Chapter 70

False Awakening

Taemin woke up in Jongin’s bed that day.

It used to be his, but now he was moved to Minho’s room, so now it’s just Jongin’s bed.

Jongin held him firmly, disregarding the fact that he was unconscious.

Even though it was hot, Taemin chose to lean into the embrace.

As if instinctively waking up, the younger boy stretched, Taemin’s thigh filling his empty hand.

After a few seconds, he groaned and whispered a husky, “Good morning, baby…”

Giggling, Taemin bit his cheek playfully. “I think you’re still dreaming.” Sighing, he wondered if all best friends act like this.

                “I doubt it.”

Sitting up, Taemin’s hand slid down Jongin’s shirtless chest, stopping at his abs. Subconsciously massaging them, his free hand ran through his hair. “What do you want for breakfast?”

                “You.”

                “Me?”

                “You.”

                “That’s cannibalism.”

“Then I guess that would make both you and Minho cannibals.”

“It’s okay, that doesn’t count. Anyways, I’m thinking pancakes.”

                “Pancakes are good.”

Nodding, Taemin stood up, heading for the door.

                “Oh, baby, one more thing.”

“Yes?” He asked, stopping in his tracks.

“Well, first of all, you responded to ‘baby’,” Jongin stated, causing the brunette to blush, “Second of all, can you make some tea?”

                “Of course.”

As Taemin prepared breakfast, Minho approached him from behind, stealing a kiss.

                “Good morning, Kitten.”

                “Good morning, Minho.”

“Kitten, you’re not doing anything today, are you? No plans, no anything?”

                “Nothing. Why?”

Shrugging, Minho’s arms laced around Taemin’s waist, holding his wrist and controlling it as he made scrambled eggs.

“I just want to talk about something important. I was thinking maybe we could go for… Oh, I don’t know, coffee?”

“Am I in trouble?” Taemin quietly asked, suddenly worried.

“No, of course not. Why would you think that?”

“I don’t know. It’s just… it came out of nowhere.”

“You’re not in trouble, Kitten. I love you. I just wanted to talk about something important so I figured we might go somewhere nice to do that.” Minho assured him. Taking Taemin’s ringed finger, he lifted it and kissed it, adoring the sight.

Serving breakfast, the three sat down on the balcony, enjoying the view that accompanied the cool breeze which contrasted the hot summer air. Although the mood, atmosphere, and everything else seemed as usual, Taemin couldn’t stop feeling Minho’s eyes on him. Each glance, each stared, anything directed in his direction, the brunette caught it. For the most part though, Minho continued to stare at the diamond ring and although he tried hiding his looks every time he noticed Taemin catching him, he still continued to do so.

It took a few changes in topic before Taemin interrupted Jongin midsentence, eyes moving from the youngest boy to the older boy.

“Sorry Jongin, hold on. Minho, um, is everything alright?”

Surprised, the boy quickly blinked, nodding.

                “Yeah, of course, Kitten.”

“O-oh, okay. I just wanted to make sure. Anyways, where were you, Jongin?”

                “The car.”

                “Right, the car, go on.”

Even though Minho had told him everything was okay, Taemin still wondered why the ring seemed so significant today, and more importantly, what the topic of their little date later would be. Usually he wouldn’t question it, Minho always asked him out, always pampered him and took care of him and made sure Taemin felt loved, but the fact that he placed so much significance on it, it just occupied the brunette’s mind completely.

Ignoring his gut, Taemin went to clean the dishes. Jongin kept him company while Minho went out to make a stop by the grocery store to pick up a few things.

“Taemin, let’s go out. Let’s go to the park. I want to feed the birds.”

“Not today Jongin, I have to go do something with Minho.”

“Do what?” The boy whined, slipping his hands into Taemin’s back pockets. “It won’t take long. We can just go for like… two hours.”

Shaking his head, Taemin flinched at the squeeze his lower half received. “I don’t know what it is, but it seemed important so… let’s do something together tomorrow, okay?”

“I’m going to buy you something.”

“No, you don’t need to do that.”

“I’m going to buy us matching clothes, like the ones couples wear.”

“It’s called a couple outfit for a reason.”

“We’re a couple. Hey, Taemin, you know how your birthday is coming up?”

                “Yes.”

“I want to make you feel good.”

Laughing, Taemin backed up a few centimeters, standing on Jongin’s toes, gaining some height. “I’m always good for a massage.”

“Maybe it could be an intimate massage.”

“What are you going to be massaging?”

                “I love you.”

Rolling his eyes, Taemin took his wet hands and wiped them on Jongin’s shirt. “What a waste.”

“If you pucker your lips and close your eyes, it won’t be.”

“Go kiss the mirror or something.”

Jongin suggested they’d watch a movie but just as they were picking one out, Minho came home with the groceries. Telling Taemin to get dressed, he promised to put everything away. “I made reservations for us at a restaurant. My friends told me the lunch menu there is really good.”

Nodding, Taemin whispered an apology to the younger boy, leaving him alone with the movies while he went upstairs to change out of his pajamas. Throwing on a colorful outfit, he styled his hair and threw on some makeup, making an effort to look nice for his fiancé.

Running downstairs, he was happy to see Minho waiting for him there; hand extended and prepared to accept his. Taking it, they left for their meal.

Being seated at a table for two, Taemin enjoyed the park that surrounded the outdoor patio. Being handed menus, both of them looked the lists over, deciding what to order. The sun was warm, the birds were chirping, Minho was smiling and everything seemed right. After picking out their dishes and watching the waiter walk back into the building, Minho reached across, taking Taemin’s hand. His smile shined brighter than the sun itself. “Kitten, you look amazing.”

Blushing, Taemin brushed his hair out of his face. “Can I know why we’re here today?”

                Minho nodded.

“I wanted to talk to you about planning our wedding.”

“Wedding?!” Taemin asked, suddenly choking on his water.

“Well we’re obviously not going to stay engaged forever.”

“O-okay…” The younger boy said, losing his voice. “So… what’s there to plan…?”

Minho maintained his serious expression for only a few more seconds before chuckling. “What’s there to plan? A lot, Kitten. We need to pick a venue, cake, what we’re going to wear, who we’re going to invited, the day, the time, everything.”

“That costs a lot of money…”

“I have a lot of money, you don’t need to worry about that.”

“Those types of wedding are the kind’s girl and guys have though…”

“Why can’t two guys have a traditional wedding? You don’t want one?”

Twiddling with his thumbs, Taemin shrugged. “I don’t know, I never thought about it.”

                “So think about it.”

“Do I have to wear the dress?”

The older boy broke into laughter. “No, you definitely don’t have to wear the dress, I mean, unless you want to.”

“No! I want to wear a white suit… but like… you know the ones that have the long jackets?”

                “Yes.”

                “I want one like that.”

“Okay, keep that in mind. Do you know when you want to have the wedding? I was thinking next spring or summer. I think it would be really romantic if we could have our ceremony in some flowery garden, you know?” The Minho’s face grew red, “It’s… I know I probably sound like a prepubescent girl talking about her dream wedding.”

Smiling, Taemin shook his head. “It’s extremely attractive.”

Breaking off their flirtatious stares, they looked towards the waiter who now handed them their lunch. They thanked him and he left.

"I want to get married in a garden then.” Taemin stated.

“Don’t just go along with it, say what you want.”

“Minho, we could get married in a dumpster and I’d be happy. But really, I never thought about it, so I don’t know, but I think a garden is really pretty. If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know but… I think a garden is good. Is it… going to be a big wedding?”

“Well I definitely want my friends to come, so I can already think of twenty off the top of my head, but let’s say that I’ll probably have around fifty people… um… I don’t know about my parents, I mean, I want them to come but… whatever, anyways, include your family and who you want to bring and that’s how many people will come.”

“Fifty?” Taemin whispered, playing with his spoon. “I only… well… I was just thinking Ruki, Jiyong, Jongin, my mom, and my dad… so five people…” Looking down, his mood dropped a bit, but Minho quickly tried cheering him up. “Even if it was just one person, that would be enough.”

“No it wouldn’t…” The younger boy said, leaning on his hand. “Hyung, do we have to have a wedding? I mean, when I imagine you getting married, I imagine you with a beautiful girl in a big, white dress. That’s not going to happen. Besides, I don’t have anyone to come and I can’t even pay for anything and I definitely won’t look good so it will probably be the most disappointing day of your life…”

“That’s not how I see it at all, Kitten! I’ll be the happiest I’ll ever be on this world. And believe me, you’re the only person I can see myself standing beside. And if you want, then we can only make it for those closest to us. In that case, I’ll invite maybe two, three people myself and it’ll be fine.” The elder tried again, taking Taemin’s hand only to have it stolen back.

Taemin felt like he had a knotted stomach and a heavy heart at this point. He didn’t know why, but he felt scared just talking about this. Imagining it worried him on a whole new level. He was three hundred percent sure he wanted to spend his life with Minho, but the idea of marriage seemed to frighten him. Disappointing Minho seemed to frighten him.

Minho must have felt the vibes he was giving out because he pushed his plate aside, sighing.

“You don’t want to marry me.” He said.

This brought Taemin back to reality, leaving him quickly shaking his head.

                “N-no! It’s not that!”

His expression broke Taemin’s heart. He seemed so lifeless.

“Yes it is, you don’t want to marry me. It’s fine, I understand. Well, I don’t, but it’s fine.”

                “Minho, that’s not it!”

“Then what is it? Because that’s all I’m understanding.”

“You’re the one that doesn’t want to marry me!”

Speechless, Minho raised an eyebrow. “What? If that was the case, why would I be here trying to have this conversation with you?”

Taemin shook his head, “No, you… you don’t know it yet, but it’s going to happen, and it’s not going to be what you expect, and I’m not the perfect one for you, and you’re going to end up leaving me anyways so it’s better to just save our money…”

“Aren’t I the one who knows best who is and isn’t perfect for me?”

“You’re going to regret it and leave me once you realize it…”

“Why are you so convinced that I’ll leave you all of a sudden?” Minho demanded in a tone a bit louder than publicly acceptable.

Quietly, Taemin thought to himself. Then, as if out of thin air, the answer seemed clear.

“Because you’re the only one who’s bothered sticking around this long and I don’t know why, so I’m just waiting for you to realize what everyone else has and go…”

They shared a deep stare and Taemin wondered if Minho’s eyes were teary as well or if it was just the illusion his own blurry eyesight conjured.

“I wouldn’t leave you for the world, Taemin. It’s not that everyone realized something and left, it’s that no one knew how to include such unimaginable perfection in their life.”

Taemin’s lips somehow managed to fight their way into an obscure smile but his saddened eyes betrayed it. “Did you figure it out?”

“No, but I’m not willing to let someone else get there before me because I think I deserve you the most.”

There was a hic, followed by a sniffle, following by Taemin wiping his eyes. “H-hyung… you always know what to say…”

Relieved, Minho leaned over the table and helped dry the boy’s dampening cheeks. “Don’t cry, Kitten. It’s a beautiful day and we should talk about beautiful things like you walking down the aisle to meet me.”

                “I love you…”

“I know, I love you too.”

Taking a few deep breaths, Taemin finally referred to the topic at hand, “Please invite as many people as you like.”

“You know, Kitten, if I really invited people who are just my friends, I might have… oh I don’t know, ten? Most of the people who I’d invite as my friends are also your friends. Heechul, Chansung, Junso… that’s just naming a few.”

                “They’re you’re friends, not mine…”

“I think they’d be very offended to hear that.” Minho laughed. “Trust me, it’s annoying how often they ask about you. Kitten?”

                “Yes?”

                “Can I kiss you?”

“N-no! We’re in public. All the tables are literally occupied by at least two people.”

                “I don’t mind.”

Thinking it over for a few seconds, Taemin huffed, rolling his eyes. “If we get into any trouble, it’s your fault and you have to take care of it” He warned, puckering his lips.

Amused, Minho lifted himself and leaned over the table, taking a slow kiss from the brunette’s lips. As he pulled away, he heard Taemin swallow loudly, staring at the floor.

“So anyways, spring or summer wedding in a beautiful garden and you’ll be wearing a longer suit. Is that what we’re agreeing on?”

                Taemin nodded.

“Okay, well then expect to plan this for the next year. I actually know a wedding planner, she’s my friend and she said she’d be willing to help us for free so that’s always lucky.”

                “That’s really nice of her.”

“It is. Kitten, would you think of me as less of a man if I cried at our wedding?”

Minho was the most manliest person Taemin knew and he’d never see him otherwise. “No. Why would you cry?”

“Well, just imagining our wedding is getting me really emotional and the day of… I know I’ll definitely cry.”

                “I’ll cry too.” Taemin admitted, “But I don’t think that’s a secret.”

Picking up a piece of his sweet bread onto his fork, he fed it to the brunette. “Minnie?”

                “Yes, my love?” Taemin mused.

Chuckling, Minho smiled. “I like the sound of that. Anyways, what if tonight, you and I… You don’t have school anymore, so staying up isn’t a problem, maybe we could play around a bit?”

“Maybe we could play around a lot.” The younger boy corrected, twirling his hair around one of his fingers.

“Great, that’s perfect. Oh!” Minho suddenly remembered, “There’s something else I wanted to talk to you about.”

                “What is it?”

“Your birthday. I was thinking about it a lot and I decided that I want to take you on a road trip across Korea.”

                “A road trip?”

“Yeah. We could rent a car or something and get a few people, whoever you want, and just drive everywhere and visit some, you know, tourist spots.”

Excited by the thought, Taemin began picturing it now. There would be the ocean, but also the mountains, and towns, but also cities. They could bring one thing back from every place and decorate the house or even just their room. It would look so nice. They could also get a bunch of pictures and hang those up around the house. Jongin would like that.

“That’s a really good idea, hyung! You’re so smart. I love you.”

With his heart skipping a beat at the compliments, Minho quickly finished his food.

“I’m glad you like the idea.”

“I mean the last part.” Taemin said.

                “Hmm?”

Resting his elbows on the table, he traced the length of Minho’s arm with his finger. “I’m in love with you. I’m beyond in love with you. I’ll be yours forever even if you don’t want me so… please want me.”

Overwhelmed by his emotions, Minho stole Taemin’s hand and bit it, watching how cutely the boy reacted, as he always had. “Kitten, you’re stuck with me your whole life whether you like it or not.”

                “You know what, Hyung?”

                “What is it, Kitten?”

“I never thought I’d fall in love and even if I did… I never thought the first time would be the right time.”

“Me neither. You know, all my friends have been in so many relationships and are nowhere near settling down and then you just came along and… I feel complete, you know?”

“Minho, do you think we’d be here if… if I didn’t tell you I like you?”

“Maybe not here right now, but we’d definitely be reaching this conversation soon.”

“Why do you think that?” Taemin asked.

“Because I definitely would have made a move on you first a bit later. I think the part… before Christmas would change, but I think I’d kiss you on Christmas either way.”

“But didn’t you only kiss me because you knew I liked you?”

“No, I kissed you because I thought the mood was right. I think that… well, looking back on it, maybe it was obvious to everyone except me that I liked you, so I think that if I was put in that situation again, I’d do exactly what I did and pull you underneath the mistletoe.”

“Oh?” Taemin playfully asked, “What if I was the one who pulled you under the mistletoe? What if I was the one who held your hand first? What if I was the one who was on top of you while we did dirty things on your birthday?”

Nearly spitting out his drink, Minho’s eyes grew larger. “You think you’d ever be on top? That’s a joke.”

                “It is not!”

                “Is too.”

                “You’re so mean, Hyung.”

Later that evening, those words resonated in Taemin’s head.

                ‘That’s a joke.’

“It’s not a joke.” He mumbled to himself.

Finishing his late night snack, Taemin headed up to his room. When he opened the door, he saw Minho sitting on the edge of the bed, deeply immersed in his novel. Remembering that they planned on having anyways, the younger boy decided that this would be his chance to prove Minho wrong, to show him that he wasn’t a joke and could do anything he wanted to.

Planting himself firmly in front of Minho, he stole the book out of the boy’s hold, placing it aside. He then confidently took the elder’s hands and interlocked their fingers, pushing him back and pinning him to the bed. Climbing on top, he hovered over him.

Minho was incredibly intrigued, allowing Taemin to play this game a bit more. He watched the brunette over his lips and placed his small frame as intimidatingly as he could. Within moments, they were both exchanging an intimate kiss. Minho found it adorable how Taemin thought he was controlling the situation.

Their bodies continued to move and grind up against each other until neither of them even bothered trying to hide their s. Taemin felt like he was making all the right moves, undressing Minho, kissing his chest, cupping his . He even ended up getting into the dominant mood. It came to a point where Minho got bored of playing the receiving boyfriend though and the moment Taemin’s chest came a bit higher than it was before, his teeth nicked the younger’s and the whole act Taemin built up fell apart right then and there. , he collapsed onto Minho’s chest and the elder’s arms came up around him, embracing the brunette.

Although Taemin’s eyes were closed, he could feel Minho’s cocky smirk. Moments later, they rolled over and he was lying defencelessly beneath the elder. “Kitten, you’re so cute when you try to top, but let’s be honest, you’re so much cuter when you’re under me like that. You can always try topping me, but in the end, you like it best when I do this, don’t you?” Minho asked, propping the tip of his clothed member against Taemin’s clothed hole, earning a loud moan. “Hyung…” Taemin whined, “It’s not a joke… I can be a top too…”

“I’m sure you can, Kitten. But… maybe it’s a better idea to let me take over that role for now.”

Rolling his eyes, Taemin’s body fell under Minho’s control.

“One day, I’ll prove you wrong…”

“Sweetheart, you prove me wrong every day.”

I can imagine how different things will be now that you're finished and won't have the same routine, but don't feel sad. I think relief is a better option lol now you have this work to look back on while writing new things ^^ congratulations on seeing this through and being so consistent bc wow man, that was quite a schedule. I hope you'll continue to contribute more stories to the fandom (particularly 2min) haha good luck :) <3
