Chapter 33

False Awakening

Taemin stood in front of the mirror, watching the reflection. Minho’s hands slowly made their way down his chest as they buttoned his shirt. Minho rested his chin on Taemin’s shoulder, nuzzling his neck with the tip of his nose. Once the elder finished, Taemin spun around, lacing his arms around Minho’s neck while they both smiled at each other. “Doesn’t it feel like we’re newlyweds?”  Taemin teased, leaning in to peck Minho on the lips. “Maybe it would be like this every day if we lived together.” They both chuckled at the thought. “Then move in with me.” Taemin said, slipping into their elder’s embrace. “Would you really want that? I’m messy and you’d surely get bored of me really fast then.” He reciprocated Taemin’s kiss just before the boy spun out of his arms, going to make himself some tea. “Who say’s I’m not bored of you already?” Amused, Minho sat down on the couch. “I’d say your moans tell me the opposite.” Trying to laugh it off, Taemin failed to dish out a comeback. “You , Hyung.” Despite that, he poured some tea for Minho as well, serving him. “Taemin how’s your singing voice?” Taemin hadn’t sung in a while so he really didn’t know. “I’m not sure.” He sat down beside Minho, crossing his legs. “Oh, well I guess we’ll both find out at karaoke then.” Minho took a sip of the tea, giving Taemin a kiss on the cheek out of appreciation. “Do your other friends sing well? The ones I haven’t met yet?” Minho shook his head. “God, no. But we go often anyways for the fun of it.” Taemin nodded. “You sing well.” He shook his head. “No, I prefer to rap.” Taemin laughed, nudging Minho’s side. “Rap for me Hyung.” Minho wrapped his fingers around thin air, pretending he had a microphone in his hand. He proceeded to repeat some ‘yo’s in a deeper voice as he put on a serious face. Taemin had tears in his eyes as he laughed. He joined Minho as he tried to stop his tears. “Yo-yo-yo, underground rapper Minho-ho-ho.” They played on each other’s words until their tongues twisted and their thoughts were all mangled. Taemin squeezed Minho’s hand as his body fell into the elder’s lap. “Minho, let’s make a band.” He agreed. “I’ll rap, and you sing. We can even dance.” Minho pulled him to his feet, his arms on Taemin’s waist as they danced in circles around the house. A while later, Taemin tripped, sending them both falling back onto the bed. Minho looked at the ceiling quietly and Taemin soon followed. He his side, resting his head on Minho’s arm while he traced invisible patterns on the elder’s chest. “You know,” Minho said, beginning his thought. “I think that if you decide there’s enough room here for me… I’ll consider moving in.” Taemin sat up, looking at the elder. “I know we’re both still really young, but there’s always room for you here. My parents come home once a year if I’m lucky and even then, they sleep on the extra mattress in the closet.” He leaned down, pressing his forehead to Minho’s. “And this bed’s big enough for two.” Taemin kissed him as his hand dug through his pockets. He fished out his house keys, placing them on Minho’s chest. “Take them.” He whispered. Minho sat up, his boyfriend in his arms, before taking a look at the gift. “Taemin-ah, you know I can’t just leave my house like that.” Taemin nodded quickly. “I know. So this will be like a promise for the future.” Suddenly Taemin took them back, a blank look on his face. “Actually, I don’t have any other keys so I have to go get a copy of them. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding.” Minho chucked. “God, you’re too cute. What are your thoughts on wearing a wedding dress?” Taemin blushed, crossing his arms in front of his chest. A small pout formed on his lips. “Why do I have to wear the dress? Why don’t you? Why can’t we both wear suits for the wedding?” Minho cocked an eyebrow, giving Taemin a look of confusion. “Who said anything about us being the ones getting married?” Taemin’s cheeks flushed with an even deeper shade of pink resulting to him looking away, a newly found discomfort about being seated in Minho’s lap. “Well… you shouldn’t just cut your sentences off so abruptly…” Taemin stated in his defence. “I’m just joking Minnie.” He said, pulling Taemin’s chin towards him. “You don’t get a choice. It’s going to be white and fall just above your thighs~” Minho suddenly shut himself up when he felt Taemin’s hand fall to his own thigh, thin fingers running over the height Minho had described. “Right here, Hyung?” Taemin asked while he dragged his thumb over Minho’s zipper, stopping at the button. Minho smirked, his lips. “Yeah, but now I’m second guessing myself. Maybe a private wedding in the would be best.” Taemin shoved Minho back on the bed, staring into his eyes. “You’re sleeping on the couch tonight.” He got off the elder, in the middle of turning around when Minho grabbed his wrist, pulling him back down. “Not if I convince you otherwise.” He held the boy and Taemin did nothing to object. “You don’t have the time to convince me Hyung. The clocks ticking and thanks to you, we’re supposed to meet a group of people at some karaoke place downtown.” Minho smiled, kissing the side of Taemin’s face. “I might cancel if we do something more fun here instead.” Minho joked, releasing Taemin, who went to get ready. “We can play Jenga.” Taemin said, humoring Minho. They both dedicated their minds to getting themselves dressed, Taemin more so than Minho. He applied all his makeup but seemed to get stuck at one choice. “Hyung!” He yelled. “Come here for a second!” A few seconds later, Minho came into sight, peeking through the door. “Minnie, please call me by my name. That should be second nature to you by now, ne?” Taemin reached for two things on the counter, holding one in each hand. “Okay Hyung. What colour of lip gloss should I use; pink or red?”  Minho placed his hands over Taemin’s. “You know I’m constantly telling you that you don’t have to wear makeup when you go out.” Taemin looked down; pouting as he slightly wiggled his shoulders. “But Hyung…” Feeling guilty, Minho snatched the two tubes out of the younger boy’s hands. “Fine. Pink.” He got a fluttering feeling in his chest when Taemin suddenly lit up again, a smile from ear to ear filling up his face. Sometimes it felt like he was falling in love with Taemin all over again. When Taemin tried to take it, Minho pulled away. “Let me put it on.” Minho demanded, already having trouble with finding which way to unscrew the cap. He tilted Taemin’s chin up, getting ready to place the brush against his bottom lip. “Wait! Hyung, you can’t just put it all over! You have to put a spot on the middle and one to the left and right of that one. Same with the upper lip, okay?” Minho huffed. “Alright, alright. You know, it’s just lip gloss.” Taemin’s voice got quieter as Minho began applying the gloss, following Taemin’s instructions. “Yeah, but makeup applied wrong can have the opposite effect of what it was originally supposed to do.” Once he finished, he looked to Taemin. Taemin pressed his soft lips together, moving them around slightly to even out the colour. Minho watched hungrily as the boy’s tongue peeked out between them, adding to the glistening of the colour against the light. “Boy, your lips are no joke.” Minho said, unable to tear his eyes away from them. “You have to take the excess off now.” Taemin hinted. “How do I do that?” Minho asked, his eyes finally rising to meet Taemin’s. “You press them against something.” Taemin’s fingers s around Minho’s wrists, his eyes closed. “Seriously, it’s like you’re not even trying anymore Tae.” Minho said, but in reality, who would be able to resist him? If Taemin didn’t offer, he’d do it anyways. They kissed slowly and Minho tasted the strawberry on his lips. When Taemin pulled away, he went back to getting ready, packing all his makeup away. “I love you, Minho.” Smiling, Minho smacked Taemin just below his waistband, going to put his shoes on. “I love you too, Minnie.”

They met the others outside the karaoke place, taking a few minutes to greet each other before heading into the building. There were a lot of people today, at least ten that Taemin could count before everyone scrambled into the room. They ordered food and drinks and within minutes were served. At first, Taemin was sitting with all the girls but when the shuffling and switching settled down, he was between Minho and Heechul. Everyone looked through the book, deciding which songs they wanted to sing and with whom. At one point, Heechul volunteered them to sing a duet. Taemin knew the tune but didn’t particularly like it; he didn’t listen to music too often so he didn’t really like any songs. It was some love song between a Romeo and his Juliet, but more so of a college-type, fun song. The girls started out first and Taemin was genuinely surprised. After being told by Minho that none of his friends could sing, he was shocked to hear the girls hitting every high note perfectly. The guys, along with Minho, stuck with the rap songs. It amused him, really. Some of these songs they sang with a strong passion, but others they just fooled along to, messing up the lyrics and switching words for others that were funnier. When it came to Taemin in Heechul, the elder passed Taemin his microphone. “Hee-nim, I don’t really know all the words confidently.” Heechul threw his arm around Taemin, using the remote to manipulate the songs on the screen. “Then I’ll since the verses and you sing the chorus. The words will be on screen so if you want to join me, just do it.”

And so the song started and they sang. Heechul started right on time. Taemin joined in on some of the parts he knew, helping with some of the higher notes as well. When it got to the chorus, Taemin took the lead. At first he was a little shy but unconsciously broke out of his shell. When the song finished, it was like he slipped out of a daze. Everyone clapped and cheered. He was slightly embarrassed though he had nothing to be embarrassed about. “Wow, Taemin! You sing really well!” The girls said. Heechul kissed his cheek, smooching him with an overdramatized sound effect to accompany it. “We should team up more often, yeah Taemin?” smiling, the older boy nodded.

After a few more songs, they decided to properly sit down to eat. Taemin hadn’t ordered anything because he didn’t really know what a lot of the food was, the menu having strange names for the dishes. That and he forgot his wallet at home. He watched as Minho ate some ramen along with several side dishes. Minho looks really handsome eating, Taemin thought as he watched the boy’s long fingers manipulate the chopsticks, his lips forming around the noodles he was in. Minho must have felt Taemin’s gaze because he looked towards the boy, quickly in the hanging noodles. “Are you not eating, Minnie?” Taemin shook his head. “No, I didn’t order anything.” Minho lifted his bowl, holding it a few inches below Taemin’s chin. “Here, have some.” He offered but Taemin refused. “No, I didn’t pay!” Regardless, Minho lifted the food to Taemin’s lips, giving him no choice but to eat it. “I’ll pay for you, it’s fine.” One of the girls noticed, giggling. “You two should do that scene from the children’s movie about the dogs!” She said to which another asked, “Which scene?” The girl used her hands as she explained her thoughts. “The one where there’s the two dogs eating spaghetti and the both take the same noodle but from different ends and kiss!” They all laughed at the thought before one of the girls pointed to the pair. “Lady and the tramp! Taemin can be the lady and Minho can be the tramp!” They laughed even harder. “Come on you two, do it for us!” The girls teased, the boy’s not interested in the topic, facing the other way. “Why do I have to be the lady?” Taemin said, pouting. “Why do I always have to be the lady?” One girl leaned over, pinching his cheek. “Because you’re the prettiest one!” Minho also complained. “And why am I the tramp?” The girls raised their eyebrows. “Someone has to be.” He scoffed. Taemin was surprised to see Minho lifting one of the noodles with his chopsticks. “Hold it, Taemin.” He said, moving it closer to Taemin. “Wait, why?” Despite questioning, he held it between his lips. Minho took the other end into his mouth. “Let’s entertain them.” Taemin rolled his eyes, gently shoving Minho’s shoulder. “No, I don’t want to~” He looked to his Noonas, eyes big. “Noonas, you understand ne?” Winning their love and affection, they all nodded. “Yes, we can’t force Taemin into anything!” Minho ended the noodle all by himself, stealing a quick peck before biting the noodle and pulling away. The girls squealed, clapping their hands. “You two should date each other~” One of the girls joked with the other’s agreement. Taemin giggled and watched as Minho put a possessive hand on his thigh. Taemin added on with a “Maybe we should.” The boy’s now joined the excitement. “That’s a good idea, you two. That’s what are paying game is going to be this time.” Confused by the term, Taemin looked at Minho. “Remember that one time when we played the paper passing game? You were with Jessica and whoever won didn’t have to pay for anything? It’s that.” Taemin nodded. “So what are we going to play?” Someone asked. “Let’s make it really hard… I think we should do Gay Chicken!” Taemin had never heard of the game but since everyone’s jaws hung open, he guessed it was hard. “Okay! Rules are; Firstly, you have to partner up with someone of the same gender. You win if you can kiss the person for a whole FIVE minutes!” They emphasized. “You are not allowed to touch the person for the first two and a half minutes, but you have to for the last two and a half. The first pair to finish or the pair that lasts the longest wins!” Krystal placed her hand over her lap, flicking her hair over her shoulder with the other. “I’m not getting a paycheck this week so I volunteer to go first.” She offered. “Alright, who’s your partner?”  She shrugged. “Anyone who’s willing.” Another girl, Victoria, decided to partner up with her. They were placed in the middle of everybody, all eyes on them. “Okay, so the first buzz means that half the time has passed and a second one means it’s over. I’ll press go when your lips touch.”

Their lips touched momentarily and the countdown started. Five minutes never seemed so long to Taemin before. He looked for the first thirty or so seconds but soon couldn’t bear to any longer. He turned his head away, leaning on Minho’s chest. Everyone watched intently until the first buzz. Taemin didn’t look, feeling uncomfortable, but he assumed they reached for each other when he heard a buzz followed by everyone ‘oo-ing’ and ‘ah-ing’. It was when someone made a snide remark about which of the two was on top in bed that Victoria pulled away, looking half-offended and half-amused. Regardless of it being for only a few seconds, if a whole one at all, it counted as a disqualification. They lasted four minutes and thirty seven seconds. Two boys tried afterwards, not even hitting the thirty second margin before pulling away and guzzling down their beers. Another two girls tried, making it to two and a half minutes before being unable to feign more intimacy. “I think Krystal and Victoria have won guys.” Suddenly, someone pointed to Taemin. “Taemin should go.” Many people seemed eager but before anyone could volunteer, Minho put his hand up. The bored looking Heechul sat up quickly, looking at the black haired boy. “Minho, that’s cheating!” Minho shook his head. “It’d be cheating if either of us partnered up with anyone else.” He fired back, knowing that Heechul would be the only one at this time who knew what Minho was referring to. Unable to deny that, Heechul shut up, leaning back into his previous position. “It wasn’t like you’d be entering this anyways.” Heechul raised his eyebrow. “It’s not like I wouldn’t mind some one-on-one action with Taemin.” The crowed seemed a bit too intrigued. “Well too bad. He’s sixteen and I’m the only one who can legally touch him here!” Minho argued in his defence. Taemin was pull onto Minho’s lower thighs, sitting on the elder’s crossed legs, on his knees. “What if I don’t’ want to?” Taemin asked, again being forced into things. “Taemin fighting!” The girls shouted, once again leaving him optionless. “Taemin’s actually pretty cute and a little girly looking, I don’t mind being tribute.” Chansung joked. “I don’t think none of us would, you wipe.” Minho gave Taemin a gentle smile. “It never hurt not to have to pay for something, right?” Nodding in agreement, Taemin turned towards whoever held the cellphone. “We’re ready.” They nodded. “Remember, no touching until two and  a half minutes, keep your hands to yourself! Timer starts when you kiss.” Taemin nodded and they both put their hands behind their back, synchronized as if mutually agreeing to it prior the event. Taemin his lips before deciding to lean in. He never thought it would be so challenging to keep his hands off of Minho. They both tilted their heads and deepened the kiss. Taemin could fairly point out that out of all the pair so far, they were getting the biggest reaction. Their tongues slid against each other, their gasps for air short and sweet. Minho must have been counting because the moment the phone buzzed, he lifted his leg. This caused Taemin to slide down the elder’s thighs, chests bumping and hands clashing as they tried to grab for each other. Taemin found his hands cupping Minho’s face while Minho found his on Temin’s back, holding the boy closer than close. Taemin moved one hand, sliding it down Minho’s side as his body rolled against the elder’s. He heard whistling and was tempted to pull away but Minho grabbed him and embraced him even tighter. It was sooner than expected when the phone vibrated, leaving Taemin still in the act while Minho adopted a smile of success. “Well, I guess they win. Wasn’t expecting that.” Taemin instantly jumped off of Minho, filling in the empty spot he left. “Wow Taemin, you two were so intimate. We were right, you two should date!” Minho laughed. “Maybe we already are. Maybe we do naughty things in the changing room at Taemin’s school when we both have classed to be attending. Maybe we-” Taemin covered Minho’s mouth, tongue-tied. He got looks of suspicion and quickly played it off. “I mean, of course we do that. Minho is actually a masochist.” The girls blushed shyly while the boys broke out into laughter. “I’m surprised Taemin. I didn’t know your humor had this side to it. With that comment and winning the comment, you definitely don’t have to pay.” Taemin was happy he made an impression.

When they got back to Taemin’s house, Taemin clung to Minho’s arm. “Hyung, you can’t just say stuff like that, especially if you haven’t told them about us yet.” Minho smiled, picking Taemin up into a princess hold and carrying him onto the couch. He sat down with you younger boy in his lap. “Why not? I think it’s a good way for them to find out. Finding out through surprise is the best.” He teased, cuddling Taemin.

And hour later, after watching an episode of a running drama, Minho spoke up again. “Minnie, I’ve been wondering, after everything that’s been happening lately…” He caught Taemin’s attention. “If it weren’t for the bell at your school, would you have hated it if we didn’t stop?” Taemin’s cheeks lit up with a sudden rosiness. He thought his words over before answering. “I think, now that I look back on it, I hated it more that we stopped.” Hearing the words made Minho’s heart beat like a drum. “Then… maybe we can finish up now?” His arm slipped between Taemin’s legs, teasing his eager skin while the boy grasped onto him. “Minho, I…” Losing his train of thought, Taemin was moved, switched the a lying position as Minho hovered over him. “I haven’t showered or anything, Hyung.” Minho kissed along his neck, leaving a trail of subtle marking. Giving up on resisting, Taemin pulled him closed, fingers sliding into hair. He looked away when the doorbell rang. With the intention of answering it, he lifted himself, only to be pushed back down. “Just let it ring.” Minho mumbled into his skin. Taemin laughed, rubbing the elder’s back. “It’s the door, not the phone. I can’t just ‘let it ring’.” He lifted Minho off, leaving his side. “It’s not like I invited anyone over. It’s probably just a wrong address. Give me a second.”

He walked over to the door, turning the handle without looking through the peephole prior. He probably would be a little less surprised if he had. He opened the door fully, taking in the person standing in front of him. His eye’s nearly popped out as his jaw fell agape. “What are you doing here?” He asked, shocked. “I’m sorry for showing up this late, it was a long drive.” He turned back to face Minho who was leaning off the couch now, staring at the visitor just as dumbfounded.

                “It’s okay… come in…”

A/N: sorry about the cheap image thing.. I seem tou have caught a cold and I feel so gross

Chapter 108: Dude, why am I just reading this now?! I... It feels weird that this is the end. It was so lovely and woah I can't believe how much you put into this story. Even though I wasn't here from the very start, I still feel how big a deal this is. I'll miss it too. I can imagine how different things will be now that you're finished and won't have the same routine, but don't feel sad. I think relief is a better option lol now you have this work to look back on while writing new things ^^ congratulations on seeing this through and being so consistent bc wow man, that was quite a schedule. I hope you'll continue to contribute more stories to the fandom (particularly 2min) haha good luck :) <3
