been about eight minutes. We should probably head back.”

                Sneaking a kiss, they returned.

Another hour later and Taemin was back in his own clothes, accepting ‘thank you’ after ‘thank you’ from each student as he walked by.

“Do you have the envelope?” Minho asked him, referring to the paper pocket holding his cash.

“Yes. Right here.” He smiled, waving it around.

“Hey, you should hide it. What if someone steals it from you and runs away forever?”

                “Forever ever?”

                “Forever ever.”

“Then I’ll cry and come to you so that you can comfort me over this tragic loss.”

Snorting, Minho wrapped his arm around his husband’s shoulders, pulling him closer. “So how was it? Do you think being a full time model is for you?”

Taemin shook his head, interlocking his fingers with those which rested on the arm. “No. Maybe a side job occasionally, but I don’t think I’d ever be popular to model full time.”

                “Good.”

                “Why?”

“Because I don’t want you to expose yourself to just anyone. I don’t mind sharing a little, but in the end, I’m greedy, so I want to be the only who gets to photograph all angles of you.”

                “Baby.”

                “Yes, sweetheart?”

“This is my first paycheck ever.”

                “I know, darling. Congratulations.”

“The first thing… I want to do with this money, is spend it on you.”

“What? No! Buy something for yourself.”

“You’re more important. I’m kind of an adult now so please let me make my own decisions.”

He couldn’t do anything but to admire the blonde. He had always seen himself as the older, leader figure, but ever since he watched Taemin walk down the aisle, he was starting to question if maybe he was the one being led around.

“Kitten, you know, before, earlier into our relationship, I would bring up marriage and you would get flustered. You would blush and say you’re not ‘marriage material’. You seemed really happy. But we’re married now, aren’t we? So what do I say to keep you that flustered? What’s the next step that’ll make your heart beat crazily all of a sudden just by hearing it being mentioned because lately I feel like I’ve been falling for you all over again and I want you to understand how I feel.”

Taemin shrugged, feeling his cheeks heat up. “I guess a cheesy line like that will do. Let’s eat out today, okay? On me. What do you want to eat?”

                “Hmm… cold noodles?”

                “And ice-”

                “And ice cream, baby.”

                “Perfect.” He brightly smiled.

Stealing a kiss, they held hands down the street, heading towards the subway.

“What if you became a famous model?”

“Then… I’d want you to be completely financially dependent on me.”

Raising an eyebrow, Minho didn’t expect that to be the answer. “Why? Of everything that could happen and you could do, you’d want that?”

“Because I want to feel like a proper husband. You always take care of me and I want to take care of you too, you know?”

                “You are a proper husband.”

“I… It’s just  you take care of me all the time, you’re the only one working while also a full time student, you buy me things, take me places, when it comes to being in… bed, then you’re definitely a lot more of the ‘husband’ than I am.”

“There’s a different between being a husband and being spoiled, Kitten. Why can’t you just be happy a little spoiled here and these?”

“Because I want to spoil you too, Minho!” He whined.

                “You do spoil me.”

                “How?”

“When you make me dinner, when you kiss me every morning, when you do the laundry, when you give me a massage after work, and when It comes to bed then I’d say I’m a lot more spoiled than you.”

                “Liar.”

“No, no, no. You know me inside out, every single inch, and you only know me. I think that’s asking insanely much already and you’ve given it to without a slight hint of hesitation. That’s as spoiled as it gets.”

“But you’re the same, so it doesn’t count.”

“But you make me feel better than I make you feel so it does.”

                “Wrong!”

“True. Hey, if you really want to feel like a proper husband, you’d take that compliment.”

“I think you’re just being competitive at this point.”

                “Naturally.”

Walking into the restaurant, they were seated, looking over the menu, finalizing their decisions and ordering. When their meal arrived, they were both thankful, combating the growling in their stomach with gulps of noodles and meat.

Without a moment wasted, bowls empty and plates , they walked a block down to an ice cream shop, sitting down for a second meal consisting of endless rounds of shaved ice and ice cream, all in different flavours and sizes.

                “How does it feel, Kitten?”

                “What?”

“Leaving with less of the hard earned money you came with.”

Taemin smiled, dragging his spoon back and forth across the surface of his last scoop, tracing invisible patterns. “In most cases, probably not good, but because I spent it on you…” He looked up, meeting the elder’s eyes, “Because of that, it felt amazing.”

                “You’re really strange.”

                They fell silent.

                “Taemin…”

                “Yes?”

Minho bit his lip. “Tomorrow we’re supposed to talk with Jongin.”

                “Right…”

Reaching across the table, he squeezed Taemin’s hand in his, slowly shaking his head. “I love you a lot, Tae. I’m only asking you to do this for me because it’s really important to me-”

                “It’s important to me too…”

                “Then I’m happy you understand.”

“I’d…” Taemin began, squeezing Minho’s hand back, “I’d do anything for my husband, because I know he’d do the same.”

The elder’s lips tugged upwards as he nodded. “You’re right, I would.”

Chapter 108: Dude, why am I just reading this now?! I... It feels weird that this is the end. It was so lovely and woah I can't believe how much you put into this story. Even though I wasn't here from the very start, I still feel how big a deal this is. I'll miss it too. I can imagine how different things will be now that you're finished and won't have the same routine, but don't feel sad. I think relief is a better option lol now you have this work to look back on while writing new things ^^ congratulations on seeing this through and being so consistent bc wow man, that was quite a schedule. I hope you'll continue to contribute more stories to the fandom (particularly 2min) haha good luck :) <3
