Wooyoung pushed open the cafe door and to the sidewalk.

Distantly as if in a dream he could feel he was moving slower than usual and that he needed to pick up the pace but he couldn’t muster the concentration for it. Vaguely, he could feel someone had bumped into him or he had bumped into someone or something, once maybe twice. There might have been a voice speaking to him too but he couldn't tell for sure. His mind was busy processing other things. What...What just happened?

“Let’s break up” Ji Nahs voice suddenly rang out in his head. No no that’s not what happened...

Sure he was imagining things he forced himself to recall what just took place.

 

Wooyoung grinned, feeling giddy at her rare display of affection. She was smiling at him, holding his hand and staring into his eyes. 

“Let’s break up” she said still smiling.

Ginning wider “Thanks Ji...” he started to say but didn’t finish “Wait...What?” Grin gone, his brain scrambled to piece together what she said.

Looking at her she was still smiling sweetly at him. He was sure he must’ve misheard “What did you just say?” he asked.

Letting go of his hand she leaned back in her seat and examined her nails before looking back up at him “Let's break up”  

Her words setting in, he felt a jolt to his body as his brain caught up with his ears. “WHAT!?” Shocked he stood abruptly, sending the chair he was sitting on flying backward. Uncaring that he probably now had the attention of all the customers in the cafe.

Looking up at him, she sighed, rising from her chair she picked up her handbag to sling it over her shoulder as if preparing to leave.

In disbelief, he leaned forward placing a palm on the table “Where are you going?!”

Flicking her hair over her shoulder she raised her eyebrows “You’re not my boyfriend anymore so why would I tell you that?”  

Panicking he stepped back reaching blindly behind him for his chair “Oo..okay let’s take a seat and talk” finding the chair behind him he pulled it forward and sat down, keeping his eyes on Ji Nah. Watching for a moment she glanced at the door but then sighing, sat back down, observing him flatly.

Breathing fast he took in a calming breath “Ji Nah...why are you saying this all of a sudden?”

“Because I don’t want you to be my boyfriend” She said, her expression unchanged.

“Why!?” he asked, leaning forward imploringly.

“Mmmm” pursing her lips in thought, she looked over his shoulder “Hard to tell...just...because” she said, looking back at him.

Wooyoungs mouth opened in shock “That’s not a reason!” he exclaimed.                

Putting her elbow on the table, she leaned closer and quirked her head to the side “What other reason do you need? It’s me, not you? I think we’d be better as friends? I’m moving to Scotland tomorrow?” Leaning back she shrugged a shoulder innocently “I can’t say that”

Shocked and confused he tried to speak but nothing would come out.

Raising her eyebrows, she stood again “If that’s all i’ll be going” she said, turning for the door.

Forcing his body to react, he stood to stop her. Ji Nah as if sensing this faced him and narrowed her eyes, lowering her voice menacingly “If you’re thinking of following me around like a puppy like you usually do... then don’t. I really hate that”

Stunned that she could speak to him like that he stilled, his muscles automatically freezing at her words. Cooley studying his reaction for a moment, she turned her back on him and then stopped.

Turning her head to the side “Ah I almost forgot” her hand flicking up dismissively, she looked back at him and smirked “Thanks for the coffee”

Turning, she pushed open the cafe door and walked out.

His mind started replaying the memory over again. She broke up with me.

His body registering with shock, he sensed that he’d stopped walking.

She broke up with me... She…
“okay...” she...
“anywhere...” broke...

His head suddenly snapped forward “broke up with me” he blurted out. Eh?

Hearing the sounds of cars, breathing in air and feeling it fill his lung... one by one his senses seemed to be returning. His vision was coming back too but it was making him dizzy so hanging his head he blinked quickly until he could clearly see his shoes and the pavement under them. He lifted his head, tensing in surprise to see a girl standing in front of him, peering up at his face. Feeling something clamped around his upper arms, he looked down and saw that the girls hands were holding him.

Taken aback he stepped out of her grip and looked at her warily “Who are you?”

“Oh… sorry” she said, inclining her head in greeting she looked up and smiled

“I’m Yu Jin...Kim Yu Jin”
